  • Not a stupid amount of money at all... This system will last forever. It's worth every penny :) You did well. PMC speakers are designed beautifuly, and teh Cyrus cd player with k2 amp... Well... I migth of gone with a cyrus 8vs2 amp my self but still.. Fantastic system you have.

  • I have the PMC DB1+ with an Electrocompaniet ECI-2 and for the moment a Panasonic DMB-BD80 as CD-player. It has also a good quality sound like yours.

  • song?

  • Its all about priorities, in the UK I bet most people spend that much on alcohol and going out. Difference is you still have 3000 pounds worth of equipment that'll give you more pleasure in the long term.

  • that is a nice setup wouldnt ever pay £3500. Ive paid a fraction of that. For that i have some the best vintage gear. B&W DM580 floorstanders, NAD 2200's monoblocks (upgraded) NAD 5200 cd deck. List goes on. Not miles better sounding but its the control and the sheer scale and the ability to send your mind into spasm

  • what a shit set up

  • Its not a waste of money. Cheaper systems tend to make the vocals sound un-natural. High price systems tend to sound like the vocals are real or at least close to real...

  • tell you something funny, his speaker cable, mains and interconnect cost more than the amp and cd player. Crazy I know and I told him I would spen $1000 on my system but when I herd the track in person man!!!!.

Anyway Im gonna soon post my Dali Helicon 300mk2, Cyrus DAC Xp with CDseXT CD player and two Roksan mono's. CAble is same but Interconnects are going to be Chord indigo. Sick

  • Nice system....fix the rug.

  • i dunno mate, sounds the same as my laptop :P

  • That is a really nice system. Yeah, 3500 quid is a lot to drop on a hifi system but you generally do get what you pay for. In my case, I decided to stick with mid-fi equipment (Yamaha & Boston Acoustics); too many other hobbies draining by checkbook ;-)

  • Why not stretch out the speakers some more or use even shorter wires. Then you might be able to use it as some kind of cup-string-cup telephone.

  • should have got some quad electrostatics. You might also want to learn how speakers work and how the signal is sent, lol.

Your speakers are in the wrong position.

  • @myredfactionfil yeh, if everyone had 20k to blow on speakers they would know how to position them, why not enlighten us!

  • @SalamOxford

He's the one that brought up money and to play them on our PC speakers (lol).

  • Comment removed

  • You Donut!!! how do we supposed to hear how good it is out of our pc speakers!! and for £3500 you should tidy it all up with longer cables, nice stand and a clean rug! lol

  • Is the Kandy a High Current-Amplifier?

  • @AlDiRoberto k2 is 20-30 amps

  • @AlDiRoberto sorry 50Amps according to website but buch of liers.

  • Very nice set up and I can tell it sounds pretty good even though I dont agree with the music slection. I do think cables do make a difference logically bigger cable means cleaner full sound as there is no restriction. I have a nice system myself and my next step is getting heavy duty speaker wire and connectors. Every little part makes a difference in a system. Lots of variables to consider and also depends on your budget. I cant wait to see the difference!!!

  • Listened with headphones today....

    Very nice>>>>>>

  • love the K2 amp, got 1 along with the cd player K2 and matching speakers + a TT rega P3/24... cyrus look amazing also - all british sound, rule! congrats on system ;) do you know how to shut off the remote BEEP?

  • love the ROKSAN amp i got along with the K2 cd player

congrats, british sound all the way!

PS: do u know how to shut off the beep of remote?

  • system looks great! what can you say about the cyrus cd-player? is it really a best in class? should i audition it?

  • I got same 8x, ebay best bet. highly unlikely you will find one to audition but 8se is one of the best cd players out there. Arcam, not fast enough. Rega doesn't sound good enough.

  • people who are aware of these brands are not idiots. they all have enough knowledge from reading reviews and talking to specialists on how to set up for the optimum sound.

  • ok, i personally like really fast sound as you say the cyrus does, but I HATE bright sound (if it has to 'sound' in a certain way, then prefereably darker than brighter sound), so what can you say about the cyrus brightness? I hope it's not overtrebled...

  • @idektron

shorter the cable the better SQ wise

  • How can we hear it ourselves you P£n!s

  • system sounds great. would you mind telling me what recording is that ? i know its wonderwall but from what album ?

  • Ryan Adams

  • you need to get some longer speaker cable and better music !

  • those cost £150 a metre, but i see your point on the music

  • Can you straighten your rug out. Its driving me mad...

  • @randycornhole glad i'm not the only one!

  • Agreed. Rotten version of wonderwall!

  • what a shit version of that song.

  • What speaker stands are you using and what sorta filling, if any?

  • i haven't put my stands yet because they are in my attic so i put them beside my floorstanding main speakers on the floor and they play fantastic with terrible balance and sound stage , i cant imagine how much better will play with the stands ...roksan k2 is driving them very good -with volume higher than the usual - but when i connected them with my Nuforce monoblocks Ref 9 V2 they played much better with better analysis & much more dynamic .

