To cool Zach! This is Mark the guy from the trip up on the Mekong! I hope to see more of you and your electric bikes in the future! Will keep on the look out! Best wishes Mark & Mye
Hummm chain noise? Have you looked at the DAF transmition it's pully. It's set so as you go faster a weight pulls the pully apart so the ratio changes. I guess they use them in snowmobiles also.
get a bike with an aluminum frame see about getting the most efficient batteries which is probably going to be the expensive part if you want it light and with power that is what you ahve to do.
Good onya! We went out to the Lake Gairdener salt flats here in Australia last month with our 'Catavolt' electric bike...it's great that these records are up for grabs...unfortunately we cooked our in-hub motor, so really, we got within 1/4 mile of an Australian land speed record. Argh!!!
Just as a comparision point, on the drag strip, we exceed 77 mph after 1.2 seconds, (just before 70 feet.) We have a lot more HP, however. Also, my daily driver is a VW Rabbit converted to electric. It's top speed is over 100 MPH. If we can manage it, we might bring the "Wabbit" out to the salt next year too.
Glad you made it out to the salt and set a land speed record. It is a major effort to build a bike, get it race-ready, and transport it to and from the salt. We had too much on our plate to show up this year, but we plan to bring the KillaCycle out to the salt next year. Hope to see you then.
