  • Just shows how ahead of her time she was :) awesome

  • Jopsehine Baker was the woman who have the dance in the making the boss of entertianment there was one where Beyonce pays tribute to Josephine Baker :)

  • Haha! Too funny

  • Wow!! this so works for me. Since Beyonce performed at Josephine Baker's recent 100th birthday celebration I would have loved to have seen them play this clip to this song. As Little Richard would say there is nothing new under the sun, what you see has already been done, and Josephine is a true original. A+

  • damn, beyonce copies again

  • This is too good. And the music goes right along with this video clip! Love it..

  • This was nice, but having Josephine Baker dance to Beyonce's music is an insult to Josephine Baker. Josephine Baker paved the way for so many, fought discrimanation, was the most famous woman in the world at her time, which was no small task because this was at a time when blacks couldnt even eat in resturants in the US. The legacy of Josephine should not be compared to Beyonce. That's like showing Michael Jackson dancing to some new hip artist in 30 years.

  • @cameronstl I believe the point is to show the relevence of her style in the twenties and how she set a trend that is heavily influenced today. OUTSIDE THE BOX PEOPLE!!!!! COME ON

  • @cameronstl

You're so wrong ... Beyoncé is inspired by Josephine baker, She's one of her icones. You talk about Beyoncé like she was nothing, but you're wrong. She's a talented woman, and role model for every women in this planet, independant, proud, she built her own career with her talent, she's a business woman, sexy and she represents women not only black women but women like Josephine did ... The fight is different today

  • J'avais déja vu la même association entre les chorégraphies de Fred Astaire et la musique de M. Jackson. C'est toujours aussi saisissant. Of course, ça prouve que les artistes actuels marchent dans les même pas que leurs ancêtres.

  • I wonder what Josephine would say about Beyoncé... Love them both, nice video! ^^

  • Hmmm, I see JA dancing. Whine Jo, whine.

  • Absolutely Bannalious. There is no need to hate or compare Josephine to Beyonce, Shakaria or Lady Gaga. It is obvious that there is always someone who came before.Smooches and hats off to Josephine!

  • MARAVILHOSOOOOOOOOOO ESTE VIDEO.....PARABENS AO CREADOR......

  • Fabu! The legs! This was what the flappin' 1920's was all about!Nicely put together.(Even if i was tricked into it through the name)makes Gaga and the rest look like a bore almost a 100 years later.

  • Ha Ha!!! Look at the chick hating in the back with her hand to her head.....LMAO

  • smh why is Beyonce mentioned in every video on here? leave her alone btw i love this video

  • Beyonce jacked her style for real lmao.

  • @coolasice20 ya think?lol she did

  • I think you should have made this song with her banana dance i think that makes B & Shakira look like their newbies to dance!!

  • @bboywonder69 lol I know thats right. Better yet the whole world better recongise!

  • Lol cute!

  • beautiful video, remixed is really orrible,,,

  • glad someone else caught that miss b was.. um... borrowing from josephine..

  • That was a very creative video mixing. Great job! I can't believe the quality of the original movie. That was awesome!

  • Visst är det ett fantastiskt bra videoklipp av en fantastisk dansös, och en fantastisk människa. Synd bara att det var helt felaktig musik. Det ska vara violinmusik till den här dansen. Totally wrong music, not the original one!Tack i alla fall!

  • She was a wonderful dancer but I don't like the modern music while she is dancing.

  • outstanding job on video mixing music with footage. josephine baker was the shit, she is still adored in france. For assisting the French Resistance during World War II and she became the first American-born woman to receive the French military honor, the Croix de Guerre.

  • lol Go on, Girl!

  • talk about re mixed and re imagined! Great!

  • one of the best dancers in the history of dancing....

  • Girlfriend is s-w-i-n-g-i-n-g those hips for all to see!!!lol Go JB!

