  • @kagemusha08 well said and analyzed I agree

  • iradaaaaaaaa

  • Cool! I actually prefer early MMA to the recent events! Early UFCs were much more interesting to watch than the recent events.

  • Actually he didn't even need to attack his legs, because the other one ran to his shoulders so it wast so risky. Anyway it was very nice..

  • That was risky, He could just kick his head

    but he didn't : P

  • @IfritKajiTora What was risky? Going in for the double?

  • @snoopyofdoomxx When he want to catch him, then that other guy can just strike his head by knee,

and that was risky because he could do that. but he didn't

  • @IfritKajiTora It wouldn't have done much anyway. He was shifting his weight forward and there wouldn't have been enough power generated in that knee to do damage. I've taken many knees to the face doing takedowns, timing helps a lot.

  • @IfritKajiTora It's pretty obvious you don't follow MMA at all.

A kick to the head is much riskier than a double-leg takedown.

  • @ThePinkMan You right better stand like idiot and not hit enemy because he will be very angry xD, and he will kill us.

But why it is much risky? he want to grab he's legs and he is not prepare for knee attack, (ofcorse I talking about before he grab he's legs)

  • @IfritKajiTora The correct response to a takedown is to shoot your legs AWAY from the person trying to take you down. This is called a sprawl, it's a tried and true defense.

Trying to throw a knee when someone is trying to take you down will more often than not just leave you off balance and easier to slam. A takedown is deceptively fast.

  • DOMINATOR!

  • Possibly still the best KO from a slam

  • Shamrock in his prime was as good or better than everyone.

  • He moved alot better here than when he fought baroni...younger I guess, but he also seems more confident with that "invincible aura" from his non verbals

  • why would that end his career? bones heal up and he could have fought again..whats the problem

  • @Catlin11 In Frank Shamrock's biography he said the slam was so devistating that Igor was too scared to get back in the cage again after that. Now, that's a fucking SLAM!

  • this is why u always had to prepare a lot for frank.. he might end ur career in 20 seconds

  • frank slamcock is a piece of shit for ending a great mans career

  • ouch! that probably sucked for Igor. Was his collarbone fucked that bad that he couldn't continue?

  • @mrkiky In Frank Shamrock's biography he talked about the devistating slam on Igor. The slam was so powerful it knocked him unconvious and broke his collerbone into 3 peices. Not only could he not fight anymore, he was too scared to enter the ring again. Now, Igor is just a small time trainer at a MMA gym.

  • @XiuTheFeared "Scared". Gimme a break jackass. He's not "scared". If you have a devastating knee injury in football, it doesn't mean you're scared to play football anymore. He probably just couldn't fight anymore (i.e. move his arms the way he wanted). Calling Zinonviev scared shows what an ignoramus YOU are.

  • @JohnLeeMD Bro, i'm just quoting what Shamrock said in his biography about this fight. Take it up with Frank if you have a problem with what he wrote.

  • @XiuTheFeared frank told me you were a jackass

  • @XiuTheFeared your problem is bealiving everything you read

  • @corporacionmonstruo And yours is spelling ;-)

  • @1990Adamd in English ? of course, not my lenguage troll

  • @corporacionmonstruo You made that obvious.

  • @1990Adamd so?

  • i remember renting this a long time ago and it was one of the best KO i ever seen since i started watching the ufc in the mid 90s.

  • Frank Shamrock is a douche TODAY. But he is one of the greatest ever to do it. PERIOD

  • this guys was the original GSP, the first one to successfully integrate takedowns, submissions, and striking into one style, just like everyone else does now.

  • @cell9899 Exactly right, and to think Ken Shamrock told him he would never do anything but run a gym. Frank proved him wrong.

  • @cell9899 Not entirely accurate. Shamrock was one of the first but there were others who were well-rounded around the same era (which is to say dangerous in all three facets of MMA) like Mach Sakurai. Shamrock however was probably the first guy to really bring in a kickboxing coach to train kickboxing and a wrestling coach to train wrestling, not to mention the first to really put a lot of effort into Strength and conditioning.

  • haha ancient mma back when the wrestler dominated hahaha Love Frank though anyways.....hate Ken.

  • @daddygreenjeens Uh.... wrestling still dominates.

HW champ Cain Velasquez - wrestler.

LHW champ Jon Jones - wrestler

MW #1 contender Chael Sonnen - wrestler

WW champ GSP - great wrestler

LW #1 contender Gray Maynard - wrestler

  • @AQUIETMOISTURE sorry to hurt your feelings but back in ancient mma the only person who won consistently was a wrestler; nowadays that is not the case: fighters do a lot more than wrestle. You know this, and I understand you wanted to make some point to some no body on the internet but if you do a little research on any of your posted fighters you'll see that all of them can do a lot more than wrestle.

