  • Vinnie is awesome just listen to Vicious Rumors song called INVADER......All Vinny.........Probably his best solo.........Listen to that song if you have never heard it..... all solo...... but there is still, to this day, something special about Michaels last solo on Strangers.......Still have the LP.......Awesome Guitar Work............

  • saw this tour at middlesbrough ,played guitar for 30 years and really appreciated the technical ability but musically i would take schenker every time, support band were voodoo six and i thought their guitarist had more to say musically and told him so,still whatever floats your boat

  • I have written it so often, Vinnie is ok but Michael Schenker is the legend and alwys will be. UFO with Michael Schenker will always be the best. This video shows it again. I am lucky that I saw UFO with Michael in 1997. I saw UFO with Moore once and that was definitely the last.

  • amazing... pete owns the stage...

  • Putting a album together with no singing is very dificult.!! Go get Vinnie's "MInd's Eye". Vinnie can put together an album by himself. Scheneker is a lead guitarist that requires a singer. Doesn't make one better but each has his own pluses.

  • I agree with most of the comments. Vinnie clearly has tremendous command of the instrument and some cool ideas, but he doesn't have Schenker's intuition - he can't build a solo and keep the feel and he's in "auto pilot" - like he's playing to himself in his basement. Not a guy from the Page/Schenker school.

Unfortunately, Schenker's been a mess for the last few years (see his website.) I think Paul Chapman was the 2nd. best UFO guitarist. Not as much feel as Schenker, but close.

  • I REALLY DISAGREE...

  • Vinnie Moore is a great musician but his sound isn't all that unique. No one on this planet sounds like MS. Their are many great artist but their is only one Picasso.

  • Noodle, Noodle, Noodle..no soul

MS could take one note and play it through all

that noodling your seeing in this video and come across with authority and taste

No comparison between this guy and MS....

  • uhhh....wheres the feel?...@0:48>> he's stuck on stuck and heading str8 for nowheresville with that shit. i dont give a flying rat fucked ass what anyone says about my post in regards to vinnies lack of feel and authentic style...i have 1 ?...whos going around playing covers of vinnies stuff?...uhhh!

  • That's is probably one of the mildest Schenker stories! He was never known for his work ethic or sobriety. That does'nt make for a well liked band member. I'm a Michael Schenker fan, have been for many of years, great tone and always melodic but I've grown tiresome of the antics. I was suppose to see him play last year and he canceled the gig at the last moment and then 2 weeks later I see a YouTube posting of him playing so drunk onstage he sounded like a 8 year old. I'm glad I did'nt see him!

  • I see that all the people expressing their opinion that Schenker is far better get "bad comment" reviews. Well, my opinion is the same, Schenker adds the final piece (and IMO a huge piece) of magic to the "old" UFO with his melodic solos and riffs, his perfect pitch bends and vibrato, which are a joy to listen to. VM just plays a muddle of notes going up and down the scales. How many Schenker solos can you remember in your head, and how many from VM? VM is a good guitarist, Schenker is a legend

  • Sorry nice try but no Schenker. Doesn't have the soul and feeling. Vinnie I heard Dragonforce was looking for another speed poser.

  • WELL DONE VINNIE, GREAT GUITAR

  • Vinnie Moore has nothing on Schenker. A 2nd rate Malmsteen indeed. Schenker had that classical feel in he 70's way before any of these fools, and always played with incredible feel, tone, and speed, he had it all, and can still tear it up. It's not just about speed...didn't we learn that from the 80's??

  • Just one last note to observe - look at how the singer and bassist are gathering around him as if there mocking him. -They're annoyed with his playing already.

  • All he did here were a few double hammers and a monotonous bit of classical scale sequences without any planning. Listen to it, it just sounds like a lot of noise(and I like noise but not this). No spaces, tempo changes, nothing. Technically proficient while having "feel" guitarists would be Jason Becker(used to play), Kirk Hammett, Joe Satriani, Zakk Wylde. Vinnie just sucks. When I went to school nobody ever cared about this guy. This guy is a joke.

  • Vince is a second rate Yngwie wannabe locked into that neo-classical school that was popular in the early 80s but never went anywhere.

