He was a great puncher, but not a great technician in the face of real skill or pressure. He was flawed. Jones would've countered him repeatedly and beaten him handily had they fought.
benn was a tremendous puncher no doubt about that... but harder than the g-man... i am not that sure.. gerald only twice went the distance in 34 fights, ok he lost 2 too, but 29 knockouts? unbelieveable, he even hit harder than julian jackson, and we dont have to argue about julian's punching power... nigel benn had also unbelievable punching power... to put the g-man and the dark destroyer in one ring, both with their dangerous hands, couldnt concluse well... and sadly it didnt... what a fight
ye fair point mate, well said, mcclellan seemed to have a freakish elasticity about him, he could hit from anywhere with tremendous power, its such a shame what happened to him in the benn fight as he was going to the top, benn should have retired after that fight as he gave all he had left as a boxer, and its no suprise he had 3 of his 5 defeats after that bout as he was a shadow of his former self.
Gerald mclellan was the best i would have loved to have seen him face bernard hopkins, roy jones, oscar de la hoya, felix trinadad he could have faced them all and prob beat most of em but it just wasnt to be!!!!
mcclellan bet jones in the amateurs

No one from 11 to 12 stone hit harder than Julian jackson - not benn nor McClellan .
Jackson left people for dead with his shots - just look at the herol graham KO - that was brutal