  • @daddygreenjeens lol no one on this end is getting their feelings hurt, but it's nice to see you're er.. trying? Everyone I mentioned above is PRIMARILY a wrestler. GSP did not start out as a wrestler but he has become a great wrestler and uses it the most nowadays, excluding the Koscheck fight. Of course they do more than wrestle. To mention that is stupid. This is MIXED martial arts after all, not wrestling. Even back in "ancient MMA" as you call it, which was really only about

  • @AQUIETMOISTURE 20 or so years ago, the wrestlers threw a punch every now and then -- are you telling me that the wrestlers only won back in the day by wrestling and nothing else? Why don't you just accept that you were wrong in stating that wrestlers only dominated back in the day. They continue to dominate. The guys I mentioned are proficient in other areas as well -- but they are first and foremost WRESTLERS. except GSP.

  • @AQUIETMOISTURE To mention that is stupid? To say that wrestling still dominates is stupid. I guess attempting to tell someone who probably drives around in an f150 with a tap out sticker on the back is even more stupid, lol Good Luck Champ.

  • @daddygreenjeens alright genius, why don't you explain HOW I'm wrong instead of simply STATING that I'm wrong? I've given solid evidence to back up my argument, and all you've contributed is false assumptions about me. What a retard

  • @AQUIETMOISTURE Take your last word and tell your family about how well you articulate your ideas on the internet champ.

  • @daddygreenjeens Lol I guess you've given up trying to prove your point. Just goes to show you don't know what the fuck you're talking about

  • @AQUIETMOISTURE to you, the world isn't what it really is, so yes to you I don't know what I 'm talking about........but you're the one that is probably turning a monkey wrench at work living for the next mma fight, not me. Too bad, it turns out someone knows more than you about mma. Stop copy and pasting sherdog. com bits. For gods sake, take the stupid tap sticker off of your crap gasoline guzzler, lol - you tool.

  • @AQUIETMOISTURE ye it goes without saying, if ur take downs and take down defense is good then you have can most probably have the fight wherever u want it.

  • Frank Shamrock submitted Olympic wrestler Kevin Jackson in record time, when the two of them fought in the UFC in Japan in the 90's. It's an epic win!

  • Hey guys Igor is still the man.

  • Just like Tito Ortiz vs Evan Tanner....the reason both guys got knocked out isn't only because of the slam....in this case, Shamrock's shoulder hits Zinoviev on the chin while he's on the ground. Same thing during Tito's fight.....Tito's head hits Tanner after he slams him.

  • @SeenaSeenaSeena

yeah RAMPAGE head slammed into ARONA chin as he slammed him also but ARONA probably woulda been asleep just from the slam

  • This is when they started putting a lot more padding on the mat! Igor was the man but Frank (wow what a slam) was more of the man.

  • Assassin's Slam

  • 1998 and I remember it like yesterday because TK beat KIMO

  • that's a pretty impressive slam but the greatest slam of all time is fucking rampage slaming arona

  • Too bad Shamrock was a little too full of himself. Was never gonna end well when Dana White is the same exact way. I figure Shamrock would have walked through any of todays UFC middleweights, setting up a big fight with Silva....White is a fool for not taking advantage of Shamrocks following years ago (Shamrocks fight vs Renzo Gracie in 2006 still holds the US record for MMA paid attendance at an event) But now Shamrock is too old and retiring. What could have been....

  • unbelievable slam

  • Zinoviev beat some top names like Mario Sperry and Enson Inoue. I think he fought John Lober to a draw, too. He was an impressive fighter and if not for the slam he might have defeated Shamrock. He had the skills to do it. I believe that slam not only messed up his collarbone, but his shoulder and spine, too.

  • yep he had to retire after ..

  • broke his clavicle and c-5 vertebrae. ouch.

  • That was a mayor lucky hit for Shamrock, if igor would've put his hands on Frank Shamrock, he would've been the one on the floor

  • @heinz5356baolcom Lucky? That was skill.

  • @heinz5356baolcom

In soviet Russia, Life doesn't slam you, You slam life!

  • This is more potent than the Ortiz-Tanner slam. Zino was a hell of a fighter up to this point.

  • thats surprising to end his career

i know people who play rugby with broken collar bones

ne shed any light to why this broken collar was worst?

  • Legendary :-D

  • That slam crushed to of Igor's vertebrae, he never faught again after this fight.

  • It was his collarbone

  • career ender that one was

  • shamrock was the man back in his prime! I bet if he fought diaz or cung le when he was like this, it would have been a different story

  • @thejokerrm diaz yes but cung maybe not cung is kinda in his late 30's . 37 too u know .

  • @thejokerrm cung le s older than frank..

  • @thejokerrm, Cung Le is 7 months older than Frank. Both born in 1972. So I guess Cung Le stays in his prime fighting condition longer than Frank.

