Bought the VHS ages ago (like 15 years or so) and recently rewatched it Still makes me cry. Was made in 91. Anthony Minghella certainly had a knack with love stories. Love the 'cello, love the singing and dancing and the poem.

*Spoilers* Yes the character of Jamie is dead in the film and the point of him was to annoy her, restore her and get her to live again. 'It is the care of the living for the dead and of the dead for the living.'
