I have MinPins -- second rescue -- Roz and Simon are great little companions and they are tricky to train as they are an active breed that loves their people companions -- but they have to be reminded patiently from time to time that I am the alpha dog. then everything is good again.
I just got a min pin in October 2011 and last month, we discovered that he had a luxating patella, but he is only 10 months. Anybody experienced something similar?
@BIEBERGIRL101ify I had a similar problem with my little guy Simon (who should have been named Alvin) but that's another story. Simon was very fearful of everyone -- still as a problem with tall or big men. I spend time petting Simon and picking him up and stroking him gently -- but if he wants down, I let him down. The "cuddle time" has gotten longer and longer over the years and over the last year Simon has begun to "ask" for petting time. I am happy to oblige.
I have a 6 yr old female Min Pin I rescued.. Shes Awesome!! Love her to bits! Shes well trained and very smart. she's very responsive and picks up on things very quickly. Very Happy With her. :)
This is one breed of dog that looks small but really isn't. They are really cute, but i think if someone is looking for their first dog, this is not the best breed to pick.
i have a min pin/ rat terrier.. roxy :) but most people call her roxy roo.... min pins are very cuddly they will even follow you to the bathroom lol... they do have attitudes lol.. like when ever i leave the house for a few days she ends up chewing my moms flip flops up... 5 pairs so far LOL... there like a 3 year old that never grows up haha but they are GREAT dogs i LOVE min pins! ---> if u have another dog .. there could be jealousy issues
All I can say is. This breed needs to be walked, atleast 5 days a week and a good mile or so each time... Our minpins behavior changed 100% for the better after we started doing this... Oh yeah and lots of praise!!!
my mini pinscher is like my soul-sister, an animal soul-sister, that is. she is a great companion. she will never leave you, no matter where you go; yes, and that includes the rest-room! she is very funny. many say, that for a dog she has peculiarly many human-like attributes. she's aggressive and dominant like min pins are. and of course, she has this rapacious appetite.
Remember that pins were ratters (or "critter controllers") one reason why they are extremely fast, small, hyper, and good senses (of course like most dogs.)
Great advice on how active min pins are...I had no idea what I was getting myself into when we brought home a cute little min pin 6 years ago..He was always growling at my son..Barking, chewing on himself. Totally out of control. It was not until recently when I adopted a black lab that I had to learn about both breeds..It's so simple I'm totally amazed at how much control I now have over my dogs. Min's like to dig for anything..I take him to open desert fields so that he can dig for anything..
@superkushlover She "acts like"? Mine flat out has dug holes in the couch. My doggie would never bite anyone and lets little kids poke her and grab her ears-but God forbid you let her around another dog. I had to wrestle her off the face of a pit bull that wondered into our yard-as in she jumped up and clamped on to its face. At least the pit thought she was playing. It could kill her without even trying!
Agree with everything you said but it would have been nice if you mentioned , in addition to 'breeders', adopting a MinPin from a bona fide rescue group. Because these dogs are not the breed for every family, many are given up to rescuers and shelters. If you research the MinPin and are convinced this breed is for you, rescueing one can save the life of a perfectly great dog. I know, I've adopted 3! Check out minpinrescue . org
mine really likes to bite... he's really nice but he will not listen to commands i try to tell him to come he sits for example he gets out because he is not allowed we live by water what do i do?
Mine is 13 and a Min Pin/Mini Greyhound. She HATES children and tried to bite a drunk guy's face off when he decided to take her pig ear away from her with his mouth. I can tell when she's going to bite and I usually get the kid out of the way in time. This is AFTER I tell the parent NOT to let the child near her; they seem to think "oh, she won't bite my child." She's a good baby and responds to commands (thankfully); she will sometimes pout and act like she can't hear when she gets "offended."
Hmm my min pin (molly) isn't all that feisty, I've had her since she was a pup and was the runt of the litter and she is really small not as big as they should normally be. but besides all that. She loves to go for a walk to do her "business" And mainly sleeps all day long until she's ready to go outside again by scratching on the door. she's not to good with kids.Other then all that I love my molly wolly :)
A bit unhelpful. Min Pins are always introduced as "King of Toys," which as far as I can tell is code for "Little A***holes." I got one because I knew how self-possessed they are, and I found it charming. But yeah, you are signing up for some work if you get one.
Because of this breed's intelligence you will have a TIGER by the tail if you don't train them! They can and will get into trouble at every available opportunity... plotting the next evil adventure the next time you're not looking! My last little girl lived to be 14. She was a constant joy, a breeze to train, and without a doubt the smartest dog I have ever owned.
I have a Micro Min Pin! Her name is Vixen and she's stag red (we were going to name her Bambi but decided on Vixen instead.) She's almost 1 year old now. She's very territorial, but after a while can learn to love others. She's very protective, a really good guard dog. She's had her tail docked, but we found it unnecessary to clip her ears because they don't flop over and can stand up by themselves. I think MinPins are GREAT! Lovable, loyal, and just UUBER CUTE! Must have patience tho!
i own four min pins that are all related. i have two black and rust min pins who are bro and sis, and two red ones who are sisters and daughters or my female black n rust and nieces of the male black and rust. the two red ones names are tank and Red. the black n rust ones are Brie and Axel. whenever i have Brie in my bedroom with me an shes laying on her pillow, she will growl wen sum1 walks by my door or comes into my room. she'll be curled up in a ball but will growl while laying like that! XD
i own a total of 4 Min Pins and they are the sweetest towards me and my family! we have to keep them locked in there crates and either keep them in our storage room or my mom's room if we have company over cause they will bark their heads off. but other than that they are sweet! i mean they are full grown. but the Min Pin he showed us in the vid, Damian isnt it? was way bigger than the standard size of a min pin! standard size for a min pin is 10 to 12.5 inches at the withers (Shoulders).
it's so funny when me and my minpin goes for a walk, cuz she's a too lazy too walk... she would just walk for about 5 meters and then after that, would just sit on the ground and wants to be carried back home...
I love my min pin.. he gets protective maybe the first time he sees a stranger who is a new family friend etc.. but after a few times seeing them he so lovable. As a matter of fact hes laying down at my feet on the bed :)
How about advocating a rescue rather than a breeder to obtain a Min Pin? This is a very misunderstood breed, and too many novice owners bite off more they can chew in their haste in wanting one. This is one reason why so many are in shelters and rescues! Please don't breed or buy while pets in shelters die...
My Min Pin.. Dracula, is a TOTAL ASS..I know I know, it's my fault.
He's also a huge chicken and the last thing on earth he would do is bite someone.
I WANTED him to be protective and a guard dog like ..But NOOOooooo..He's a total woos and if I make him mad he will go poop right in the middle of my bed. No matter what I do, I can not break him of it so I have to keep him OUT of my bedroom. As a very young puppy, he did the same thing to the breeder I got him from. :(

