What other composer would have the balls to grab a baton with both hands and attack the music like a sword? Only Bernstein! Even though this is a very fast pace, this is one of the pieces that suffers if it is not pushed.
i really want to like bernstein - he's so charismatic, exuberant and self-assured - but I just find a lot of his stuff (namely this and Mahler) so fast it takes away so much dignity and i cant take it seriously.
:17-:19 Now that is how that famous bass drum is suppose to sound!!!!!

Very good tempo, very close to Verdi's indication: 80 for the half note.

@sirmattbelios With some things I would agree on that. But this for some reason I just can't listen to unless it's done this fast.

@Brideshead09 Though I admit the Tuba Mirum is pushing it a tad...

Non è un po' troppo veloce il tuba mirum?

What a treat! Bernstein reads deep into Verid's interpretation of the ultimate Mass Aeterna. Do you have the whole Requiem? Thanks for sharing this

Muy buena interpretacion, no cabe duda que Bernstein es uno de los directores mas expresivos de la historia.
