Neat video - this is a microburst, though, not a tornado. They can be scary - and quite powerful. I was stuck in my car on the freeway near Charlotte, NC when one went right over me. The wind was so intense that it bent the trees over into "L" shapes and my car was rocking. Just when I thought I should probably get out of the car and look for a ditch to get into, it stopped all of a sudden.
"...It was called a down burst or a microburst, a rare weather phenomenon. This storm split, uprooted and knocked over at least 100 trees in central park (some hundreds of years old) and killed hundreds others. All this happened in about 20 minutes."
you would not be able to stand a category 5 hurricane is nothing compare to what happens some times to us in here in Puerto Rico. people going crazy for some lights and winds
sseriously this is nothing compare to what happens in Puerto Rico and the tropical islands you guys all scare and stuff i wonder if you could stand a category 5 hurricane.
You haven't see anything yet. Wait until the Great Tribulation starts. Acts 2;38 is still God's plan of salvation. Obey while u have a chance. Jesus Christ is coming soon.
@freaknikist No, they are NYC Cabs that were forced to stop in the middle of the road and put their hazard lights on. They couldn't see through the rain.
haha, I like the storm is so average but for New Yorkers its so rare, and they're surprised by it. It's actually kind of odd when you think of a Tornado in New York City.
It's like that all the time where I live (Not new york!) My friend lives there, I'm going to ask her if she remembers this now lol. Oh plus it's like that right now where I live ^_^
this storm scared the shit out of me the thunder lighting and wind was like i never heard or seen before i thought it was a tornado coming by...seemed like it
NY is the greatest city in the world. We get storms all the time here, but something like this I've never seen. It was called a down burst or a microburst, a rare weather phenomenon. This storm split, uprooted and knocked over at least 100 trees in central park (some hundreds of years old) and killed hundreds others. All this happened in about 20 minutes.
I love NY too. I haven't been there since May 2004 when I last saw my friend Rod McKuen at a book signing at the Folk Art Museum. I had previously visited several times a year, until I had an injury in a bad fall at the MA Turnpike Rest Area Sept. 04 during Hurricane Ivan.
Those loud thunder crashes woke me up from a deep sleepy I sware

This was straight-line winds, not a tornado according to the NWS. It was a freak storm that formed over Jersey and moved east.

New York City has been lucky soo far when it comes to Natural Disasters. They mainly worry about Hurricanes and fault lines that are in the area.
