  • Maestro..... Bravo

  • Brilliant!

  • Fantástico!

  • dayum! these two maestros together. amazing team and unity. classical guitar bliss

  • I would gladly pay a buck or two for that Romanillos. I played a similar guitar once and there's nothing like them.

  • @simonshusse

    you big spender you

  • @minottauruss Nah, I wrote that I played one once, not that I owned one.. I will, however, try to build two or three in the Romanillos style, I'm very impressed with his sound.

  • Dos técnicas tan diferentes.

  • The best version on youtube!

Espania! It should be performed on guitars.

  • this song has haunted me in life in a spectacular way as I approached All Hallow's Eve. This beautiful movement transposed to nylon strings will always reminds me of the "fall" of years ago. And to this day. I always picture those wonderful maple leaves dancing away from the trees and the sound of them crushing as I walked. Timeless indeed.

  • John Williams with long hair to unleash his full musical potential!

  • 21 people are out of their mind, or they're just justin bieber's fans, wandering on youtube instead of doing their homework ...

  • Melifluo, muy evocador.

  • best guitar duet ever

  • This is my ballet dance!!!!

  • Classical Guitar Gods.

  • @eryxbulalas worship them and give them thanks. Also, give thanks to whoever it was that introduced them to you. Without that person, you'd be limited to Katy Perry :x

  • drifting, flowing floating sinking clean downstream with the Bream Dream Team

  • joder que arte.

  • Do anyone know where can i found this partitures.

Bravo a John Williams, is not the first time that anyone says he's such a greatest guitarrist, amazing intepretation as the Usher Waltz

  • @ancitobrian

I'm afraid that you can't get access to this partitures for free, because the copyright has not yet expired.

You might be able to buy them.

    good luck. :)

  • I can always get inspired by these two, and any permutation thereof.

  • Does anyone know what film this is taken from?

  • @jschmidty

This extract is taken from the DVD "Julian Bream My Life in Music". Issued by AVIE. Number AV2109. I bought my copy a couple of years ago. It might still be available. Good luck.

  • match made in heaven

  • probably the finest guitar duet ever recorded

  • wow thats awesome, lovin it, go boys!!

  • merci !

  • I love it!

  • Juliam Bream, your play is scintillating...but get rid of that combover!!! :P :P :P

  • If you listen closely to this video (particularly with headphones), you will hear birds trying to join in. A phenomena I've noticed when I try to play outdoors. Don't know how exactly it was recorded, but the evidence seems to indicate it was recorded outdoors.

  • @kayj80 Sorry to be a wise ass, but the video makes it quite clear that it was recorded outdoors :P

  • @kayj80 I think this is just video made after the in door recording(with added bird bonus)

  • @kayj80 I've had the exact same thing, some of the birds are really good time-keeprs.

  • My favorite duet piece by my two favorite players. What more can a guy ask for? And I'm the kind of guy that would find a buddy and play a dance song in the middle of a park!

Leo Brouwer(1939- ):Concerto da Requiem, in Memoriam T.Takemitsu II (dedicated to Shin-ichi Fukuda,2005-6) *Asian Premiere /Taiwan

    Saludos

  • This is really great performance by both the legends. i don't have words to comment on their expression while performing. Beautiful! Awesome!

  • Julian Bream and John Williams are playing Romanillos and Fleta... Too good to be true :P

  • It is simply beautiful. A marvelous piece played with heart and perfection.

  • because these are two guitar legends

  • i guess all of don t know anything about guitars

  • Of course they recorded it in a studio. No music video is recorded live.

Bream is playing a lute guitar. He is the most famous Lutist of the 20th century...

  • Most of the time I was just thinking "are there really just two guitars playing?"

  • Eccellente versatilità...

    Grazie

  • it just doesnot get any better julian bream and john williams playing opulently and brilliantly lavish together on you tube...tony amore classical guirista and artist of RENAISSANCE MASTERS!!!!!!!!!

  • This piece was written by Manuel De Falla, not Ashma Koupulos and Kai Liza.

  • Lovely, but who really gets a buddy and plays a dance song... to no dancers in a field? xD

  • @ whitejac292 If me and my buddy could play like that there'd be no stopping us, dancers or not! :-)

  • @whitejac292 yeah no chit. i agree. they at least could have had some nice lookin chichimamas dancin!!

  • @whitejac292

LOL!! It does sound great though ;)

  • @whitejac292 Musicians. Only musicians.

  • @whitejac292 sounds like aa good friday evening to me

  • Masterclass!

  • Brilliant performance.

This video can serve the student guitarist in observing the classical Right Hand close-up, using both the rest and free strokes.

It is also a worthwhile comparison of a spruce (lighter wood) to a cedar (more orange colored) top of a guitar. These are the two main types of wood used for a classical guitar and have different tonal characteristics.

  • bravooo

  • Free Translation>: riffacker: "Very good song. But the duo is a mediocre du, in my opinion. One of the best duos in the world, in my opinion, is the "greek" duo with Ashma Koupulos and Kai Liza. They wrote (famous) songs for dual guitars. This song in particular, was one of the ones that they wrote, which Segovia liked." P.S. - (But Julian bream still Kicks ASS!!!)

