Since the puritans we have worked hard and thus were characterized by our strong work ethic and strong individualism, as well as LIBERTY. Our constitution limits the role of the federal government. All other rights are given to the individual states. For instance, Massachusetts (and other states) instituted their own health care plan. In any area there are numerous charities to help. Private citizens are extremely generous in terms of giving money and time.

What happened? Those plans paid for drugs w/ a $10 copay, a $20 Dr. copay, and limited what they would have to pay out for hospitalization ($3000). It was a MASSIVE improvement over what Medicare offers...and the Medicare recipients loved it. Even better, the insurance companies made money on it.

I agree that we may not be far from a revolution but not the likes of Boston Harbor. Mr or Mrs. Austrailian, we here in america were raised under the belief that America is a republic, meaning that you and you alone are responsible for your yourselves, and in the process of providing for yourselves, you and you alone should benefit from the fruit of your labor! Americans are not responsible for other peoples livelyhoods and this includes healthcare, welfare, and education, in general this means that the government is only responsible for providing a free and secure state !

Its not really about caring for people its truly about controlling the government and ensuring that the principals that out founding fathers gave us continue to guide us. Every single person in this country by law has guaranteed major medical health care. Emergency rooms cant turn you away. The real issue is our country was founded on freedom and trying to promote self reliance. 300+yrs ago in Jamestown we saw what happens with socialism thats why we have a republic! Hope this helps...

Americans DO care about the poor and destitute. Americans are the most charitable people in the world. What we do oppose is federal control. Our constitution limits the role of the federal government. All other rights are given to the individual states. For instance, Massachusetts (and other states) instituted their own health care plan. In any area there are numerous charities to help. Private citizens are extremely generous in terms of giving money and time.

Power, not originally given in the U.S. Constitution, given to the Federal government causes an abridgement of U.S. citizens' freedoms. Sadly many of our congressmen and senators have other agendas and do NOT follow the Constitution.
As another note, conservatives (right-wing) believe in PERSONAL responsibilty. They are also the more generous of personal money, on average 30% more, than liberals (left wing).

Rational -- Bush ALREADY DID. It's called MEDICARE ADVANTAGE. The Feds paid private insurers $572/mo and had THEM take care of 100% of the medical coverage.
What happened? Those plans paid for drugs w/ a $10 copay, a $20 Dr. copay, and limited what they would have to pay out for hospitalization ($3000). It was a MASSIVE improvement over what Medicare offers...and the Medicare recipients loved it. Even better, the insurance companies made money on it.

It's pretty important to note also, that Ronnie was talking about the 20 year debate on what would become the Medicare bill.
Medicare was put into law in 1965, that's nearly 50 years ago...and we're no more a socialist country than we were 50 years ago or will ever be.
