beautiful javelin for 30 years the co dition isnt half that bad, what kind of people abandon these or let them sit outside, these are just as good as any old camaro or mustang
wait till it goes back on Ebay restored for 40,000 +......I really think you should have kept it!.....$3000 is cheap for this 70 Javelin SST ,I think it WAS the real deal......TOO late now.
I had a gold colored 1968 Javelin, and a green one (1970)like this video, back in the early 70's when I was a kid! My friends liked my car better than the popular Mustangs, and Camaros....It looked faster.....and it was! It had a bad name back then , because it was a "Rambler" product.... I wish I had them back right now!!!! They are RARE CARS!
Don't misunderstand, mind you- I think it is a Donohue- was referring to the comment someone made about whether it had the unmarked block- these cars came with 360's and 390's and few, if any had the unmarked block which is generally known as a service replacement block with thick walls ( 360 bore ) and the thick 390/401 webs. Have seen lately that somebody is asking about if late production '70 AMX's had the block ( 401 casting number on the rear ledge ). This car's value was in the options
It's been sold, but for future reference an unmarked block isn't the line between a"real" Donohue or not. The build date, and the equipment (SST- "Mark"spoiler- 360 or 390) are indicators only. There's no special number in the vin or on the door data tag to separate a Donohue. Only a sales invoice or other paperwork making reference would tell. It was an option package - and as such- only the paperwork confirms.
@SteveASuper That's exactly right. We could not produce any paperwork to confirm it, so we had to sell it as a "possible" Mark Donohue. My brother wasn't the happeist with doing that but it was on my eBay account and I was not about to mislead someone.
Also that car gas everything the wing the go package open ram air hood package 140MPH speedo did it have a window sticker at all this thing is rare ive never seen one of these in gold color? Donahue cars were only made from Jan-march 1970 i think this says feb. cool ride wish i would have bought it how much did you sell it for?
@J4BBL The window sticker was the most important part, and we didn't have it. It was also missing the air cleaner and scoop inserts, and people that looked at it said they are nearly unobtainable at this point. It sold somewhere close to $3,000, and I have my doubts if the person that bought it is capable of restoring it. A person that WAS capable passed on it, and that's too bad.
@WhoSaidTyler that car is awesome the wing prooves enough for myself hopefully that guy will either do it or send it elsewhere. i have a 70 big bad green with same thing
their are 360 donahue cars with HO 360 motors and you didn't need a spoiler to be a donahue car. Was a factory add on option after. Finding a 70 wing means either it came off of a donahue car or this maybe was ordered after with one.
Check under the motor mount and see what the CID number is. If its just a plate and no numbers you have a Donohue block. If it says 360? Its not a true Donohue. Nice find anyway.
@DeputyGrumpy Thanks for the info...this car actually has been sold, but it in fact had 360 on the block. We figured the chances of it being a real car were fairly slim.
What a sweet find. I can't wait to see the progress!
I had an old 76 Hornet 2 door hatchback with a 308 (I think that's what it was) The body went the way of the doe doe but you couldn't kill it mechanically. Did burnouts like it was born with a smoke stack up its ass.
Drove it to the scrap yard and watched them crush it! Wish YouTube was around in the early 80's, woulda made a great vid.
How about the grille in the 4 door next to this one ?
How Much ?

@bmw76308 The entire car just sold for $1300. It was a driver, not a parts car.

jeepers2655 8 months ago
@jeepers2655 Thing is, we don't have 25k to restore it, and that's what it would have required.
More than one AMC collector came by here to look it over and said the same thing.
In the end it couldn't be proven it was a real Donahue, and you just can't risk that kind of money on a hunch.
