  • I'm pretty sure that he figured out that holding the magazine is not as effective.

  • That gun is sick. how'd you like it?

  • this rifle needs to be put back in service.... it has everything the military wants.... Range, power, accuracy, mobility take it back and use the socom version of it!

  • @marinesusarule Its too heavy with the weapon and all the ammo. Its also a terrible cqb weapon. What they need to do is re-chamber all 5.56 to 6.5 mm Grendel. Problem solved.

  • @marinesusarule Or the 6.8 mm Remington SPC...either one would be better than 5.56

  • @marinesusarule An AR-10 (7.62x51mm AR) runs circles around an M-14. Stop living in the past, this rifle was dropped like a bad habit for good reason.

  • @ijl1i What do you mean dropped, they are still being used in active duty...haven't you heard of the EBR Mod 0-2?

  • the design of the stock of the M14 makes the recoil to high for accurate full auto bursts xs

  • @1996tijs I would say the 308 would be the biggest problem...

  • u cant fire a rifle acuratly holding it that way.bet u he hit sweet f all

  • @alanO134 how are you supposed to hold it? if it works for the shooter that's what matters? do you use a gangster grip? do you even have a gun? airsoft doesnt count.

  • @Thesoulpills u cant execute the marksmanship principals by holding a rifle by its magazine

  • M14: The upgrade to the greatest battle implement ever devised. No wonder everyone loves it! :)

  • would the recoil be less if there's a pistol grip?

  • @sam9116 Yesno. The recoil would obviously not be less, you may only feel less.

  • @mattinthehouse11 I'll pray to that T

  • @FatmanH Lol. I mistyped. I meant to say that I would take this over the m-16 anyday.

  • @RYSE12345 amen

  • I would take this over the m-16 or m-14 anyday.

  • @RYSE12345 it is an M14...

  • i dun want no teenage queen, i only want my m14

  • It's pretty quiet suppressor?

  • @SwordsmanMercenary There is no suppressor on that rifle...its just the regular flash hider.

  • Where is the selector on an m14

  • @daverocker1 Below and a little behind the rear sight, where the back of the receiver and stock join.

  • isnt this gun still used today or sumthing used by the SEALS maybe idk its wut i hear

  • y did the m16 replace this?

  • @GenerationKill1010

Gee idk, maybe because it could go full auto?

  • @Cowbelltheoneandonly the m14 can go full auto too dipshit do some research before you try to make a smart ass remark

  • @GenerationKill1010

The M14 in full auto is too hard to control therefore they kept it for semi auto. It was primarily an infantry weapon until replaced by M16 in 1966. The gun is a rifle, not an Assault Rifle. Keeping it under control (7.62x51mm) would be too much to ask for. See, I can make counter-smart ass remarks, too!

Let me sum this up for you, the round is too big for it to be effectively used in full auto.

  • @Cowbelltheoneandonly no shit it was to hard to control but how many troops use their m16s on full auto and the m14 is a battle rifle

  • @Cowbelltheoneandonly thats not true I've just got done watching a bunch of videos of people shooting an M14 in full auto in control. What are you talking about?

  • @Dracanon

Many videos I'm seeing on youtube is of the LMG heavy barreled M14..although the M14 in full auto has less kick than the G3 type rifles/FAL type rifles in full auto, I can see no need to go full auto in the .308 caliber

  • I didn't think the M14 was still in production! what do you mean "new"?

  • Oorah!

  • @navycop1005 im with you, people talk and dont know nothing i hate that

  • That's not the proper way to hold it, but if it works for you and it shoots tight groups.. keep on holding it like that. Holding the magazine won't induce a malfunction.

  • @GunFreak270 good job reading the description.

  • I read something recently about not holding m14s by the magazine. if some thing goes wrong and that .30 round explodes, the magazine will take your hand with it.

  • Looks like there is a flash suppressor attached rather than compensator.. doesn't seem to help though.

  • That's wierd.... the last person I saw hold a gun by the magazine was a second grader with a toy gun for Halloween.

  • What distance do you have to qualify at in basic training. Do you have to use the m16 or the m4 carbine. My brother has an m4 and it feels like a toy.

  • im the canadian forces we use c7's which i guess are your basic m16 with uprades. we qualify at 100m, and 400m

  • USMC its standing @ 100m, Kneeling/Sitting @200 -300m and prone @500...

M16 is the standard rifle for all US armed forces.

  • @XxfuckthapolicexX

I don't know what Marine Corps you were in, but its 200, 300 and 500 meters!