  • @seize7days you're an idiot... it's not always about just AGE but about MILES. shamrock has been in the mma game FAR longer than CUNG.

  • @kanodogg, Okay, lets see here... Admit it that Frank Shamrock is mediocre, with a record of 23-10 and 2 draws. Check out Silva (27-4) and Fedor (31-2) who are great champions with lots of mileage and age.

Lets look at MILEAGE only. Kimbo Slice has no mileage, so according to you, he should kick ass left and right like Cung has. Instead Kimbo gets knocked out left and right.

Some fighters don't have it, like Kimbo, mileage or not. Others lost it at a certain age, like Frank Shamrock.

  • @seize7days age doesnt equal prime......frank was a natural mw fighting bigger guys with more dangerous rules and retired on top.

  • @wade2bosh, Yeah I can agree with you on that "age doesn't equal prime". Let me rephrase...Age has nothing to do with prime. Therefore, a fighter can come into his prime (his top fighting condition) at an earlier age like Shamrock when he was younger; and others can can come and stay in into their prime at a later age like Cung (38yrs) or boxer Sergio Martinez (35yrs).

  • @seize7days ha i was thinking about sergio yea its true age dosnet really matter but as long as your commitment is there you should be fine cause when you get older you tend to not want to be as committed after all youve been through

  • @seize7days lol roy nelson

  • @seize7days Also realize that if your gonna compare records realize that Frank fought guys from many different weight classes...many of them were much bigger than him and most of those losses/draws came in Pancrase. If my memory serves me correctly he was undefeated in the UFC. To call him mediocre is laughable man, come on. He was one of the first fighters to ever mix wrestling, grappling, jujitsue, and striking and do it really well...By really well I mean the best of his time.

  • @thejokerrm While, I do agree that he would have given Cung Le a better fight if he was in his prime, when it comes to kickboxing with takedowns and throws (Sanshou as well as Sanda), Cung Le is the man (as far as North America is concerned). Matter of fact, I believe the time this fight took place with Zinoviev was around the time he was training with Cung as a sparring partner in San Jose (which probably explains why the fight ended the way it did).

  • @Tohtruck

LOL yea I am sure he learned that wrestling TD from Cung le...

  • @redvexx If that's sarcasm, then I will go ahead and assume you have not seen many of Cung Le's Sanshou fights or heard Frank Shamrock commenting on his training with Cung Le as a sparring partner.

  • @Tohtruck

Its just a double leg take down dumbass. He did not learn that from training with Cung Le

  • @thejokerrm against Diaz? lol fuck no!

  • He knock him out with his shoulder when they touched the floor.

    Awesome slam tough;a real one,a-la-rampage

  • Broke his collarbone

  • ayy idc wat anyone says igore is a beast!

  • He probebly gonne train the IFL MMA fighters

  • Igor Zinovjev is a Great Champion. He was a champion of UFC before this slam.

I still remember his fight with eternal legend Mario Sperry.

So Igor is still the best for me.

  • It was the spinal fracture which ended his career. Nasty. Check out Rampage vs Ricardo Arona if you wanna see a MEGA slam.

  • The mat much be softer now. It sounded like the dude was dropped on concrete.

  • It didn't make the top 100 because Dana hates Frank Shamrock. That is the truth, just like the only time you saw Barnett on the list was when he got knocked out by Rizzo. Josh needs to learn how to pass a piss test though.

  • That's the truth right there. When Dana White has it in for you, you ain't going anywhere. You're better off finding a different promotion, before he turns the UFC into the WWF.

  • Hard to believe this didn't make the UFC top 100 list

  • How does the collarbone end an MMA career?

  • coooooooool

  • It resulted in a broken clavicle and a fractured C-5 vertebrae

  • That look like it fuckin hurt that broke his collarbone am I right?

  • Yeh broke his collarbone and ended his career. now thats a fuckin slam

  • hell yeah

  • @0506203 u sure about ending his career? cuz i think he had more fights afterward.

  • @trakas35 Not 100% but the fightfinder says it was his last fight as well. The sherdog guys are usually on top of things

  • @0506203

It was his last fight ever, broke his collarbone and changed his life

  • @0506203 yeah it did end his career

  • @trakas35

yea it ended his career it says on wiki.

  • @trakas35 yes. that slam ending Igor's career

  • @trakas35 ended his career

  • @trakas35 Nah, that was his last fight I'm pretty sure.

  • @trakas35 It ended his fighting career...He broke his collarbone very sevrely, Since this fight he has worked as a personal trainer and bodyguard

  • @0506203 doesnt a collarbone heal properly or why did he stop his MMA career?

  • @r2d2rx no if you break your collarbone it doesnt ever get fully healed and you can break it again over and over, i know cause one of my friends had a broken collar bone and couldnt even roll on it after it healed without it breaking

  • @0506203 did it broke the right collarbone from the punch or the left collarbone from thr slam ?