We started with one have two now and maybe looking at a third.Baby Gracie is tiny and sat on my chest right now. having just chased away a friends rotie pup. The so think they are big dogs. So much fun to have around.
@Hans021220 Oh, I am so sad to know of Tanja's prognosis. Every moment we have with our beautiful furry friends is precious. Focus not on the end of her life here with you - focus on how brilliantly you changed her life and gave her your love. She will never be far from you, even when she's left this earth. I believe that when our spirits leave, we will be reunited with our loved ones - human and animal.
@armygirl2016 yeah u can. we docked my min pin red's tail when she was still a bit of a young puppy! but we could not crop her ears tho kuz she got sick after we docked her tail. idk what her illness was when she was still a pup but she was loosing patches of fur her ears were i beleive infected and all that stuff. but red's sister Tank got her ears cropped and her tail docked the same age as Red was i believe. so yeah u can still crop and dock her ears and tail!
My Min Pin's name is Roxcee...I absolutely adore her, so does everyone! She is always the main topic everywhere I take her. She is very mannerable, prissy, has loads of energy and GREEDY, I need to put her on a diet (lol)!!! Very good breed to own and enjoy....
I rescued a 4 year old miniature pinscher 8 months ago. She had been kicked, ignored, heaven knows what else - and was scheduled to be shot and killed on the afternoon I learned about her plight and brought her home. We've worked through some issues (related to her past experiences), and have more training to do. She's my first min pin. AWESOME breed! Intelligent, extremely loyal and affectionate. We bonded immediately and deeply. She is a one-person dog, but does warm up to other people.
@NrthrnDncr1 What a wonderful story! My 10 years old Tanja also had a very tuff start at her life and was brought to a shelter. When I got her,she was really hard to handle, doing her toilet all over inside even she was 7 mnths old, tearing the wallpaper, teaing the furniture apart etc.But now she has become the best dog ever!Very obediant, kind and loving!Unfortunality she has got cancer, and the vet says that she will probably not live for more than 6 months from now......
Min Pins are verryyyy LOYAL !!!! Although my Princess snuzzles ALL NIGHT ..chew and nibbles alot ..She is worth it. She also is VERRYYY GREEDY !!! I feed her the very best low calorie dog food..she just NEVER seems satisfied with eating !! Again min pins are LOYAL !!!! Very good with babies and the elderly..I am a PROUD owner of the owrlds best dog ever !!!!

