  • I heard marvins gaye dad was gay. Heard he like to wear womens clothes, eyeshadow heels, etc.

  • Marvin Gaye's father was a troubled man and haunted by the success of his son that he never could achieve himself. He tried to beat and hate the talent out of Marvin but to no avail. Although the artist was taken, his memory and gentle soul will live on for ever!

  • This is fasinating! You can see the feminine characteristics and look of his dad. He killed his Son eventually. Great footage.. Who is Tatf? Everyone has to die at some point, but its the manner in which we leave that can create the greatest sadness.

  • Body language speaks volumes! Thanks for uploading this.

  • Wow....pops(lookin more like moms) really repped that last name eh?

  • Marvin's father really stood up to the spelling of his last name, Gay. Gay is Marvin's Gaye original name and he felt a little uncomfortable about it when he became famous, so the music industry changed it by putting an E at the end of his name.

  • dude look SWEET as fuck!!!!

  • @porn1978: LOL.

  • @fooloof lol

  • Dad? He killed his son!

  • i hate marvin gaye's father. RIP Marvin Gaye

  • sr is a true fucking ass hole.

  • marvin gayes dad was truly gay acting!

  • this man is REALLY wearing a wig...really.... wow

  • he has on a church woman wig lmao in the words of marvin gaye WHATS GOING ON? lol

  • @ninosimone I KNOW RIGHT! The dad is seriously showing what he's been rumored to do with his wifes clothing behind closed doors. RIP Marvin Gaye.

  • @TheNaturalibra lmao

  • p.s I Love you Marvin

  • Freakin amazing person!

  • Marvin Sr. lived up to his last name. Marvin Jr. looks more "Manly" than his father (A well known cross dresser. Believe it or not!). Marvin Jr. accomplished more in his life than Marvin Sr. ever did.

  • @MeYouView Agreed.

  • Lord Marvin and his father the real Gay wearing his wig

  • I think his dad loved him...Sr. had a drinking problem and Jr. had a drug problem and when those things come into play in an argument something tragic can happen. It's a shame. He died when I was 7 months old and I wish I could have met him. R.I.P. Marvin Gaye Jr. Iisten to your music very often.

  • I'm upset about Marvin Sr. killing Marvin Jr., I'm a big fan of his music and he seemed like a very decent guy he just had a few demons that most people have. His dad really believed in the phrase ' I brought you in this world and I'll take you out', it's a damn shame. Also, I have Marvin Gaye's book and his dad was a crossdresser but I don't know if he was gay or not. Sounds like it though.

  • Glad Marvin Jr. hugged and kissed SR. at the end, because if it had been the other way around it would look funny.

  • Father and Son are having a talk about football. Typical, except the father seems like a mother.

  • Instead he had to deal with a father who had freakish ways, and projected his insecurities on the son. Looking at Sr., I could see why he told his children if they ever put their hands on him he'd take them out. That would be the last straw to break his dignity - based on what he probably went thru with being looked at as a "sissy."

  • Marvin Sr. had feminine tendencies and tried to stay in the church because he knew it was wrong. He was old school. He was feminized, so he was jealous and insecure about Jr. He also used to do stuff like jingle the belt buckle for hours, in another room, before whipping Marvin Jr. Freak stuff. Marvin Jr. just wanted a dad.

  • No matter what anybody says you don't make those feelings up about your child. No camera can make you do that! Only a real parent can attest to his uneasiness about watching him leave home in the car in hopes that he would be alright. Black men usually are not good with expressing their feelings 4 one another and that is a shame because our young men need this. They talk about the aspirations and fulfillment of dreams. Sadly, the final events of Marvin's life ended that way. Black men ur needed!

  • this dude is gay as hell.....

  • his dad was gay and hidden it !

  • Marvin and his dad in happier times. who woulda thougt Sr. would kill Jr?

  • @veeseee128 This is a front mostly, father and son never really had a good relationship the dad was ALWAYS jealous of Jr. and Jr. was always kinda pitting his mom against his dad not intentionally at first but towards the end it got kinda like ha ha mom loves me more than u type of thing cuz it was the only way to get back at his father for threating him the way he did.

  • @IamDottieDandridge how the hell do u know? did u live with them?

