Not sure where ur town is at but there is a place in orange county in southern California called rotary reliability and racing...i took my car there for a rebuild amazing guys reasonable prices and fair peeps
LOOKING FOR A RX-7 SHOP>>>>> im from stockton CA and like to find a shop close by to do work on my FB 12a 1.1...if you know about a shop plz let me know thank you
I dont know to much about Rotary engines past the basic idea if how they work but I'd like to learn more, they seem pretty simple and make big power for how small they are but what is it about them that makes them ware or need rebuilt so offen? I noticed this guys post down below saying that if you change the oil every 2k miles one should last 60k miles and every1 on the fourms seem to be constantly rebuilding theres. I'm used to conventonal piston engines and never thought 60k was alot of miles
@steelcityracer1320 A lot of it is paranoia and lemming mentality. I have a 2004 Rx-8 with 120k miles on it, never rebuilt or anything. It runs stronger now then the day I bought it. I change my oil every 2700, check it once in a while to make sure it's not low and that's about it. I'll rebuild mine when I boost it, just to make sure but I would do that for any motor over 100k. The only thing I go through is a set of spark plugs a year, and that's because I drive a lot. They're $80. lol
just a question, you show how lapping the surface of the side housing gets it flat and nicely finished again, but isn´t that surface, originally hardened with a thermal treatment, going to wear prematurely when removing that treatment by lapping ?
Great Vid !
( sorry about any mistakes in my english, it´s still kinda bad :P )
alright...the guy in the video obviously knows what he's talking about and everything, and i may get this video for my rotary, but seriously...it's an engine, not a motor...
Always let it warm up when you drive it, do regular oil changes, check oil level and coolant at EVERY fill up at a gas station. You should have no problems.
haha. its alot to take in. i've owned an FD rx7 and its not as bad as people make it out to be. as long as you know the weaknesses of the engine and take care of it accordingly then you'll have no problems at all. the rx7 is very rewarding car. i really miss my FD. sold it cause i moved out of the country.
@driftingcom So you mean I can rebuild my engine within 2 hours? are you freaking serious?! Or do I misunderstand something here? lol. Also, how much did all the parts cost?
Absolutely excellent video!!! And while the person providing the narration sounds young, he does and excellent job of clearly articulating the process.
Rotaries are junk for so many reasons. Dont bother with them!

As much as I would love to own a RX-7 or 8 , the idea of doing this every 30k miles is a deal breaker. Great video though.

There are many different types of seals inside of rotary engines.

haha I agree, everyone always says it wrong. Engines go in cars typically; motors do not usually.

isnt it motor=electric engine=combustion? or something like that
