damnn im a korean and i feel so proud. I feel like korean martial arts are not that popular and underrated. I wanna join this so bad! My parents wont let me join a gym or anything else except hwarangdo :)
Well thats good son. Stay with it cause Kuk Sool Won or Hwa Rang Do- are the truest korean art forms. Most of the arts got kinda watered down or lost.History seems to show that the arts actualy started in korea not china, so joo bang and Inhuyk worked very hard to keep the tradition alive
This is the style I have wanted to train in for ever but there isn't a school near KC. I have a terrible location as far as Martial Arts go, I'm surprised more don't come there, we are mostly barren of anything actually useful. Especially in the suburbs.
Don't quite get the question, but I hope this will suffice. Hwarangdo is a martial (warlike) art and that was it's original application. It was reintroduced to the modern soldiers through Michael Echanis who taught HRD to the elite units of the US Armder Forces, back in the 70s.
I used to train about 10 years ago in HwaRangDo. Something happened and the instructor started his own style, about that time i quit. The instructor was good and he trained from Michael Echanis, He had some very good footage of thoes days. I didnt know HwaRangDo still had instructors in the military. The good old days!
hwarangdo is a combat art! thats one reason!
