Monkey Island 2 ending feels like hastly made, as if the creators didn't had enough time to find a serious ending. When Guybrush did everything on all first 3 island, he has to get in the crate, two guys arrive and say "let's put it in the truck". This part just doesn't fit. And of course the endgame. The treasure of Big Whoop is *drum*... a ticket ! Lechuck is... your brother like in Starwars ! How original ha ha ha... The ending feels like... nothing than a poor joke. I always felt crooked ;(
@piopoulip However, in the commentary for the special edition, the developers say that you have to understand a lot of science stuff in order to understand the ending, so maybe it is more complicated than you think. I'm not saying I understand it, but i think it's very deep.
@TheLazysketcher Ok, so if you watch closely at the end Elaine says something about Guybrush being under a SPELL ( seriously, capitol letters in-game) So basically, Lechuck tricked him into believing he is in some child-like fantasy, sort of forever trapping him in the Big Whoop Carnival thing. The other ending is Lechuck using the Voodoo doll on HIM and sending him to a dimension of infinite pain. Try monkey island 3 is you can, they explain it better than me lol
Just like Han Solo is captured at the end of Empire Strikes Back, Guybrush is in the clutches of LeChuck at the end of the second game. Thanks for the video.
I don't understand why some fans claim that it's obvious that all was a child's fantasy. HELLO? Chuckie's evil face in the end? Elaine wondering if Guybrush isn't under some kind of SPELL(word in capitals)?
@ClassicToonFan64 Curious how many people may have skipped that part with Elaine during the credits. They'll need to play Curse of Monkey Island if they get the chance.
@ClassicToonFan64 Hello? How about listening the last commentary? The ending was never thought until the last 2 months, and it only was a challenge between Ron Dave and Tim for creating the most twisted possible conclusion. Curse was made to please the fans, I wouldn't count it as the only canon, they're two: 1) Guybrush and LeChuck are kids sort of roleplaying in a park and that's the whole thing, doesn't need a third chapter 2) Guybrush makes a spell on guybrush thus creating CMI timeline
The ending to this made me laugh for a long time. It was completly strange and made little to no sence at all. Funniest ending to a game I've ever experanced. Here's hoping Monkey Island 3 gets a remake in the future.
@Shadnic17 Well, they explained it nicely in MI3. There are speculations that Ron Gilbert had plans for his own MI3. One for sure - LeChuck is real in this story.

Well, The Curse of Monkey Island explained this ending quite nicely. By the way - hopefully we will get Special Edition of MI3&4
