i heard with some cable internet providers you need to cloan a mac address from a subscribed modem but i hear on comcast you dont have to,so then what do you do?just flash and go?

I'm having a problem with mine. My friend hacked mine. I have it connected straight into my cable line. Anyway, it will stay connected for a while, but then it'll just crash and I'll lose connection. Also, when I run a speedtest, it comes out really shitty. Its shows up as just a tad bit faster than Cricket wireless internet.

I have one of this hacked modems working just fine here in the USA (on Comcast). Im going to South America in 2 weeks. Will the modem work overthere? or its just for comcast? I see it has a SNIFFER function, will this "sniff" and find the config fles of the ISP in South America?