  • @veeseee128 just telling u no need to get offensive

  • @hcuob my little cousin is MENTALLY ILL and cannot move and has the mind of a 2 year old and is 18 so please do not use the word retarded it is offensive, and marvin gaye himself admits to being big on cocaine and alcohol which those two mixed together can make anybody a little crazy but over all he was and is a great musician his music still lives on him composing so many great songs in various ways in his house was pure intelligence

  • I don't know Marvin Gaye except through a few interviews and his music. I don't know why but I like this man, he seems to be humble, intelligent and a very caring human being. I wish I could have met this man and I wish that day of his death did not have to occur.

    ....

RIP Marvin, you are loved by millions, hundreds of millions and people like you make this a better world.

  • You can tell his dad is gay by the way he talks and that gay ass hair-do. He was probably very miserable that he had to be in the closet.

  • They had a complicated relationship. You can tell by saying I'm proud of you meant the world to Marvin.

  • God this is creepy

  • @wisesatyr72 You ain't kiddin'! Very creepy. Your own father taking you out! My God!

  • his father is so youthful looking. he looks like his brother

  • fucking crazy to see them together....... i really wonder how it went down.

  • thats his house IN DC!!!!!

  • I gots to say his pops is one cooky lookin motherfucker !

  • woooow as i'm watching this video it's like looking at lebron james (can yall see it to)seriously lol

  • I wish Marvin woulda shot his dad instead.

  • @KREEPNASTY1 you are nasty.. to say such an horrible thing..how stupid.. no one deserves to die like that. You should have said you wish that they could have both worked out their difference.. ignorant ass. man this world is SICK.. for saying that u are just a sick as his dad.

  • @kgeewow Who do you think I am ? The fuckin' Dhali Lama??

  • @KREEPNASTY1 woow halirious

  • Clearly you can see in this video that Marvin Gaye wanted to be truly loved by his father. Clearly his father had issues. No matter how much material things you give a child, it doesn't amount to being loved and accepted by their parents.

  • His daddy looks gay. What's up with the toopa

  • @DEBORAHCOX1953 His five brothers were gay, according to Frankie Gaye's book, and he himself wore wigs and women's clothing...

  • Also have a listen to the album "Here My Dear" & "In Our Lifetime". Sexual Healing and What's Going On, barely scratched the surface. Go now you, all of the tracks are on youtube. Forget about his Daddy, get in touch with the real Marvin.

  • Again, if you allow Marvin's father to cloud the message in his music, you don't get it.

  • I noted "body language", Marvin hugged "Dad", Dad put both arms down, not around Marvin. Troubles we will never know about. Not only drugs. Sad

  • Marvin didn't start doing drugs until Tammy Terrell died who died from a brain tumor, When she died he was so hurt by her death that he turn to drugs. Before he died he had dreams of being kill by a gun, so he brought the very gun he was killed with for protection of the home, without knowing the danger was living right with him. In last concert, he said he was going to start living for God. I hope he got a chance to get things straight with God before he died. Info From Books & Videos

  • SMH>>Y DID U HAVE TO KILL HIM>>THEN DO IT TWICE>>the drugs aint kill him..he still woulda lived longer...that dont give the right for him to kill his child..(sad)

  • THE FATHER MAY HAVE SHOT HIM,BUT MARVIN WAS ON DRUGS MOST OF THE TIME. DRUGS TOOK MARVIN'S LIFE, THERE WAS NO CLEAR THINKING FOR HIM ON DRUGS.MARVIN WAS A FRIEND OF MINE,BUT THE TRUTH IS HE WAS DEAD BEFORE THE FATHER SHOT HIM. TRULY A SAD STORY TO A GREAT MAN WE ALL LOVED. CHECK OUT MARVIN'S PHOTO IN ,FREDA'S HE GAIN THE WORLD BUT LOST HIS SOUL, HERE ON YOU TUBE,DRUGS IS NEVER AN ANSWER TO ANY THING IN LIFE,WE HAVE LOST SO MANY GREAT ARTIST TO SUCH SAD ENDINGS

  • ^ Yeah his father killed him but he came to his fathers house to shoot him ..

  • @KarhemaDeborha wasnt that becuz his father used to beat on his mother, I truly belive Marvin Gaye's childhood was where the sad story started and perhaps as an adult these hurt feelings still plagued him and drugs was a huge temptation, he still had a responsibility to choose differently but I don't feel he was raised in a loving home, I truly believe there was alot of drama

  • I can't hear this video and cannot read Japanese!

