well this dance is called the sema dance of the Melavi order.*some* sufis dance in order to spirtually remember God for eg sema dance is a form of dikhir [remembrance of God] made by maulana Rumi.
*sufism* is basically tawasuf the spirtual side of Islam which requires u to remeber God & praising the prophet [pbuh] through various means like singing, poetry, *private worship*, good deeds etc
@honeypie102 becuase the dancing sufis do is in ecstacy, they after a point of remmebering allah lose them self, and are outside of there own control, and at that point they are in 'ecstacy' and it appears to people as if there dancing. sufism is losing yourself in allah completely.

No doubt Indians singers are good, but the vocal quality present in Pakistani singers is exceptional and secondly A.R.Rehman also learnt music from Nusrat Fateh Ali.. he came to Lahore and lived in a below averaged hostel in Kothapind just for learning some music for Nusrat Fateh Ali.. and so far Sufism is concerend A.R,Rehman is a muslim and he knows the depth of this music so hez too good in it, then Muhammad Rafi i think all singers no matter Indians or Pakistani who love music

Music doesn't have boundaries neither do Sufis. Depth of music comes from the heart whether it be Pakistani, Indian, Turk, American, or whatever.

Hindustani music has grown over hundreds of years and has influences from all over the world, Late USTAD Nusrat Fateh Ali Khanji was not only knowledgeable in Qawwali and Sufi music, but he trained in Indian Classical music too...his knowledge of RAGA was so extensive that it reflected in his own music setting him apart from everyone else in his genre...through music we should unite just like Rehman and Ustadji
@soviaarshad absolutely we have similar music heritage, we're from the same subcontinent. The history of what we now call Indian music dates back to the Natya Shastra which is a book of all the how to's of anything and everything to do with performance art; music is a part of that. The music has developed with input from other visiting cultures as has the music of other cultures. We must not forget that partition happened in 1947 but before that we were living on the same soil. :o)

Rafi, Sonu nigam ... but what I said was the unique tonal quality, Noor jahan's voice, Nusrat Fateh Ali, Rahat Fateh Ali .. ev en Atif although he is not a trained singer neither he has that much knowledge of music as compare to above mentioned singers but he is famous just because of his unique voice!!!

well this dance is called the sema dance of the Melavi order.*some* sufis dance in order to spirtually remember God for eg sema dance is a form of dikhir [remembrance of God] made by maulana Rumi.
*sufism* is basically tawasuf the spirtual side of Islam which requires u to remeber God & praising the prophet [pbuh] through various means like singing, poetry, *private worship*, good deeds etc

@honeypie102 becuase the dancing sufis do is in ecstacy, they after a point of remmebering allah lose them self, and are outside of there own control, and at that point they are in 'ecstacy' and it appears to people as if there dancing. sufism is losing yourself in allah completely.

You said woman is not fully covered ... since in the video only face was visible I said Covering face is not in Islam since its optional ( I still don;t recall any ayat where covering face is mentioned). The ayat I am refering to is in Surah Ahzaab.
Islam is a religion of life, where something is wrong it is clearly FORBIDDEN. Even NOT LIKED is a very low category. AND I don;t even see NOT LIKING Music in ISLAM as well.

No doubt Indians singers are good, but the vocal quality present in Pakistani singers is exceptional and secondly A.R.Rehman also learnt music from Nusrat Fateh Ali.. he came to Lahore and lived in a below averaged hostel in Kothapind just for learning some music for Nusrat Fateh Ali.. and so far Sufism is concerend A.R,Rehman is a muslim and he knows the depth of this music so hez too good in it, then Muhammad Rafi i think all singers no matter Indians or Pakistani who love music

Music doesn't have boundaries neither do Sufis. Depth of music comes from the heart whether it be Pakistani, Indian, Turk, American, or whatever.

Hindustani music has grown over hundreds of years and has influences from all over the world, Late USTAD Nusrat Fateh Ali Khanji was not only knowledgeable in Qawwali and Sufi music, but he trained in Indian Classical music too...his knowledge of RAGA was so extensive that it reflected in his own music setting him apart from everyone else in his genre...through music we should unite just like Rehman and Ustadji

The history of what we now call Indian music dates back to the Natya Shastra which is a book of all the how to's of anything and everything to do with performance art; music is a part of that. The music has developed with input from other visiting cultures as has the music of other cultures. We must not forget that partition happened in 1947 but before that we were living on the same soil. :o)

Rafi, Sonu nigam ... but what I said was the unique tonal quality, Noor jahan's voice, Nusrat Fateh Ali, Rahat Fateh Ali .. ev en Atif although he is not a trained singer neither he has that much knowledge of music as compare to above mentioned singers but he is famous just because of his unique voice!!!

She was the ONLY singer in Pak at the time when PAK film industry was larger than Bollywood (40s-50s). No wonder you guys had to make her the queen of melody or whatever...
