Has been a long time since I heard Garland and Wayne pick...Many years ago, the two of them worked with my husband, Billy Puckett and I in a band...I have only heard one other steel picker that was equal, or close. Not to mention he was a perfect Gentleman, and a gentle man...He is missed, I am sure of that...GOD rest your soul Garland... Joyce
Can't say I'm a fan of this kind of music yet there is something attractive about the sound of that slide. And this guy really rocked :D Sorry to hear that he passed :(
I've watched several others playing this song and none of them come close to him. He has something I can't explain-a feel for the instrument. I know him and he was not only an excellent artist but a wonderful person. I still miss him.
I never knew of this great player, Bill he was great and I would have liked to met him, so much talent so much beautiful music people don't want to hear anymore, they would rather listen to a bunch of Screaming Rock and roll so called Country,Thanks for this, Bill Howard
... he remembers to put the 3 note hawaiian signature "vamp"in - they make big fun of that in tahiti & put it into each song about 23 xs for a goof ...
The trouble with seeing guys like this play is that you either want to go and practice more, or you want to go burn your lap steel. Amazing! R.I.P Mr. Garland.
I had to go out and buy a lap steel after watching this! I love the hawaiian sound and this guys playing is from another era that is seldom seen today, I don't care who you are! Pedal steel only makes playing easier, so I would like to give him his props! lol Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
Wow that was quick! Newbie to You Tube, and finding my way around...slowly...but it's wonderful, how the talents of people can be shared and remembered. Thanks again (as I head for a lap steel to retune it). O;-)
Garland was a great player, and will be missed. Enjoyed so much playing in a couple of bands with him. So just to say good bye to a friend. Steve Danielson
Great clip, Steelpicker any Idea of the tuning he uses? Also Many thanx for the Emmons/Charleton clips; great to finally see some images to go with al this music i enjoyed on vinyl for so long now!!
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that. I play delta slide ok but just purchased a Harmony H7 (Roy Smeck?)sort of like that one this week... The bar is set pretty high and I am truly inspired.
RIP. Garland Nash ...Aloha and Mahalo...Keep Steel Guitar Alive !!!

And thanks to my wife for never complaining about hearing it all those times.

Correction... the tuning is the Jerry Byrd C6th and he's playing it like Jerry did. The tuning is E C A G E C# also called C6th+A7th

Mr. Garland was my brother-in-law's uncle. Everybody in that family are wonderfully talented musicians.
Wish we had more of Mr. Garland's playing than we do. RIP
