Turning all those pulleys I bet you lose about 8+ h.p. a piece(that figure arrived from under-drive pulley install on alternator hp gain), and it probably sucks the gas. If it needs that kinda juice it has to need crazy amounts of current. I'd like to see that system, ask one of your customers to post a finished video, or maybe even let you. What kinda fire risks I wonder?

@215alessio It's possible, but you still wouldn't be able to run anything off of the power generated by that alternator. The voltage is right, but the frequency would still be wrong. American appliances run on a frequency of 60 Hz, but since the frequency of the power is dictated by the RPM of the alternator, it would fluctuate whenever the engine revs or slows.

you need 6 diodes to transvert the ac current into dc the 6 bult in aren't adeguate to withstand the higher voltage then you need a DC to ac converter of 60 HZ

@whackitov Not really. Nearly all alternators contain electronics that only magnetize the rotor when voltage drops, effectively decoupling the alternator when not needed. The whole setup won't leech more than 1HP on idle.

BATTERY POWER MAKES MORE SENSE! Do the math.

(4) 600 amp batts.(deep cycle) in parallel will be 12 volts x 2400 Ah = 28,800 watts. This is already more than you've got. Snicker Snicker. Cheaper and less noisy too! Now double that. 12v x 4800 Ah = 57,600 watts! And you still get good gas mileage! Your regular alternator will charge the batteries back up after you have showed off a little.

I did the math and it still conmes out the same. You must be a stereo guy or just dont know how the systems are running. 12 volts is just a little low for the 6000 to 8000 volts needed to run the amp. Snicker, snicker

Well lets see, all alternators are ac voltage 3 phase rectified to dc. Remove the rectifiers and now you have a ac alternator. High amps at low voltage, we use high voltage at low amps. Hmm how can I get that, I know a transformer and then change it back to dc using high voltage diodes. Now we have whats needed to run those tubes. Like the ones on your you tube video just bigger. Oh by the way your battery set up would only be good for a minute then your voltage would start to fall.