  • Youtube comments make me lose faith in humanity.

  • im 14 and i was on shooting range once

    not much problem with m1911

but m14 almost knocked me to the ground!

  • I cant hold a gun by the mag it feels too weird but I guess whatever works

    m14s are badass though

  • its bad practice to hold a gun by the magazine anyway. Can cause misfeeds

  • @EHSPP16 Looks like he is having trouble too since his arm tendons are sticking the hell out and he changes the way he holds it half way through... he should stick to normal grip. And M14 are SIIYYYAAAK

  • Nice!

  • you need a vertical grip

  • why would u put a vertical grip on an M14???

  • um, i dunno... so you don't hold the magazine and get a misfeed maybe?

  • Comment removed

  • and also you could just hold the handguard.

  • but the forward handguard doesn't seem to be that effective in countering recoil..

  • read the side information he explains why hes holding it like that

  • U fag thats not a vertical grip thats the magazine u retard!!!!!

  • when did we ever say that magazine was a foregrip????

  • @Hotives He knows the regular grip was too hot read the caption fool!!!!!

  • because you're a red neck

  • what the fuck matee im english. u twat

  • I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER EVER hold my M14 by the magazine... Great way to get misfeeds. Some people... *rolls eyes*

  • read the description

  • did you read the fucking info you ignorant asshole. Some people...*rolls eyes*

  • shut up you bubblegum chewin' pansy

  • nice gun.

  • Yeah there is no better place to hold rifle than the magazine ! way to go stud.

  • dame use that to take down them mother fucking hajis

  • you're stupid and racist but the government is gonna show your how much they love you.

  • Yeah man that weapon is beautiful... Definitely be careful holding it from the magazine tho, I had a round blow out a lug on my M1A bolt and it blew the shit out of my magazine... It could have been ugly... nice vid

  • using commercial ammo? handloads? i'm curious....don't want to do the same with mine.

  • i love the m1a beast gun

  • LOL!

  • you're holding it funny.....

  • Read the description

  • ya, but wouldn't the magazine be hotter than the stock itself? unless you had multiple magazines........ nvm, my bad

  • No because the mag should be fine the bullets arent being fired until they leave the mag and enter the chamber

  • the magazine isn't ever hot, the bullets aren't ignited there, they stay at normal temperature.

  • no i think he ment it was shot all day so the gun was hot due to the constant firing

  • read description

  • its called a mag

  • i love the m14, my dad has a sawn off semi auto gun and a full walnut stock full auto version, but its not the a1

  • LOL!

  • m14 = modern-day m1a1 carbine

  • you = idiot

  • me = LMAO

  • No, the M1 carbine uses a light .30 caliber round. the M14 uses a full power 7.62 (.30 caliber) rifle round. It is what replaced the M1 Garand, which used an even more powerful .30-06 cartridge. If the M14 is a "modern-day" WWII weapon, it is the M1 Garand

  • m14= modern day m1 garand. the m14 is the evolution of the garand.

  • that's pretty much what i meant.

  • only, it loads like a m1a1 carbine, and looks pretty like one (Apart from the size difference)

  • it actually looks very little like a carbine. it looks almost exactly like the garand minus the mag and the short gas tube.

  • yeah, i lately got a proper look at a carbine. It's freakin' tiny :P

but without the mag it DOES look like a garand.

  • it is almost the same rifle. just re chambered and with a mag.

  • it also shoots auto

  • yeah i know that.

  • @disturbedone5009 actualy the evolution of the M1 carbine sir

  • @Eekkbob

No. The original M14 test rifles were built on M1 length receivers. The receivers were then shortened with the adoption of the 7.62x51 NATO cartridge for more reliable feeding.

  • @disturbedone5009 You're right , sorry

  • @disturbedone5009 the evolution of most wwii weapons. beautiful isn't it?

  • @disturbedone5009 i think they use the same iron sight i could be mistaken im just going off my airsoft M14 though

  • @disturbedone5009 : Evolution of the Garand and BAR to be precise.

  • @oOCrossroadsOo

Not really. The original rifles that lead to the M14 were built on M1 Garand receivers which were modified to take BAR mags and to fire fully automatic. The M14 was designed to replace the M1, Thompson, and BAR.