  • @NaturalGloLady JB !! For a sec i thought u were talkin about bieber LMAO

  • WOW... u got talent...that vid blew me away and yes I have a shrine to Josephine Baker in my living room... met Jean Claude, ate at Chez Josephine... lit a candle at the Church of the Magdalene and that that video made me feel as if I just saw her in person. THANKS!

  • JB was a legend, she help integrate clubs and refused to perform if they did not comply. She helped during the World War II as well. . She adopted kids from all races and ,was lovely called the rainbow tribe. I love JB may God and sweet Jesus bless her soul. Thanks for posting, it was funny, these dancer today have nothin on Mrs. Baker.

  • I am the biggest Josphine Baker fan in the world......and I love this,....its hot how you did that.....very nice tribute!

  • Baker is the queen of show girls!

  • shes the queen of entertaining!

  • Awe sis I cant believe you just sent this to me :)

  • huh?

  • oh a friend of mine sent me this video cause I liked the song. It was a nice thought so I sent her a shout out. Did you make this video sis its really good?

  • yeah its my video. i took the clip of josephine and added the music and stuff.

  • THANK YOU for posting this. People trying to say Beyonce stole that dance from Shakira. LEARN YOUR HISTORY FOOL!

  • No. The dance was inspired by Josephine Baker. Beyonce even said it herself, so stop trying to give Shakira credit for something she had nothing to do with. Shakira was NOT the first person to rock that hairstyle or belly dancing and that's NOT the first time Beyonce wore her hair like that or belly danced.

Next time come with facts, not made up bull.

  • @Larae718 I never heard Beyonce say nothing about Ms Josephine Baker just saying

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 Back in 2006 she did an interview with Diane Sawyer where she spoke about her. She did a tribute to Josephine Baker for Fashion Rocks.

  • @Larae718 I dont rarely watch Diane Sawyer so I probably missed but seriously shock cause she never mentioned her before. Was Diane nice to her?

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 She never mentioned her before because she has never did anything similar to JB until Deja Vu. For the Diane Sawyer interview, I missed it on tv but read it on the ABC website. It should still be up there.

  • @Larae718 ok I'll look and check it out but look a Josephine Baker Banana dance and tell me what two people does that remind you of.lol

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 Oh, if you type in "Beyonce Interview 106 July 2006" on youtube you will hear her talk about her. It starts at 6:29. :)

  • @Larae718 ok I'll check it out but every move that Beyonce does is based upon Josephine Baker and Tina Turner. She got a thing about pulling things from the past and not twinkin it but just sexify it or make it look even more provative then the peice of art was.Dont take it personal but thats just my point of view.

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 Because she looks up to them, so why wouldn't she? She may be sexy and push the envelope, but she doesn't cross the line. Tina Turner didn't have a problem with it and I'm sure if Josephine Baker was alive, she wouldn't either.

  • @Larae718 I think she does she goes way too far for me

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 Really, how?

  • @Larae718 oh man lol lets not go there because I be on here all day LMAO but to yeah she goes overboard. The thrusting, gyrating, grinding all over the place its just to me not exceptable.

  • @NIJEECAPRICORN20 Then I guess you weren't to fond of Josephine Baker either. Oh well, lol. :)

  • @Larae718 Actually I like Josephine Baker shes very flambouyant and most people dont realize that she was recognized as a humourous comedic dancer but as she grew up she expanded her range. Josephine to me is more of a natural performer thats just how I feel. She rarely had a choreographer she was the choreographer.

  • this is a gorgeous video so rare to find baker footage thanks for posting

  • it's like she dancing to the song well done

  • Hi, I love your choice of music! It fits the video perfectly! I think it also shows a lot of love and respect for Josephine Baker. Beyonce is a big fan of hers, so that really ties in well. I did that Josephine - Juana la Cubana video, so I know that you put a lot of work into this. I think you did a first rate job! 5 stars!

  • thank you so much! ur video was such a huge inspiration to me to make this video!
