Indeed....zig and zag were legends...dustin and soky held their ground for a long time...but sadly..they too are fading...things just aren't the same...sometimes change isn't good..:(
It was the law in ireland until the 70's that pubs must be closed on st. patrick's day. This getting yourself drunker than George Bush in the 80's is a recent thing. I too remember having a coke and tayto in the pub with the family. good times. I live in oz now and i'm suddenly very home sick.
Amen to that Valentine. I'm here in the States now (where I meet Captain Shamrocks on a daily basis) and I miss the home of my youth - not the Ireland of today. It's true what they say, you can never go back.
You see?! This was Ireland!!! Not the night club obsessive, pub worshiping, pimp wannabe the way it is now!!! This was when Irish TV was bearable, before they tried to be Americans! Why can't things stay the same?! WHY?!!! We should go back & be the way we were! We're Irish, not 50 cent!!!
the americanized irish! i don't geddit! the whole pub thing has always been irish but it was never as bad as it is now! i just remember having taytos and coke with my sis on st.patrick's day (bored outta my mind!) while my mom and her friends had a few drinks! but they never got drunk. people nowadays think that st.patrick's day is an excuse to go out and get hammered. i don't understand it at all!

I am living in Oz too now and fondly remember watching the Den when I was younger. It was so funny. I have happy memories.