  • @SuperRetroXD Open your EARS LOSER....Or turn up your volume IDIOT!!!!

  • I see the comments and what happened in the end doesnt even matter, both of these men are gone from this earth and who knows their fate or circumstances of that day. The one thing that matters is this man at least told his son how proud he was of him and noone can deny the love that was shown at the end of this clip, how many of you living right now have told your children that? How many of you ever had the chance to share a moment with your father as Marvin did? I say RIP to both father & son.

  • ...someone is in / out / in the closet?!! But you did'nt here it from me......

  • His farher reminded me of little richard

  • @gittahfiend lollllll u krazzzzy!!

  • this bastard .. killed him i cant see this bitch.. i watched the video 1min... then i had enough

  • His dad is one f---ked up queen

  • How could you say good things about your son and then kill him. That is truly puzzling.

  • Fuck his dad man.

  • All he wanted was love and respect from his father, Marvin didn't get it.

  • Why did his dad kill Marvin Gaye?

  • @Sgtkillbot cause marvin told him to not come in his room, and gaye jr gave him a gun.

  • this interview had to be done in dc, i recognize the distinct style of the dc rowhouse.

  • btw marvin gayes dad is one of te most flaming flamers in the universe, he's wearing a fucking blouse!!!

  • Did Marvin Gaye Sr. Have like 9 siblings and 7/9 of the gayes were actually gay??? thats what i heard correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Read about Marvin's family. His dad used to dress in women's underwear he was a homosexual who was ashamed of his lifestyle and he probably killed Marvin Jr. because of his own twisted issues.

  • @smilingsnack Hey how about this? His father being an old man was afraid his junky son was going to beat him to death and shot him in self-defense? It happened. U r just on to the star system making an exception.

My uncle killed his son for the same reasons, self defense from a violent addict. Of course he was not famous.

Those were the times and the ways of heroin addicts. So what if he's a drag queen. I AM SURE he was as proud of his star son but junkies are another reality.

  • @kybelian I can definitely see your point. Marvin Gaye Jr. was an addict and a very disturbed individual towards the end of his life. Would I say his father was afraid, maybe a little. Like I said read about his family, their last name was Gay not Gaye they added the E to the end when gay became a homosexual term and Marvin Jr. was afraid of being teased. Read about the childhood, his father was a preacher who had some twisted views.

  • @kybelian I am black and in the black community, especially in my hometown, so many homosexuals are afraid to be open about their sexuality. Especially if they grew up in church so to speak. So many run to the pulpit to become ministers and the church has become a secret gay club. I believe that Marvin's addiction and issues with his father came from the fire and brimstone mentality his father had against secular artists and his issues with his sexuality. I'm not into the star system as you say.

  • wow

  • Marvin's father looks like Marvin's mother. What a shame he killed his own flesh and blood. Rot in jail u fool

  • @mashshro He died years ago, in a nursing home.

  • oh man, thats awful

  • marvin sr is a real piece of shit. how could you kill your own legendary so. goddamn shame

  • Marvin may have been overlooking the fact that his father had a psychological disorder. It is evident by examining the father's behavior in this video. For example, a person may misunderstand the speech by the dad because the language is not clear. This is one sign of a mental disorder. Then also shocking is noticing how similar he behaves like Little Richard. So, the father's mental illness and the possibility that Marvin overlooked, killed our singer.

  • Who dat faggot sitting next to Marvin? He look like Tine Turner in drag !!! If dat dude aint queer I dont know what is. He should git dat wig off his head it looks like an abandoned birds nest.Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, If he went to jail they would have him squealing like a fax machine.

  • what a tragedy. our society doesn't yet understand mental illness. at all. if we did this horrible horrible thing would never have happened. marvin gaye, dead because of a brain tumor, and it wasnt even his

  • what a tragedy. our society doesn't yet understand mental illness. at all. if we did this horrible horrible thing would never have happened.

  • He was jealous of his son. Why mention about him bumping his knee on the car door, and his period of hardships?

  • what is that mess on his head... We as children are to loyal too parents who love us

  • @rdsamuels Marvin's dad was a cross dresser. He used to wear his wife underwear, night gowns, wigs etc. Kids teased Marvin Jr. growing up.

