If you are referring to Industrial, they have little if not nothing at all to do with that genre. While there are traces of post-industrial in early NIN, it's a common misconception that they fall into this genre. If you want a true taste of industrial music, I would highly recommend looking into artists such as SPK, Throbbing Gristle, Test Dept some of Skinny Puppy. NIN's approach to music post-TDS seems to be on par with any other 'Industrial rock' band = OVER-PRODUCTION.

I find that linkin parks version to this song isn't really good. How the hell is nine inch nails not mainstream? trent reznor was signed to a major label for years and I could see his videos on VH1 on a daily basis. thats pretty mainstream.

Theres a difference between having a mainstream sound and being signed to a large label. Soundwise, Trent was definitely NOT mainstream. All the good bands needed financial support from record labels, otherwise their records wouldn't sell.

I find that linkin parks version to this song isn't really good. I mean don't get me wrong I like LP it's just that I find the techno sounds they used for the cover didn't really fit song,I found it to be almost cheerful in a weird sense. NIN has a darker tone to it which I like...BTW if this hurts your ears then you really don't know rock (Yes, I'm talking to you Aurum019)