  • vinnie is a god!!

  • He can't be a god. Most gods are overrated.

    Vinnie is SORELY underrated.

  • This isn't a competition. MS and VM are both great guitarists obviously... but VM is technically better imho. For one, MS's a 3 fingered player rarely if ever using his pinky where VM is a true Virtuoso... I'm not knocking MS, just spouting some praise for VM who imo DOES have great "feel, tone, phrasing, and appreciation for melody".

  • Tough crowd! Not much luv for Vinnie. I understand though as Michael has a legion of fans built up over 30 years. You've got to hand it to Vinnie he stands and delivers while being his own man. I'm certainly not objective as I've been a fan of BOTH players for over 20 years but Vinnie is no hack. Oh yaeh he actually shows up for the gig sober. I saw Michael in the early 80's and he got pissed at the soundman 3 songs in, took his V and slammed it head 1st into the PA speakers neve to be seen agai

  • Figures. anybody from the van halen school side of rock is going to like anything that is going to be mechanical and after awhile annoying like that solo Vince was playing. There is something in the way of musical integrity which incorporates a more lyrical style in the way emotion and phrasing which is what the song called for and what Michael Schenker delivered.

  • Vinnie Moore is heads and shoulders above MS ...sorry. Compare ANY of VM's solo material to MS's efforts and it's a knock out. MS is superb I love his tone...but Vinnie is a shredder with incredible versitility. Hey compare Michael Scheneker "Thank You 4" acoustic instrumental disc (2003) to any of VM's material...case closed!

  • Schenker has a way-better apprecatoin of the melody and is more subtle and diverse

  • If it was a boxing match MS would be on the canvas by the 6th....sorry!

  • You are an idiot. What VM solos do you remember they just go up and down scales, clever but not inspiring. Scheneker has great feel tone and control. from the soul not a text book

  • Awsome dude.

  • Fecking goods

  • Vinnie is simply amazing !

  • I was lucky enough to see UFO on the tour that strangers in the night was recorded and there will only be 1 Micheal Schenker anything else is a imitation!

  • Unless there is a guy called Vinnie Moore who is not an imitation, but is brilliant in his own way:D

  • Really happy listening to Vinnies tone!

It works to me, short of NEO improv mixed with blues, Vinnie style! Good job, love Schenker, and LOVE to hear malmsteens take on this as i think he would BLACKMORE this jam completely out with his KILLER Fender/Marshall tone :)

  • I own Vinnie Moore Records and like his style - but in fact he tries to put things into UFO that simply don´t work - Many of his Licks are simply not in the drummers timing and groove, cause Vinnie seems unable to slow things down to the drummers BPM...Sorry to hear that...

  • I don't even try to rank guitar players; I have just TOO many favorites. I love Schenker, Vai, Satriani. Malmsteen, Hendrix, Beck, Keaggy, and a zillion others. I am too busy enjoying their music to get into arguments over who is best. Besides there are almost as many opinions as there are great guitar players. There are even some fantastic players on YouTube that are unknown.

  • hehe the tried to get John Norum, but he couldn't accept (The EUROPE reunion), so UFO got Vinnie Moore.

  • To all of you: Vinnie Moore is every day playing Schenker songs and Schenker solo's. Schenker is an original guitarist from the seventies just like Blackmore, Page, Van Halen. Vinnie Moore is just one of the many Shrapnel clones. So who is the master: no doubt Michael Schenker!!!!Without him nobody would know the band UFO. So that's my opinion and I know the real UFO fans have the same opinion!

  • No there are hundreds of guitarist that are influenced by Schenker. Schenker has something that Moore and many other guitarist don't have and that is groove, sense of melody and melodic virtuosity. Technically he is perfect and original. I think that I like the more classic players and you more the 80's players like Vinnie, Malmsteen etc. They all play fast with alot of notes, I prefer the classic style like Schenker,Uli Roth, Gary Moore etc.But Schenker is a legend and the absolute number 1!

  • Many of 80's belongs to the, sense of melody types of guitarists.

What you refer as (80's players are metal guitarists, not hard rock/blues.

To put all the technique one can find in a song doesn't make the guitar player more technically oriented,

    simply lost!

