i think danielle was just a pretty person who photographed well, while joanie just worked it, i mean she was amazing on that elephant, plus i could never understand danielle with her accent. i think they were both deserving but i think Joanie deserved it more.
For me, Joanie has a european-beauty, and we can see it very apparently in her CoverGirl's picture. So that why Tyra didn't choose her to became ANTM (although she was a stunning contestant), and she chose Danielle cause che exactly represents for a American model.
thats her problem... if i were to meet joanie and dani when they were still in the competition, i think joanie would be too boring for a model... but her pictures showed otherwise
