  • RIP. Garland Nash ...Aloha and Mahalo...Keep Steel Guitar Alive !!!

  • I like this very much thank u! C6/A7 tuning I think...anyways...GOOD!

  • too cool! can anyone give me any ideas of some artists similiar

  • dam this is the stuff

  • After replaying this video 7,497 times, I still love hearing and trying to play along.

And thanks to my wife for never complaining about hearing it all those times.

    Thank you

  • Correction... the tuning is the Jerry Byrd C6th and he's playing it like Jerry did. The tuning is E C A G E C# also called C6th+A7th

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing that! Mr.Nash's playing is truly awesome!!

  • Wish I could find more of this style of playing. This tune has a snappy beat. Bet he's keeping the angels happy.

  • Wowee!!

  • Has been a long time since I heard Garland and Wayne pick...Many years ago, the two of them worked with my husband, Billy Puckett and I in a band...I have only heard one other steel picker that was equal, or close. Not to mention he was a perfect Gentleman, and a gentle man...He is missed, I am sure of that...GOD rest your soul Garland... Joyce

  • Wow, amazing playing. May his playing be with us forever.

    :'(

    Aloha,

    William

  • cojonudo!!!!

  • QUEL TALENT!!!******

  • Beautiful playing! It's so great motivation to see. And a great memory for you to have of your friend too. Thanks for sharing the video :)

  • BRAVO!!!

  • very nice what tuning and key any tab

  • SWEET

He would have been a joy to play with!

  • Can't say I'm a fan of this kind of music yet there is something attractive about the sound of that slide. And this guy really rocked :D Sorry to hear that he passed :(

  • I've watched several others playing this song and none of them come close to him. He has something I can't explain-a feel for the instrument. I know him and he was not only an excellent artist but a wonderful person. I still miss him.

  • Outstanding! Do you give steel lessons?

  • Mr. Nash is deceased.

  • I love this song, but on the pedal guitar its like its sounds so Island, I'm really buying one of these pedal guitars

  • Great rendition, but if you want to hear real feeling and emotion, watch and listen to Stacey Phillips version on YOUTUBE.

  • It's great to think I'll still be able to learn how to play this guitar when I'm old. Oh yeah I'm 59 just now LOL

  • He was the real deal. No one plays like that now.

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!!

  • Bill - Thanks for sharing your awesome videos!! CAP'N

  • I never knew of this great player, Bill he was great and I would have liked to met him, so much talent so much beautiful music people don't want to hear anymore, they would rather listen to a bunch of Screaming Rock and roll so called Country,Thanks for this, Bill Howard

  • ... he remembers to put the 3 note hawaiian signature "vamp"in - they make big fun of that in tahiti & put it into each song about 23 xs for a goof ...

  • The trouble with seeing guys like this play is that you either want to go and practice more, or you want to go burn your lap steel. Amazing! R.I.P Mr. Garland.

  • That was really amazing. Perfect.

  • Mr. Garland was my brother-in-law's uncle. Everybody in that family are wonderfully talented musicians.

Wish we had more of Mr. Garland's playing than we do. RIP

  • Wow...flawless technique. He really made it sing.

  • Now that's good!

  • He sounded fantastic.

    Loved it.

I'm sorry he's no longer around. The loss is apparent from this great video.

  • Wonderful... Now thats what I call for real talent. Thanks for the great memories.

    Buzz Pierce, Michigan

  • Hotdamn! What a great player!

  • I had to go out and buy a lap steel after watching this! I love the hawaiian sound and this guys playing is from another era that is seldom seen today, I don't care who you are! Pedal steel only makes playing easier, so I would like to give him his props! lol Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.

  • how beautiful, i loved it when he would play for me :). rip uncle garland ♥

  • good work !

  • Hell of a picker,really neat insrument.

  • wonderful playing

  • I really love this and miss him. Would love it if you had more of his music to share!

  • Thats exactly how it should be done!!!!

  • Very very good. Love this song !!!

  • So good!

  • Stumbled on this by chance. Real class guys. Well done and a great memory of a terrific player. I've favourited this and sent it on to my friends.

  • Wow that was quick! Newbie to You Tube, and finding my way around...slowly...but it's wonderful, how the talents of people can be shared and remembered. Thanks again (as I head for a lap steel to retune it). O;-)

  • Beautiful....the way a lap steel should be played! I'd also love to know what tuning he's using.

  • Here is the tuning Garland used. It's just like strings 2-7 on C6 Pedal Steel: E,C,A,G,E,C

  • Superb, love it !!

  • Garland was a great player, and will be missed. Enjoyed so much playing in a couple of bands with him. So just to say good bye to a friend. Steve Danielson

  • RIP Garland wonderful playing, as everyone has said. I'm truly sorry for your loss

  • u rock, wish this kind of music was still played more often

  • I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that. I play delta slide ok but just purchased a Harmony H7 (Roy Smeck?)sort of like that one this week... The bar is set pretty high and I am truly inspired.