  • Atacama Nexus 6i with gel pads. Inside I filled with Atacama steel chips. The PMC TB2 speakers+ inc stands are for sale £600 and so is the Roksan K2 amp £600. I have moved house so haven't got space to put them anywhere.

  • I just bought kandy k2 and i hope to work fine with the ATC 11 .i just bought them too ....

  • tell me how that has worked out. I'm getting my ATC SCM11 in a few days time; mulling the Kandy K2 combo as well...

  • how's your setup? people keep advising me to do this that... etc doesn't work. I took this guys Advice and purchased a chord signature interconnect and man......... woooohoo. you should try it

  • Wow - sounds great on YouTube - must blow you away for real!

And cables make a HUGE difference. Anyone saying otherwise knows diddly about hi fi...

  • PMC TB2İ

  • Which model PMC's ???

  • By all means keep throwing away ridiculous amounts of money on cables while they make such a tiny difference in the sound. You should have improved your room acoustics instead...

  • I see you point but as I dont own the home i dont want to go down that road. FYI the Chord interconnects are the best £250 I have ever spent. I put £2500 DAC n cd on the system but still did not get the improvement from what I got from the chord.

  • If i dint have a similar setup then you have, you may have told me I wasted my money on them as well, but if I go buy what you suggested youve wasted you r money on Qed's and Dali's.

  • If you can't improve room acoustics, I understand, try to get some panels maybe? Have you even heard the difference they make? Hah wasted my money...that's a good one! I've done numerous tests with cables and at best they will offer miniscule changes in sound quality. Maybe you accidentally moved your furniture while installing your new cable and that is what made you think your system improved :) Speaker positioning is also a number one cause, as is adding a subwoofer for example.

  • any medium the signal passes through influences the sound as my experience with numerous cable and installations attest. To what degree? Well, I guess that depends one's hearing sensitivity... e.g. some individuals are tone/pitch indifferent etc

  • @pryml

I'm guessing you believe all the high-end cable makes a difference argument? Try blind testing and you'll see my friend. It's all in the mind. As I said earlier, room acoustics/subs/speakers/source (amp to some degree) are the biggest contributors to sound quality.

  • no doubt room acoustics play a major role, but back to my earlier point... There've been instances where I've returned to a familiar hifi setup and noticed a difference in sound and the only difference in the setup that I can see was the installation of different cables; or are you somehow suggesting that along with the cable change, the owner of the setup decided to do very subtle change in interior decor that I didn't notice? :-)

  • Did you notice a difference before having known about the cable change? If so, was the difference for the better or worse? Curious...interesting find.

  • yes, the difference was noted b4 i was aware of the cable change. And it's not just those that the audio signal passes thru; I've noted differences even when mains cables are changed as well. Just for a lark, I swapped the stock amp mains cable for a PC mains cable that was lying around and got an improvement in timing; music was more tuneful! :-D Detail didn't sound as well resolved though :-)

  • Haha, I bet you could sell that PC mains cable to some crazy audiophile for good money :D Put it in a box and write 'Improved timing and tune!' Worth a try.

  • ok, put some richersounds £1 p/m cable on your's and come back to me. Bristol hifi show has verious stands proving otherwise. they test interconnects to headphone amps, when they change to conventional cables or mid range I found there is a big loss of quality and soundstage. therefore better cables are worth it but I agree setup/ acoustics do matter but so do quality equipment which adds to get that better sound

  • Once you get past a certain price for cables (say QED/Chord) you get diminishing returns on performance. Believe me when I say this, just by moving your speakers you can create the illusion that you just upgraded cables. Who would've thought?

  • yeh, i dont dispute that once you pass 50 p/m on cables you dont get much more out the cables. but i did listen to my friends system recently, he is sceptical on spending more then 600 on a system but it sounded crap....what can i say.

  • sounds nice and i agree but it aint built with love or passion. Its ok buying your hifi all the same day and fit and forget but aint it. Audio is a musical journey and components are collected over years and swooped, changed, upgraded hence the sound that is personal to you. My system would have been worth that if more and i have rare system now. An amp that sounds like nothing else, a cd deck that defies defeat on any music and speakers that make sound like jim morrison in your room

  • ohh yes, as Rome was not build in a day nor was may system. Took me a long time to manage all the stuff. I would by them in one go as I would give i to temptation but the lack of finance made me buy everything in bits.

  • Nice system fella. Any chance you could tell me who did this version of wonderwall? Appreciate it.

  • Ryan Adams

  • Fantastic, I've got the same setup except with Dali floorstanders and QED cabling, also some power conditioners and whatnot. My room is too small for them though, but I'm moving soon to a bigger house. Good room acoustics too man. If you've got some time, go and audition Gamut bookshelfs!

  • use chord signature interconnects on your system, it improves sound so greatly its better then buying new kit. ebay £250
