  • Those loud thunder crashes woke me up from a deep sleepy I sware

  • why are straight line winds straight ? lol

  • Neat video - this is a microburst, though, not a tornado. They can be scary - and quite powerful. I was stuck in my car on the freeway near Charlotte, NC when one went right over me. The wind was so intense that it bent the trees over into "L" shapes and my car was rocking. Just when I thought I should probably get out of the car and look for a ditch to get into, it stopped all of a sudden.

  • @GlassButterfly12

    Yup, posted this last year:

"...It was called a down burst or a microburst, a rare weather phenomenon. This storm split, uprooted and knocked over at least 100 trees in central park (some hundreds of years old) and killed hundreds others. All this happened in about 20 minutes."

  • This was straight-line winds, not a tornado according to the NWS. It was a freak storm that formed over Jersey and moved east.

  • you would not be able to stand a category 5 hurricane is nothing compare to what happens some times to us in here in Puerto Rico. people going crazy for some lights and winds

  • you would not be able to stand a category 5 hurricane is nothing compare to what happens some times to us in here in Puerto Rico

  • sseriously this is nothing compare to what happens in Puerto Rico and the tropical islands you guys all scare and stuff i wonder if you could stand a category 5 hurricane.

  • Did you just seriously almost say hurricane?

  • @qmwneb5 Are you really asking that question with any seriousness?

  • @Bennybeez1 None at all. I'm just kidding, haha.

  • Are those cops down there at 33

  • @freaknikist No, they are NYC Cabs that were forced to stop in the middle of the road and put their hazard lights on. They couldn't see through the rain.

  • Oh I remember this I was actually outside trying to ride the storm in the Bronx thou

  • this was crazy i couldnt see anything outside execpt windows the funny thing is it all ended like nothing happened :|

  • @number1jericholic srry i meant that comment for the one that happened yesterday

  • @number1jericholic no worries. I got that one too! Not as impressive as it mostly passed to my north, but I got some good lightning shots.

  • @Bennybeez1 yea there was nonstop lightning the tornado didnt pass by harlem though :D

  • haha, I like the storm is so average but for New Yorkers its so rare, and they're surprised by it. It's actually kind of odd when you think of a Tornado in New York City.

  • in almost every vid of nyc there a siren in the background XD

  • That was the best storm in 2009! it lasted very little but boy oh boy was it a rush! :D Glad you got it on video, thanks for posting man!

  • @glowramia My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed nature's fury as much me.

  • i remember that i was sittinq at home and the damn wind was annoyinq lmao

  • was that the storm that was so bad they had to put up gates and make a section for all the knocked down trees

  • New York City has been lucky soo far when it comes to Natural Disasters. They mainly worry about Hurricanes and fault lines that are in the area.

  • It's like that all the time where I live (Not new york!) My friend lives there, I'm going to ask her if she remembers this now lol. Oh plus it's like that right now where I live ^_^

  • this happens in new jersey like once a year 2008 was the worst there were out breaks of thunder storms in new jersey

  • i remember that, that was a dangerous one

  • i live in lower manhatten and i remeber this.

  • where i live at. we get storms like this every year,

  • Where do you live? Tornado Alley? I assure you, this storm was very rare for NYC.

  • i live in north carolina ^^ we don't get tornado's every year but we get storms like these that calls tornado watchs out ,every year

  • this storm scared the shit out of me the thunder lighting and wind was like i never heard or seen before i thought it was a tornado coming by...seemed like it

  • Lyricist, David Zippel lives on Central Park West. We were in Junior Achievement together back in 69-71.

  • i wish i lived in new york.....looks cool but very scary....

  • NY is the greatest city in the world. We get storms all the time here, but something like this I've never seen. It was called a down burst or a microburst, a rare weather phenomenon. This storm split, uprooted and knocked over at least 100 trees in central park (some hundreds of years old) and killed hundreds others. All this happened in about 20 minutes.

  • I love NY too. I haven't been there since May 2004 when I last saw my friend Rod McKuen at a book signing at the Folk Art Museum. I had previously visited several times a year, until I had an injury in a bad fall at the MA Turnpike Rest Area Sept. 04 during Hurricane Ivan.

  • @tennesseewannabe18 i live in new york city it is pretty nice here but when a storm hits it can get pretty ugly =)
