This isn't about Americans inventing any of those items; the commercial is attempting to tap into a nostalgic sentiment of a time that was less complicated and more "American". It's trying to make the American consumer feel guilty for not purchasing American brands; it is attempting to get the American consumer to realize that we should remember that quality of the item trumps anything else including high priced name brand items. It' s saying JD is an American innovation of quality and lineage.

When I first saw this I assumed it was irony seeing as America invented none of these things, but then I remembered that Americans do not understand irony.
@Coltaculuss Awh! How cute! Look everybody, yet another anti-American foreigner showing that American's are not the only ones capable of expressing arrogance. Pipe down, internet jockey. There are stupid and fat people in every country, including your's. By the way, what country would that be exactly? I'm dying to bring Military power into the equation.
I'm not anti-American at all. But it's true, Americans don't understand irony, and they did not invent anything in the video. But when you talk about military power, it doesn't help. If you are proud of the fact that your country spends more money on its military per GDP than any other western country but claims that they cannot afford to provide universal healthcare, you are an idiot.
You guys that think this commercial is trying to say that Americans invented the traffic light and fire hydrant are, quite frankly, retarded.
