The instrument at 1:23 is a soprano sax, not an alto, if that's what you meant.
And being able to tell the difference by sound just comes with experience of listening to all the instruments. The soprano sax has a much smoother sound than an oboe does, in my opinion.
As for french horn and trombone, the trombone is typically lower than the french horn, as trombone parts are usually in the bass cleff and french horn in the treble clef.
Alto saxophones are curved. It was a Soprano saxophone. They sound completely different from oboes, at least to saxophone players. But it's especially obvious from looking at it, being a Soprano sax player, and the fact that I know the score.
Your percussion is easily your worst section. Sorry, but they were not locked in together, and surprisingly, the rest of the band was great at staying in time.

the French Horn is much more rich and smooth. It also plays in the treble clef and tends to have more rips in music.
It's just all around more beautiful and AMAZING!

I don't know why, but the soprano sax solo reminds me of Stravinsky's "The Rite Of Spring"
Awesome piece!