Well yea i have one but mine has TO MUCH ENERGY i cant get him to stop jumping on the couch then the floor then my other couch then he runs to the kitchen and then room bed then he starts all over and he does this so alot
We own a Red Min Pin and he is a BULLY!! He only weighs 15 pounds, but he haunts other dogs that are 4 times his size!! He is a BEAST!! He rules our neighborhood!! Other dogs flee when they spot "little red" outside!! SERIOUSLY!!
@MegaGolgo13 i own 2 red min pins, they are sisters and there names are Tank and Red. we also own to black n rust colored min pins. the red ones are daughters of my female black n rust min pin and nieces of the females black n rust's brother. yeah i know i own 4 min pins! but i love it!
I think mini pins are great I have one but he stinks, I bathe him and have his glands cleaned, he's healthy and active, but he stinks terribly. Like a dead animal mixed with a hampster cage. No he has not been rolling in one. What can I do?
The entire family took turns ringing the doorbell or knocking repeatedly day and night for an entire week. We would repeat the process at least 10/12 times during training, knocking or ringing for about 15/20 minutes.
I would say "Shush" while he barked and when he stopped I would give him a bacon treat. We got him to focus on us or the treat rather than the ringing. Each family member took turns doing that until he would finally stop barking. We would train that way 3 times a day. A little over a week later he finally caught on. It's something that you have to do repeatedly until the barking stops.
I have a lot of packages delivered each week via UPS, USPS or FedEx so they were actually included as a part of his training. He still barks occasionally when he's in the back yard but all we say is "Shush" and it stops.
hi i have a min pin who is 2 months old and she is very hyper lol.i also have a 2 year old chichiphua and my min pin is always looking to bite her. she like to bite alot on my boys as well. please help me with showing her to be nice n not chew on her leader and others?????
@JerkingNinja thats why u need to get the tail shortened to prevent it from breaking. i own 4 min pins so if u need any min pin advice fell free to send me messages or comments!
I don't have children.....My min pin is great with everyone......babies, kids, children, adults, elderly.......anyone who is willing to pet her. I think its all on how you train min pins. Min Pins are great dogs.
@toyotabrandy11 i also own a min pin and he'll be nine soon. he's great with all people including children and other dogs. it definitely is all about how you train them. i love this breed.
BTW these dogs are kinda rough when they play. They go hard or not at all...all teeth and nails and if you own a MinPin you know they use those front paws like cats, lol. Countless times my dog's claws alone have welted my skin up, lol.
We have a MinPin who is now 8 years old...got him when he was a puppy. He is the sweetest creature ever, but he is also very neurotic. He LOVES to play as he's always in the bowing position. He doesn't bite, you could stick your hand in his food dish and he politely waits till you move it. He likes people; however he's kinda standoffish around men, which is kinda weird because he adores my brother and dad. If he sees a man, he'll look at him and kinda "huff" at him, but he won't charge or growl.
I do not reccomend one if you have small children. I have 3 min pins and mine don't do good with small children like most other min pins. You should look at corgi's or a more gentle breed. good luck:)
@thebreyergal101 This depends on how young the dog is when they're exposed to children. My neighbor has one that's never around them and it barks at my younger siblings.
The one we have was bred in a house filled with kids so he's fine.
@knoxrox506 i take my min pin to the dog park on a daily basis, so it can get socialized with lots of other dogs and see me petting lots of other dogs. she was very possessive until she got used to me being around other dogs. now she is fine.
i want to get a house dog and really like the min pin i have 2 young kids if anyone knows can they please inform me how they are i did a bit of reserce and got a micks responce
@oreilg1 my min pin does well with children, even small kids. however, the min pin especially will take A LOT of time to train in order to social them. so i would not suggest that someone with small kids get one because of the time it takes to train.
i have 2 min pins. it really depends on how u train them. both of mine can tolerate young children but they also like to rough house with them. They are also very curious especially if there is a baby crying
Sounds goofy but I always ask/request that I pick mine up. Same wth the cat. I say "can i pick you up?" if she doesn't want me to, she sits. Makes sense, how you you like it if someone just came along and snatched you up? You wouldn't. They're very proud remember.
I have kept Doberman for years, then i got my 2 yr old min pin! What a monster. She is soo loving to the close family, but always wants to play agressively. Only thing is she is so dominant its a joke. Huge dogs are petrified of her and she will charge and try to bite strangers. Thing is people show fear to her which only encourages her. Night Mare, but she had improved a little. what can i do??
most dogs a petrified of her.. doberman, german shepards, mulumutes, rotties and labs to name a few. they actually hide behind people to avoid her. its pretty sad actually