  • Love Marvin!!! play his music still on the reg to clear my mind!!! I want u is so fuckin classic!!! That cd will never die!!!

  • Fuck him.

  • Well my dad knew the gaye family very well and u would have to know this history of the entire family and marvin's history with drugs left his broke...to be completely honest he was living with his parents when all of this happened for that reason.

  • he was very ill.

  • I feel mixed feelings watching this. Like some others I can sense some of the jealousy from Marvin Sr but at the same time he still seems like he's trying to be loving in his own way. Some people are very complicated and sadly we can't pick and chose who our parents or children are. We just have to deal with them as they come. I think Marvins dad had major issues but in watching this video I don't see him as evil just complicated sadly I think Marv Jr spent his life trying to make him happy

  • Marvin wasn't perfect...none of us are, but he was a good man and he deserved a better father... RIP love <3

  • Looks and sounds like a skinnier version of Madea... Maybe Tyler Perry could loose some weight and play him in the movie..

  • omg I've only read about Marvin Sr. I never seen with my own eyes just how...feminine he was. Poor Marvin Jr:(

  • Marvin's father seems very gay, and I can't believe that's his natural father; he must look like his mother; think like his mother; love like his mother.

  • @LovelyBunn Marvin and his mother were VERY close. His father was pretty abusive and a very mean man. There is controversy to whether he was gay or not, BUT he was definitely a crossdresser. He sometimes wore women's clothing around the home, according to Marvin.

  • @RhapsodicBlues

Marvin, himself, wore women's clothes on occasion, too, according to Marvin.

A complex and troubled man but we rarely see someone with this amount of talent.

  • @thegirl44 I wonder if Marvin Sr. ever molested Marvin Jr.? Most molested children stay troubled all their lives and have sexual problems, and love the parent that molested them, always looking for their approval in spite of being molested. Marvin has the classic symptoms of an molestation victim.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever

I don't know about any molestation but it's well documented that Sr. beat the living hell out of Jr. on a regular basis.

I think that any kind of unhealthy sexuality in the home can lead to sexual confusion in a child, abuse aside. Sr. was likely a gay man trying to live life as a heterosexual in a sham marriage. That's more likely to confuse a child than a father leaving the family unit to live life openly gay.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever I agree. I think the father molested him. Everyone think that Marvin and Tammi Terrell were close and just good friends, I think they shared a similiar life. Tammi was raped at 11 and I feel Marvin was molested by his dad. I think that's what they had in common (other than the music). Marvin Gayes niece confirmed there was some molestation going on by Marvins dad.

  • @LovelyBunn

Gay Sr. didn't think that Gaye Jr. was his son, either.

  • Im sorry but you may need to read the entire story of his death, marvin was on heavy drugs and he went to his fathers him to rob him of money for drugs. Do your research

  • @shuntayp2002 WHERE did you get THAT story from? First of all, Marvin was in his room with his mother and his father was yelling/arguing with her. Marvin took up for his mother. Marvin's father didn't take that well and then Marvin attacked him. According to Marvin's mother, Marvin's father had said many times that if Marvin ever touched him that he would kill him.

You are correct that Marvin was heavy into drugs. Marvin didn't need to rob anyone for drugs. He always had access to drugs.

  • @shuntayp2002

Like the other commentor stated Marvin didn't need to rob his dad for money. He could have called 100s of people to get money without repayment. Celebs at Marvins level generally don't need to steal or rob they can find plenty of drug dealer fans to get it for free. Marvin got in the middle of a fight between his mom and dad and physically (so they say) fought his dad who then shot him. I've never heard anything about Marvin robbing his dad.

  • @MyTeelee

The argument between Marvin's parents started over an insurance letter or note that Gay Sr. couldn't find.

People, over time, have spun this so that Gaye Jr, stole the policy and cashed it for drugs. It's a bogus sidenote perpetuated by people who are ignorant to the true story. I even heard a radio DJ preach that Marvin stole that insurance policy as though it were the gospel not too long ago.

It belongs in th trash along with the mythos that Buddy Holly shot the pilot.

  • this is the saddest thing i have ever seen. what a shame.

    cryingeyes100 said it perfectly.

