if anyone who lives in sydney (expat kiwi's) the lead singer Barry Leef comes from blenheim and now he fronts a band that relives the Doobey Brothers. I have seen them and they are awesome go & check them out, really worth a visit
Remember being at a Girlfriends place in my High School years when we first heard this.We just sat as this song totaly captivated us.Thanks for the memory.
Line-Up: Harry Leki (Lead Guitar) r.i.p. Barry Leef (Rhythm Guitar / Vocals) Ron Gascoigne (Bass Guitar / Vocals) Allan Gordon (Drums)
another great Kiwi band..New Zealand music always sounds unique to me and has a certain 'sound'..listen to bands like Split Enz, the Fourmyula, Crowded House etc and you;ll hear what I mean.....love it !
Oh my gosh. I was 9 years old when I first heard this song, and it just brought a flood of wonderful memories growing up in Wanganui. I'm now living in Los Angeles but planning to go back home. :D
I loved this song growing up in New Zealand, think it was around 1970, or early 70's, I remember it well it was an entrant in he Loxene Golden Disc award, don't think it won though, but a wonderful memory, thanks for posting.
I was 10 when this came out...i use to listen to the NZ hit parade just to hear this song...great memories...I met the lead singer at HMNZS Tamaki back in 1987 as he was in the Naval Reserve...nice guy
I was 11 when this came out. Golden gdays for kiwi music. I loved 'lamore a l' enfant de la liberte' excuse my french but it means 'love is a child of freedom'. I forget who sung it.
heya the gutarist harry leki was my step dad unfortunatley he passed on in march 07 miss him dearly!!! will cherish his loving memories thru his songs xx
lol god im old love this song though. if some one has them could you post a version of Front Lawns "tommorrow night" and "Gutter Black" by hello sailor it would be greatly appreciated. By me that is.

Great song. I only recently rediscovered it, and had always assumed it was either American or British. Real Kiwi talent.

One of the best records of all time. Even better than the version by the Ballroom. And that's saying a lot.