A Tad childish no? You are the one who is calling a compleate stranger childish names. Yes i have no doubt that ur dog, or most others could "rip my dog apart". I never said she was tough, she THINKS shes tough (thats the word educated people use rather than "Tuff").. key word there is 'thinks'. Its a psycological thing.
Now go find a dictionary, Maybe you will find some grown up words to use next time you want to be rude to someone huh? Since everyone here now thinks your a retard hmmm?
Lol yeah ok , Lets all act like college proffesers here and act like we are really educated , And log into my other youtube account and agree with myself , Thats really mature
I think you will find that, im a Marine Geoscientist so no pretending there... and actually i must confess that Deano is my fiancee. That was childish of him, but he was only having a little fun. He actually doesnt give a damn about this. So yes i am mature, and acted in a mature manner.
@jasdiofa my min pin has taken down several pit bulls, to the amazement of the pit bull owners. of course, if the pits didn't give up, they may have won the fight. still, my min pin latched to the side of their necks and each of the pits ended up on their backs in the submissive position. interpret this however you like.
I had min pins for over 20 yrs, it's like living with gremlins, we had to put child guards on all the drawers and cupboards, they love to play a very aggressive game of hide and seek, where you jump out and scare the shit out of them then run like hell then let them take you down like a little pack of four legged pirannah...good times, now I have a cat
for those of you considering getting a min pin, he is absolutely right about them bouncing all over the walls. I would recommend having a fence or gate in your front yard because that is how our dog Penny was killed. She thought she was being taken outside to play and just bolted out the door and was hit by a truck one night. She was a wonderful dog and even my dad who claims he is not a dog person, was taken in by her and he trained her to grab the remote for him when we were watching TV.
Okay, so this might not be the brightest idea, but I've heard that Min-Pins if gotten from a puppy can be raised around babies and little children. I'm currently 8 months pregnant, and I'm considering on a dog when the baby is born. Would you recommend a Min-Pin or some other dog? I've always been in LOVE with Min-Pins, and I can't tear myself away. Any advice/ideas?
to YaoiHarlot666 -- I got a 30 day-old mixed min pin and have been raising her by myself. I'm very quiet and my house is usually very calm. She doesn't stay inside as much as I'd like because my mom doesn't like "dog smell". But she's the sweetest thing ever. All she wants to do is play (5 months old now), with other dogs she seems aggressive cuz she'll try and "hug" the other dog's neck (they usually hate that from her haha) and with people she'll just jump on the lap asking for a belly-rub :)
min pins are a great dog! i have one who is very protective of me with strangers, but he loves children. if you get a min pin as a pup when you have your baby, you should have no problems at all! i hope you decide to get a min pin, i would never want another breed!
i want to get a minpin too, Im not a dog expert but If u get the dog as a puppy Im prtty sure it will be ok but U may want to someone more proffenional then me cause im only 12 lol
Please help me. I am the boyfriend and all-of-a-sudden my girlfriend has a min pin for her 10 year old daughter. The thing hates me and will not let me touch her or even walk towards her with being chased after or barked at and threatened. I hate this dog so much and they both just love it. I have always loved dogs, but I think this thing is so nasty. What can I do? I am trying to convince myself it is cute. I am going to get myself in trouble. I am horrified. :-( Please see the below comment.
bad dogs if you know nothing about them and never had a dog in your life, don't know how to train, then you are given a hand-me-down minpin which is five years old the previous owner does not want anymore. The thing still pisses in every room, sometimes on the weewee. I thought weewee pads were for training, not for permanent use in the house. The dog barks in our face during supper and tears at the table cloth. It threatens and attacks any visitor who goes near the two girls it lives with now.
We rescued a min pin approximately 3 months ago from a local shelter. He's 5 years old and was already house broken when we got him which is a huge plus. He's a joy to have around and is not aggressive towards other people or dogs, however he tend to favor only me and my daughter for attention. He ignores the males in my household. He's stubborn to training and would bark when the doorbell rings so we had to train him not to bark at the doorbell which took about a week.
@OTCS I have a similar story, I just got a 3yr old minpin from the city pound, its house broken but it barks everytime she hears a footstep outside, any tips on what you did to the your dog so it can stop? thank you.
hi i also have a mini pin chi mix he is crazy agressive to people and other dogs, overal a very sweet dog in the house. i got mine from the pound you never know what youve got untill you bring them home
my miin pin is now 14 yrs and is FINALLY controllable! High energy doesnt begin to describe the activity level. He's been mtn. climbing and managed to scale boulders I could not. Absolutely the most entertaining dog I've ever had.