  • @disturbedone5009 : Yes that's why I'm saying it's also an evolution of the BAR. The M14 has the body, receiver and sights of a Garand and the barrel (its shape at least), magazine and overall length of a BAR. It's basically a combination of the M1 and BAR to correct the flaws of each in the process... but that's only my opinion and you can have yours :)

  • Oh, I see, you're not wearing gloves and I can't tell how hot it is outside by looking at a video. On a really hot day the Barrel and forend don't cool quick enough and gloves are uncomfortable. This is when a vertical foregrip comes in handy but if the gun doesn't have one the magazine is the next best thing.

  • this is still my favorite weapon

  • If you shoulder it properly you have more control over it when your supporting hand is further down the forened. The idea is to push it into your shoulder, not pull it down or away from your shoulder. Besides when you support and shoulder the rifle or carbine properly your transition from standing to kneeling or prone will not be interrupted or delayed. But of course if you're not trying to acquire the rapid fire expetise of a gunner or the precision a rifleman it doesn't matter.

  • hey twig fuck ,read the description!

  • retards read th description of vid.!

  • people read the discription!

  • if i was the owner of that rifle i would be less worried about him holding the mag like and that and more worried about barrel damage. if it is that hot there may be some damage. but hey its only a $1300 rifle so no worries.

  • ur an asshat

  • why? all im saying is that if the rifle is so hot that you cant even grip the wood then isnt there a risk for damaging the barrel?

  • its not wood

  • really. well i cant tell. and you obviously know what i meant so i guess you just enjoy being a douche bag.

  • i think ur just one of those guys who likes spreading around false information on things just so he can get his 2 cents in and feel like a man .tool.

  • im not spreading false information. if the barrel is that hot it can warp reducing accuracy. thats basic knowledge.

  • most people probaly wouldnt think of that as basic knowledge ,basic knowledge is more like a fish cant breath air but yea i agree now

  • The hell it ain't riverdave7. I used an M14 after they reissued in Iraq because of the punishment the M4's were going through.

It's wood, and it gets damn hot.

  • oh ic it must be treated not to burn tho

  • lol @ dave

  • There is nothing wrong with shooting the gun while holding the magazine! The M14 isn't going to malfunction if you do this.

Ignore the armchair soldiers who say otherwise.

  • It wasn't meant to be held by the magazine...moving the mag out of the way while the weapon is trying to cycle could mess something up. But, given the circumstances listed in the magic description, I suppose it's alright. I'd wear gloves to avoid screwing up someone else's weapon who has been kind enough to let me use it, but whatever.

  • He's holding it wrong. Yeah, you can hold it like that but as you can see, it's not very stable. I've fired a shitload of rounds through an M14 and never has it been too hot to hold by the stock.

Not trying to flame anybody here but as a USMC PMI, seeing this kind of stuff on the range drives me nuts.

    Me At The Range.

You are not suppose to hold it from the magazine but this was an M16 range day and the armorer brought one of the new M14, so the rifle was too hot to hold from the stock because it was shot all day. One other thing most of the weight is on my shoulder and right hand, the hand on the magazine is just actually holding it steady.

    ^^Copy and paste works wonders.

  • @JohnAshcroft actually it has been known to make guns jam or magazines misfeed especially in the m16, m4, and ar15 similar platforms. apart from that its really bad form and looks gay.

  • @killratoss The M16, M4, and AR15 are all the exact same platform, and have absolutely no relation to the M14. The M14 magazine locks in a totally different way than M16 type rifles and is unlikely to cause the jam that you refer to. You don't sound like you know what you are talking about. Go back to COD.

  • @JohnAshcroft well if u knew how to read you would see that i wrote its makes the m16 platform jam and misfeed most commonly. i said similar platforms to the m16 because there are a million variations of that body. even though the m14 is similar to the ak or sig the way the magazine locks in, it can still have problems when u hold the magazine. i have shot far more guns than you by the way and will also kick ur fuckin ass a COD. go back to COD? i think i will right now actually thanks.

  • @killratoss In a video showing the M14, you whine about how holding the magazine causes jams in an M16 (???). Kids, I think we have quite the keyboard commando here! Your comments paint a sad picture of you; they don't make them like they used to in Canada, do they?

  • No, he isnt holding it correctly, but more importantly, the magazines have a habit of sometimes falling out. HOWEVER, I TOTALLY agree with jimjim49 - the Damn weapon does NOT get too hot to HOLD! BS. The top cover of the barrel is slotted for air to travel through and cool it down. AND - The WOOD Stock does NOT get hot. You that dont know a damn thing about this rifle F'ng STOW IT. If you DONT know what youre talking about shut the hell up you're showing your asses.

  • you along with jimjim are a bunch of f**ken retards it's not a wood stock. It's a composite stock you stupid fu*k and it gets extremely hot. Now if you don't know what your talking about, as you obviously don't shut the fuck up.