  • its good to see those two kickin it. his pops at least told him how he felt about him, and it sounded like he was proud. they looked like they were n the hood on the east side of the d, and marvin was gone off of three blunts.... pops was wearin the shit outta that wig.....

  • Marvin Gaye's father was a drag queen & very conflicted all his life.

Marvin had such a genius for music, but here he's talking about how he "could have been a contender" in football. He could never get his father's approval.

After "Heard It Through the Grapevine" became a huge hit, he brought a briefcase with a million dollars to show his father. His father was not impressed.

The fact that his father killed him is mindblowing.

  • @esquibelle but his father did not kill him on purpouse it was actually alot of things going on in both of their lives marvin jr was depressed and sad that his father never approved and was depressed with his past wife he had that he had to really release a album for to give her money...depression took a tole and so did drugs and those both went wrong and his father did it in self defense thinking that marvin jr went crazy

  • @blopeezy That's not self defense...if I'm hitting you and you right then and there in the moment, without leaving "defend yourself and kill me in the process then yes THAT'S self defense...now you leave, which gives you time to think about what had "already happened" to get a weapon, come back with more time to rethink what you're doing and about to do, to kill me, that's premeditated murder. You had time to think rather than instinctively react

  • @DoctorOpto so you were there watching the whole thing? crazy you must have been great friends with marvin sr and jr....we do not know the actual story or truth behind it but i did watch the documentary where it speaks on the whole situation maybe i did not pay attention as well as i should have but i was only 14 when i watched it and never got the chance to see it again i am 21 now so i forgot alot but know he was a great musician who did alot of his composing himself

  • @esquibelle he did have a brain tumor

  • @sTRstRUK It's true his father had a brain tumor which may have affected his decision making. The other reality is that Marvin struggled with cocaine addiction so he wasn't thinking clearly as well. The story goes that they argued about everything since Marvin was living in his parents house in LA when his father killed him. In any case, it was a real tragedy. Marvin was such a great singer & composer. Nobody has come along since that can even touch his abilities.

  • @esquibelle i tottally agree

  • @esquibelle I was told it was the house Marvin bought!

  • @esquibelle that's allright. Let us not allow tragedy to define his great works. (same could be said for all of em')

  • @TearzGypsy hear hear i agree well said!!

  • @TearzGypsy sadly for me knowing more of this story makes it quite hard to listen to more of his music, quite heavy for my 19 year old heart

  • Good grief ... I read about his father but never actually SAW what he looked like. Poor Marvin, Jr. RIP

  • Marvin Jr. is the same age when Sr. shot him. May Sr. rot in hell forever. Nothing but a bitter, jealous, troublemaker.

  • It seems like his father is congratulating him and loving Junior. I don't see him berating him. I can see the other things as far as maybe being a bit feminine but not the others. It's interesting that a lot of info is coming up in these comments that doesn't show up in the documentaries about his death. Where is this coming from, Wikipedia? Tieuel Legacy! Motion Pics

  • is this his dad?he seems me very young for dad or maybe the quality is not well.

  • wtf ,,,,did gaye snr have marvin when he was like 10??? 11???? he looks like his older brother rather than his father... anyway he was a cunt.

  • look at the difference in their body language. MG Junior is relaxed, shoulders laid back and he's speaking in a calm manner. MG Senior is hunched back, fidgety insulting

I don't htink its right to say one man was better than the other but Marvin gayes dad was a really troubled man

  • Marvin Sr. has on a wig doesn't he? hmmm

  • DA GREATEST SOUL MUSICIAN OF ALL TIME.....LEGEND IN HIZ OWN RITE...R.I.P. MARVIN GAYE

  • That has to be a wig.

  • Damn, Marvin was fine as hell. I mean I cant believe that's his dad look like that and not like him. I mean I see some feature, but u got to loook real real hard.

  • Sad. Revealing. Deeply complex, painful to watch. The father expressed love and that he was proud of his son, Marvin. You would expect that is what Marvin needed and wanted to hear by the way he embraced and kissed his father. Too much "way back stuff" that was never properly addressed seemed to prove that it wasn't enough. Coupled with Marvin's high degree of sensitivity, he didn't find enough strength to prevent the downward spiral. Hopefully R. Kelly will.