i have a min pin three pounds and 6 months old but he runs and chases u and it is very common for a min pin to run they do think their big so yes they are very curious, it is possible to train them not to run away but it will take a while!!
My min pin recently died of cancer. He was a rescue and lived a long time. He danced, jumped into your arms and would sleep under blankets. He was also an actor. One time we accidently hurt his foot and we showed him alot of sympathy, as he was limping, then we caught him doing it with the wrong foot...lol, I miss my dog so much and am looking into adopting another min pin from rescue! They are high energy dogs, good watch dogs and love long walks.
We rescued our Minpin a year ago and we love her. We are still learning about her and her about us. She is lovable and smart and thanks us everyday by learning good habits and being so amusing. She is intelligent and such a happy little dog. Her barking is getting less, but we accept that as just trying to "talk" to us. I am retired, but she and the cat give me many reasons not to slow down!
People get this cute little dog only cuz its cute n little. I have owned 2, one was aggressive and one was very docile. They are very energetic, protective, independent, and moody. This is not the type of dog for a slow, old, or lazy person who doesn't have the time to invest in the pet. If you want high maintenance, this is the dog for you. But, buyer beware, they live for about 15+ years and get diabetes, cataracts, pancreatic problems, and different cancers. My favorite breed of dog.
Thanks for the info! I'm wondering if you'd like to chat? I'm seriously considering a Miniature Pinscher, so I've been researching a lot on the breed. I'm def ready to get up and active and I think a dog would encourage me to walk at east twice a day. I'm also lucky enough to have a fenced yard and I do own an Irish Terrier so I can deal with strong caracters. I'd like to know more though from someone with experience with the breed!
My min pin is playful yet very protective. If he's tired/laying down, he can't be bothered, when he's eating, other dogs/pets shouldn't be around either. Mine loves food and gets mean if other dogs share his. I also stopped giving him chew bones, because if a person or dog tries to take it, he does get violent. I hope this helps but each min pin hasa different level of temper. Some are pretty mild/calm and some are more aggressive.
:\ My min pin tried to take on this boxer that came into my yard last night. Doesn't think he's a small dog at all. Also he did scare off a pitt bull puppy back when he was only a couple of months old. I don't think that helped his ego. Love min pins!
I have two min pins and know other people with min pins and they are not reallly all that violent. One of my dogs growl at the other when he has a treat but i am actually able to go and pet my min pins while they're eating. You should remember all dogs have different personalities before you start stereotyping them!!!
they dont tink their small haha i hear ya, mine thinks hes 10 feet tall nd bullet proof, h chasses the german shepherds and acts like the owner of em all
so got one like 3 hours ago and its 8 weeks 4 days old and i dont really know if i want it and ya so some one sould tell me if they r worth kepping and if not still tell me plzz umm ya thnks
Did you research a list of breeds you like before just up and buying a Min Pin? Did you even go and meet one in person before buying it? Sounds more like you do not want a dog than not wanting the Min Pin as what would possess you to get one and suddenly not want it? YOU have to figure out whether you want it or not. Biggest problems with Min Pin is their energy, their tendencies to use their cuteness against you and that they act like a big dog.
P.S. No one should tell you if they are worth it because every dog fits a certain personality which is why you RESEARCH the dog. Look up the dog's traits and if you do not think you can handle it, then PLEASE do not keep it only to struggle with it.
Are you for real? Dude, you just got it. They can be annoying (I just got my baby a few days ago) because they cry to be let out of the kennel. You hardly know the dog. Keep him/her, don't be a bad pet owner.
mirraco333. I think you are trolling. Noone is this thoughtless. I dont want to sound cliche but dogs are for life. They are part of your family. You don't go get a dog then think "oh i don't want it anymore". I would never think of a dog as not "worth keeping". Clearly you should have stuck with a fish.
I love my min pin she just turned 2. she is as hipper now as when she was at 16weeks old... they are smart and they will always find a way out of everything... my advise is if you get one do not spoil them, that is the worse thing you can do. i would know..lol i had to send my min pin for training cuz she was so bad i didn't know what to do...shes still her self but she knows the word no! and 9 of 10 she will fallow the commends. i love her to death shes my baby. good luck! ps shes on youtube
he is very smart, too smart sometimes try to disobey commands..
we tried to threathen him wif a cane but one day he got loose n bite the cane into pieces.. n he noes it when he done something wrong, he will stay in his cage n refuse to come out..
but i still adore him..
n YES! he thinks he's a big dog..very proud but loyal to my family.. very protective.. definitely a good 'BIG'-sized guard dog!
And it's not true that it should be the only pet dog. I have an actually doberman pinscher as well and they are precious. They love to sleep together! and when they play they're sooo cute. GET A MINIATURE PINSCHER. I swear you wouldn't ever regret it :)

