I'm currently looking for a new amp. I saw a review of this little gem in a magazine, but hearing it live is worth so much more. I think I'm gonna buy this amp, because of this video :)
Btw, what was that song you where playing? Just impro, or does it have a title and a transcription?
I was in the store and tested this amp. However it sounded extremely muffled. I put the tone knob up to 10 and I wished it would go up all the way to 20. I didn't understand it, cause all the reviews I read and heared on the net, promised something better... I checked with a SG and a Paula... Maybe that very amp I tested was damaged. It also was to loud for me, as I was in need of a small practice amp, and this babe definitly is made for small gigs, not your bedroom :)
Thanks realdocolo, because yours reviews of VOX AC-4TV and Class 5, i have at home a VOX AC-4TV combo and a cabinet V112TV,.....and now i have ordered a Laney CUB10. Thanks.
Well, I have the Class 5 too, and the price is right: amazing amp for overdriven tones (and its 5W are as loud as the Cub10W). The Cub 10 has great clean tones, but its crunch tones are not that great, except if you're using a pedal.
Can I ask you if that would work as my "Marshall" Wannabe? I know you have the Marshall Class5, but I can´t find it in Brazil, and it´s much more excpensive, could I get a nice Marshall Kinda tone out of this Laney? Thank you man, nice playing
Magnifique Doc... Particulierement avec le Ts 808 Beaucoup de gens trash cette guitare mais finalement avec un bon ampli elle a l'air de plutot bien sonné :)
( j'espere ne pas m'etre trompé de doc et que tu es bien francais ! )
I have only tried the Ac4 and I love it. The Cub10 I can only judge by youtube videos, but for me it sounds even better than the vox. One good feature on the vox is the power attenuator which the Laney doesn't have. It's hard to decide between both. But I currently have no amp, so I need one. (I sold my Roland Micro Cube, the only amp I've hever had.. :P).
I have both (check my Ac4 tests). Very different amps, you just can't compare or say which one is "better" - it depends on your tone taste. Both are good anyway.
It has a master volume.. Still, you have to push it a bit to get rather satisfying crunch tones, or rely to pedals if you want to keep the volume low.
do you find it hard to play without fret inlays? i'd really like to know if it's much of a setback because it seems to me thats the only thing that could make this guitar better.
man is there a tab for this because it fricking rock`sssssssssssssss??????

I mean guitar seems soft to play on , the tone is great I said nothing about that :)
fedja85 1 year ago
The guitar seems so soft , or maybe its your playing that makes it look like that :)
fedja85 1 year ago
@fedja85 : here, it's the playing and the amp - you can make it roar too, don't worry
realdocloco 1 year ago
I think people with your skills make every amp sound good. But this looks a very fine bedroom amp (although 10w is still very loud).
Nice video!

Hey dude, does this thing have more headroom as a valve junior, a class 5 and all those 5watt amps? xD
cheers!
MFJord1 2 years ago
Yes it does (logically: it's a 10W amp).
realdocloco 2 years ago
enough headroom for a tiny gig u think?
ty!
MFJord1 2 years ago
Maybe, depend of the band.

Well thanks for saying me that :/ Is it more Metal stuff then? The Marshall Class 5 costs twice as much with half the watt, damn why Marshall

I'm afraid not, it's not "marshall-y" at all.

How does the guitar play and sound to you compared to regular sg's?

I bought this amp yesterday, I love it. What pedal are you using here? I love the sound.

What do you think if the Cub 10? Is it good for a bedroom amp?
EuropeFactor 2 years ago
would it be loud enough to play together with drums in a live band?
hofmen75 2 years ago
With a soft drummer and for rather quiet music, maybe.
realdocloco 2 years ago
do u use a pedal or what (to get that bluesy sound)?

sounds very good--the most wicked cool guitar ever

Would this amp be capable for some serious metal stuff with a pedal such as Digitech - Death Metal Distortion or something ?

It has a master volume.. Still, you have to push it a bit to get rather satisfying crunch tones, or rely to pedals if you want to keep the volume low.

not a problem at all - there's markers at the side of the neck. And the fretboard is so beautifull all black :-)

thats such an easy question obviously someone with a account name like pwnyouatsoccer would say that... loser... lol

Would it be loud enough to play together with drums?

Probably, but for rather quiet music (blues, blues-rock in small pubs)

hello sir may I know your settings on the amp?

As shown on the picture at the start: volume on 4, gain on 5, tone on 5, input high

oops sorry i missed it on the video thanks!

great playin and nice guitar, but it dont sound to me like a regular sg ...

Of course it doesn't - that's the point. I have many SG's and I don't want one more sounding the same.