The ones that plays more melody, doesn't show all the technique they got.

A good guitar player put in the technique that the song needs, not more, not less.

  • Do me a favor and do NOT compare Vinnie to Yngwie. Vinnie is way more melodic and compositionally sound. Have you ever heard a Vinnie Moore album?

  • Vinnie probably learned guitar playing listening to MS. Maybe he's faster but he misses finess of MS. Compare this solo to the one on Strangers in the night. Case Closed. Ther's only one MS, There are many vinnies.

  • Did you read the comment on that vid: God-like....Michael was pure MAGIC...the best rock show i've EVER seen, and i've seen about 240 concerts in my lifetime...UNGODLY GREAT!.....saw him last night in knaresborough he was BRILLIANT back to his best.

  • Schenker was the original Cranker!

  • Pissing contest has to stop. Both guitarists are great at what they do, period.

  • Krelbar is right. Both are great and do diffent thing brilliantly. Both are great on their own and IMHOP both are good in UFO.

  • stfu bitch

  • ...Vinnie Moore is a great guitarist....however, when he can COMPOSE as well as Schenker then maybe you'd have a point.

  • you say vinnie moore IS better ?

    that's your opinion

    Micheal schenker rocks too.

plz don't say supid things, we don't reply because we don't like UFO right ?

UFO ROCKS with michael schenker or vinnie moore...and that's that

  • vinnie is good but mike schencker is the man? only he can rock you;

  • dub in some crystal clear fiber vocals:

Oh it's been too many times and I can't go back

Night bars, guitars, rundown motels like shacks

What it mounts up to I don't want it at all

Lost you and I want you today

  • fuck, the BEST!

  • Vinnie is a fine guitarist .I'm glad he finally joined a top band like UFO, his playing has become very melodic and cool.

  • Vinnie is awesome but he is not right for UFO. Jeff Kollman should be on guitar - Mogg/Way - 'Chocolate Box' blows away anything with Vinnie by a mile. Kollman has Schenker down and puts his own spin on it - Vinnie is too much of a scale noodler.

  • my most favorite since 78" simply wonderful keep on rockin ufo get near vancouver either one I will make the show

  • Idon't know this guy schenker but Vinnie Moore is my favorite guitarist. I've listened to all the solo albums and I gotta say, what he's playing here isn't the best he's got to offer, there are tons of better stuff. Has anyone bothered to listen songs like SAVED BY A MIRACLE or COMING HOME ? Por cierto ,"stillofthenightcl" estoy de acuerdo cien por ciento con tu comentario

  • You don't know Michael Schenker?????? You gotta check out Jeeper13FV's video collection then!!! You'll say "Vinnie who?" LOL

  • HAHAHHAH!! Vinnie moore is LIGHT YEARS ahead os Schenker! In 88 vinnie was untouchable.

  • oh I totally agree. Vinnie's solo work was outstanding. Looks like the other band members are f***ed up clowing around him in this video.

  • I walked out on Schenker at his concert in NJ because I was bored to death. He blows.

  • ...To each his own...

  • Sorry but this just sounds like guitar practice at home. He trys to say with a million notes what schenker says with a lot less. They should call this the Vinnie Moore band that does UFO cover songs.

  • SPEED

  • this is music to my ears, great guitar

  • good comment from two american rockers clilli and electric, scots and yanks know there music, rock on?

  • Vinnie is an awesome guitarist and technically superior BUT schenker is overall is better. WHY? Better soloing. Better "feel". Unpredicatable. Original. Way better songwriter. Schenker, IMHO, is unreplaceable.

With Schenker you can sense that he struggles sometimes to get the melody playing in his head out to his fingers but, oh what a melody. With Vinnie he doesn't have to struggle but his melodies are so so. I like both but I vote schenker as the best hands down rock guitar player.

  • vinman you are not with it, michael schenker a class a above moore, good solo but listen to strangers in the night and you will know the schenkmaster is the man?

  • Thanks for bringing up Strangers in the night! Now I can look it up. Haven't heard it in years.

Mogg looks like he needs something to do tho

  • grande vinnie!!!!!! un lavoro eccellente yahhhhhhhhhhh