This is one breed of dog that looks small but really isn't. They are really cute, but i think if someone is looking for their first dog, this is not the best breed to pick.

Remember that pins were ratters (or "critter controllers") one reason why they are extremely fast, small, hyper, and good senses (of course like most dogs.)
emorockel 7 months ago
@emorockel
you're extremely correct there. :) mine used to be a roach-buster 'til she kinda became lazy. i guess it's due to her old age.

Buyahomeinazcom 8 months ago
@Buyahomeinazcom no kidding there with the digging. mine acts like shes digging through my couch cushions, making her way under them.lol
superkushlover 7 months ago
@superkushlover She "acts like"? Mine flat out has dug holes in the couch. My doggie would never bite anyone and lets little kids poke her and grab her ears-but God forbid you let her around another dog. I had to wrestle her off the face of a pit bull that wondered into our yard-as in she jumped up and clamped on to its face. At least the pit thought she was playing. It could kill her without even trying!
pupawupagus 7 months ago
Agree with everything you said but it would have been nice if you mentioned , in addition to 'breeders', adopting a MinPin from a bona fide rescue group. Because these dogs are not the breed for every family, many are given up to rescuers and shelters. If you research the MinPin and are convinced this breed is for you, rescueing one can save the life of a perfectly great dog. I know, I've adopted 3! Check out minpinrescue . org