  • Marvin is so sweet and patience with his dad; even though you could tell from his body language and expressions that his father irrated the heck out of him. I also read the his father was hard to live with while he was growing up.

  • Man I thought marvin was sitting next to little richard! LMAO!

  • @19832006 He looks a mess with that perm...lmao

  • How could such a wonderful person be born to such a pitiful father. Now I don't believe in wishing harm upon anyone but I absolutely hate Marvin Gaye Sr. for his actions, whatever the reasons may be.

  • If I were Marvin's mother, I would have given that person my a*@ to kiss so hard that his lips would have crumbled.

  • To me the mother had a little bit of a role in Marvin's demise herself. because she should have been lefted that person alone. Marvin had plenty enough money to take care of her. I wonder if any of his other siblings did anything to prevent the domestic abuse going on in that household. She seemed to be content to stay with the man. Could she have possibly still loved that man with all his gayness? To me that's an insult and an embarrassment to my womanhood.

  • I can't figure out why Marvin's mother stayed with sista boy. If she had of left him, maybe Marvin would still be alive. Because the reason why his father shot him, was for Marvine defending his mother from his father hitting on her with his gay a@* self. Marvin hit his father for hitting his mother and the father shot Marvin while he was lying in bed. But Marvin should've expected something, cause the father told him if he ever hit him he would kill Marvin.

  • @rocknroll773 Some church/religious people don't believe in divorce. Therefore they stay with their husbands even if he did horrible things.

  • That was the best thing that Marvin did was get in that car and leave home.

  • How could you Mr Gay? How could you.........?

  • @spreadthelove77 Because he was super gay.

  • WHO coiuldn't tell this man was not acting all MALE??! That in itself must have pla\yed on jrs mind.

  • Yeah Janis was your girl alright. After you left your beautiful wife for her arse, she up and left you for Teddy Pendergrass! Darn, Marvin. You should have stayed with your wife. You probably would have been alive today; had you stayed with your wife...that young girl ruined you and your family.

  • @kgbronx12 Totally Concur.

  • @kgbronx12 No he should'nt have stayed with Anna Gordy. Eventhough she was never completely out of his life even while he was with Janis.

  • @kgbronx12

What?!!!!! I never knew Janis started messing with Teddy Pendergrass. That's interesting news for me.

  • @Codycole80 and Rick James

  • Marvin Gaye is just toooooooo fine, sexy and talented to be gone from us. MY GOODNESS! Such inner, bitter hatred from a parent such as he endured from his dad, is so unfathomable. SAD!

  • Comment removed

  • This is so sad. Sr. looks like some kind of addict. So much love and blessing inside Marvin. He knew his fathers demons wells and from his hug at the end, he loved his dad and felt like he had to crutch & had his dad. A father's envy. A son's guilt. Marvin might have embaced his dad as he passed away. Dad didn't deserve Marv. ...But he might've made Marv. Marv probably let his own demon's out through music as Michael did, Rest in Peace.

  • A gay preacher and one that was totally jealous of his son. He seems to be trying to keep Marvin down mentally. He was a fake preacher (father or so called father) and has to answer for that. Probably was jealous of his son from day one! it shows

  • And then he kills him...

Daddy Gaye had a serious internal issue and insecurity regarding his son...only he knew. And I'm quite sure that Marvin had a deep-down sense of this all of his shortened life that he struggled with. Such a turmoil, and such a very tragic loss.

  • WILL LOVE YOU MARVIN, ALWAYS.

  • Marvin Jr. is my n**ga! I cry listening to all his songs!

  • marvin looks more mainly than his dad.

  • I DON'T LIKE THAT MAN!

  • Honestly, first when I saw theses two I had no idea the guy who was talking was Marvin's father !!! By the way he dressed himself (teen shirt, wig...Maners ...) I could say he was so imature and soooooooooooooooooo jeaulous of his son !!! (And maybe this was the real reason why he killed Marvin!). Some parents (be in shock!) are so jeaulous of their kids !!

  • @vouquevou he was i can see it, he is talking over him and even at his grown age he is trying to control him BASTARD! KILL UR OWN CHILD

  • @TheDefjams And you know what makes all this much more sad? It's that Marvin was such a great soul! You can see that even without know him. He had one of those rare blessings over him! 'Till today he can touch hearts only by talking in interviews!