  • Pansy :)

  • Yeah (TheSwabbie) he really doesn't know what he is talking about. Probably idiots who sit there and play Call of Duty all day. Weapons get pretty hot quickly even if you only fire off a couple of rounds, if the weapon has been fired all day it is very understandable that it would be too hot to hold from the stock. Doesnt matter what kind of stock it is either. Saying a WOOD stock doesnt get hot is like saying WOOD can't catch on fire. BS. Stop playing video games.

  • I think the only thing people haven't mentioned is that if it's really hot you should probably let it cool for a while so you don't risk warping the barrel or do excess wear on the rifling with high-temperature loads. It should be fine, but you just got to be careful with keeping a weapon firing when it gets really hot. Nice rifle though!

  • You are holding it "wrong" or like someone who has never been trained to fire that rifle or another other military issue rifle for that matter. Before you flame me, I do know what I am talking about.

  • @navycop2005 Lighten up bub, I train-fired the 14 back in 1964 at Fort Dix, NJ, and the stock was wood. Heavy? Yup, Loud? Yup. We weren't even allowed to use any form of ear protection back then. My ears STILL ring.

I'm thinking you were maybe still directly attached to your momma about then.

And no, if you tried to hold this weapon by the magazine a DI would kick your ass.

No lefties either; bolt in the eye, etc. There was life before you, y'know?

  • why you holding it from the mag?....oh i see you mentioned you dont know how to hold it.

  • your stupid, why do you have to say dumb s*** like that

  • well it's true....

  • Have you seen the video here on youtube of an AK-47 starting on fire from getting too hot (on purpose of course)? Respect for being a marine, but chill out broski.

    Can we be friends?

  • why does everyone feel the need to pick everyone else apart? just enjoy shooting. and no one cares if you think you have a better way.

  • what's up with holding a rifle by its magazine?

  • i think maybe you would know and you wouldnt sound like an idiot if you had read the caption

  • No you're an idiot, read the description.

  • I'm looking at for a civilian version of the m14 legal in California for a starting rifle and was wondering if that was a good idea. P.s how much kick does it have?

  • very good rifle. kick is not too bad.

  • an m14 as a starting rifle wouldnt be too bad an idea, i'd snap it up quick though, i hear the governator is trying to pass shit banning the m14. my dad owns a sawn off semi auto version and a full walnut stock full auto version, but we keep them in utah. and yes, the walnut does get f-ing hot after a few mags through it

  • The M14S is a nice rifle, it's my favorite rifle to haul down to the range. Recoil is far less punishing then the 30-06 (I can put 80 rounds down range in a single sitting with the M14 before my shoulder starts to get sore, the rem 700 30-06 I can do at more 20 before I need a break).

  • lmao.that was good for a laugh

  • can the m14 take soviet rounds?

  • No. It fires 7.62 NATO, and only 7.62 NATO.

  • Why is everyone on youtube so full of shit? I am really getting sick of seeing these arguments between 14 year old airsoft nerds about who is he better "combat" sniper. Go outside, play a sport, and then maybe learn how to shoot with a single shot .22.

Grow up or shutup, because your bullshit is pathetic and depressing.

  • i play airsoft but fck you guys with your youtube arguments y dont you join the military and see how hard it is you pathetic cunts

  • I know man.

  • shit, both of you are right. airsoft players think they're all sierra hotel because mommy bought them a plastic M4 and some multicam and they get to play with they're other little buddies in the suburban-hell cul-de-sac patch of woods and they think they have the right to critique an actual serviceman on how they shoot. put down your plastic toy, lose your virginity, and join the fucking miliary.

  • I guess you are right, an airsoft player shouldn't criticize real soldiers. The two thing is complety different. I play airsoft and I really respect soldiers. Some of my elder relatives served in the WWII.

    Are you a soldier?

  • Hooah.

  • M14 RIFLE GREAT ONE OF THE BEST

  • You might want to try getting a pair of shooting gloves if the stock is too hot;

I got a nice pair from China on Ebay for $5.

  • Bahawha!

  • Why the hell do you all keep making these ridicilous arguments on how to hold a gun?

Read the description. He didn't have any shooting gloves available, he was holding it from the magazine because the stock was extremely hot from firing it all day.

    End story.

  • hahaha how would you die by pulling a mag out? it would probably Jam from a misfeed but die? ahhh stupid people

  • you've got to be fucking joking you can't die by plling out a mag u stupid fuck