xXnorrusian23 10 months ago
Mine is 13 and a Min Pin/Mini Greyhound. She HATES children and tried to bite a drunk guy's face off when he decided to take her pig ear away from her with his mouth. I can tell when she's going to bite and I usually get the kid out of the way in time. This is AFTER I tell the parent NOT to let the child near her; they seem to think "oh, she won't bite my child." She's a good baby and responds to commands (thankfully); she will sometimes pout and act like she can't hear when she gets "offended."
KATTRAX 10 months ago
@KATTRAX sometimes drunk guys deserve to have their faces bitten off. ESPECIALLY when stolen pig ears are involved.

Hmm my min pin (molly) isn't all that feisty, I've had her since she was a pup and was the runt of the litter and she is really small not as big as they should normally be. but besides all that. She loves to go for a walk to do her "business" And mainly sleeps all day long until she's ready to go outside again by scratching on the door. she's not to good with kids.Other then all that I love my molly wolly :)

flowergurl2010jk 11 months ago

Must have patience tho!

i own a total of 4 Min Pins and they are the sweetest towards me and my family! we have to keep them locked in there crates and either keep them in our storage room or my mom's room if we have company over cause they will bark their heads off. but other than that they are sweet! i mean they are full grown. but the Min Pin he showed us in the vid, Damian isnt it? was way bigger than the standard size of a min pin! standard size for a min pin is 10 to 12.5 inches at the withers (Shoulders).

The entire family took turns ringing the doorbell or knocking repeatedly day and night for an entire week. We would repeat the process at least 10/12 times during training, knocking or ringing for about 15/20 minutes.
OTCS 1 year ago
I would say "Shush" while he barked and when he stopped I would give him a bacon treat. We got him to focus on us or the treat rather than the ringing. Each family member took turns doing that until he would finally stop barking. We would train that way 3 times a day. A little over a week later he finally caught on. It's something that you have to do repeatedly until the barking stops.
OTCS 1 year ago
I have a lot of packages delivered each week via UPS, USPS or FedEx so they were actually included as a part of his training. He still barks occasionally when he's in the back yard but all we say is "Shush" and it stops.

funnyjunk011 2 years ago 2

You should look at corgi's or a more gentle breed. good luck:)

for those of you considering getting a min pin, he is absolutely right about them bouncing all over the walls.

All she wants to do is play (5 months old now), with other dogs she seems aggressive cuz she'll try and "hug" the other dog's neck (they usually hate that from her haha) and with people she'll just jump on the lap asking for a belly-rub :)

bad dogs if you know nothing about them and never had a dog in your life, don't know how to train, then you are given a hand-me-down minpin which is five years old the previous owner does not want anymore.

Love min pins!

they are extremely violent wen it comes to food no joke
pitbull5341 2 years ago
I have two min pins and know other people with min pins and they are not reallly all that violent. One of my dogs growl at the other when he has a treat but i am actually able to go and pet my min pins while they're eating. You should remember all dogs have different personalities before you start stereotyping them!!!

HammandClov 2 years ago

And it's not true that it should be the only pet dog. I have an actually doberman pinscher as well and they are precious. They love to sleep together! and when they play they're sooo cute. GET A MINIATURE PINSCHER. I swear you wouldn't ever regret it :)

you are sooo right.
My mini gets along with my moms chihuahuas, she plays, eats and takes naps with both of them.
you have to be carefull @ first because mini pins do play rough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm thinking about getting a min pin.
i was wondering how heavy yours is?
do they bite?
neonkiidox33 2 years ago
mine is 8 pounds, she is 5 months young,
and she bites less and less as the days go by.
she only bites when she is playing. but not hard; more like a playfull bite.
she plays with my moms chihuahua, and my moms chihuahua is only 4 pounds.
P.S.
they are smart, and will push you, and keep pushig to see what they can get away with.
but they are just fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!
hope this helps!!!!!!!!!