  • very good duo bad in my opinio the best duo of guitars in the world is the greek ashmakopoulos kai liza they xrote a huge songs for two guitar and they was onu this duo which segovia liked

  • @ riffacker Your comment doesn't make any sense.

  • @riffacker cant find these people anywhere

  • Julian Bream And John Williams, I don't know to say to both of them...because they all few of the greatest guitarist ever lived in this earth..

  • Julian Bream and John Williams the best guitar duo, ever!

  • i'm more suprised that anyone is giving the time of day to someone called supernazi!!!!

    great music tho

  • epic

  • I've been practicing the classical guitar for 2 months and I love it. I cannot wait until I am older so I will be able to play this!

  • you dont need to wait until then...it`s an easy peice...you can play it with one giuitar if u try a bit..........

  • yeah.. sure..

you're not going to play like those two, though ;)

  • i agree . they r too good.

  • Is John Playing his Fleta here? Looks like it...

  • I heard a bit of Rimsky Korsakoff's 'Sheherezade' in there.

  • This is pure joy

  • Those lucky one having heard the same by Abreu brother's, on stage or recording have heard the music by Falla

  • does anyone have the sheet music for this? if so can you tell me where to get it?

  • The Emilio Pujol transcription for two guitars was published by Max Eschig Editions, number # M.E. 6950

    Dimitrios

  • John Williams n' Julian Bream just amazing

  • There are no words...Simply AMAZING!!

  • Dear god. I thought Ocean by John Butler was hard but well..

I just happen to find this.

  • i think it is..hes playing nails against steel strings...thats veeery stressful...haha and this piece its not that difficult..it just sounds like it because there counterpoints between the two guitars that sound crazy

  • Haha are you kidding me? This piece is EXTREAMLY much more difficult to play then some jhon butler crap. If you dont understand that then your probobly dont play this kind of music yourself :)

  • I would'nt be commenting on the piece if I didnt know how to play it. Of course i play the piece, its not that difficult like I said. Who the hell is John Butler?

  • Juddging from that you said as an answer to willbur (When he talked about john butler) "i think it is..hes playing nails against steel strings...thats veeery stressful... ", i would think you do know who John Butler is? And okey, you say this piece is easy, is it easyer than som john butler crap song you think? Maybe easy for you then. But i happend to think classical guitar music is the hardest to play(good) on guitar. its som much nuances, colours and timing you have to nail to get it good.

  • yeah i know, i realized who john butler was after, sorry i am forgetfull. Well I dont really play classical, I play flamenco guitar. And the technique for that is really hard. But maybe I say John Butler is harder because Ive never played his style.

  • Allright mate. I just have a really hard time to think that there is anything thats harder to play on guitar, then classical music is. Then of course there is easyer and harder pieces, but in the big picture. Its so complex, both techniqualy and all the smal nuances, colours and timing ans so on. Its so much going on. But even techniqualy i think the hardest classical pieces is probobly the hardest to play compared to any other style to. But, aah fuck it, its not even important really :)

  • its just an opinion, your taking this too seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • whatever, say all you want i still think flamenco is harder than classical.

  • hahaha

  • @xsupernazix

hmmm, but you have to play counterpoint on Classical guitar...

Also epic pieces like Britten's Nocturnal, Brouwer's El Decameron Negro have a much more complex sructure to get your head around.

From the point of view of flourishes of notes, I would agree that Flamenco can sound more impressive, in the way rock guitar can sound impressive with use of scales etc.

Interesting debate, lucky we can have both in this life :)

  • You are right!

And i was thinking, it's not like the category "Classical" has only one type of piece..they all range in difficulty just as Flamenco does the same. You cannot really compare the two when speaking of difficulty. But since I find flamenco more exiting, because it is generaly a tad more energetic than classical guitar.

  • Good stuff, enough said!

Perfecto

  • two of my favorite classical guitarist!! wow thanx for posting!!

  • formidable

  • Is this avalible on cd?

  • Of course... I never knew it was a vid :D

  • that was just beautiful!

  • god, you're the next organman aren't you?

  • Bream's got one... and he's one of the best... he played it for Stravinski for chrissake.

And he uses his nails on it.

  • Really nice... :-)

  • listen to the version of this on Manuel

Barrueco and Franco Platino's new duo CD...a bit faster than this, and SCARY

  • It can be better than that?...

  • I doubt it.

  • Yes. Played by Paco de Lucía.

  • mbcrra. Heat to disagree but Paco's version is not even close. The musicianship, tempo, colors of sound are way beyond what Paco normally does. Julian and John's version is just marvelous!

  • I had never seen these two vertuosos play together: what incredible technique which the camera captured magnificently!

    Bravo!!

  • If you like de Falla, check his opera LA VIDA BREVE + 50 other operas by 50 other composers in my play list 20th CENTURY OPERA ( including the world premiere of ARIA DEL CIRUJANO from Opera Opus Operatorum by Roberto Rius & Pedro Ipuche Riva )

20th CENTURY OPERA : the MOST VIEWED and MOST COMPLETE last century opera playlist in YOU TUBE !

  • Pre-recorded song over video. I bought a couple of Bream's videos and it's the same thing: various imagery with him 'playing' over pre-recorded versions. The problem is, that defeats the purpose of the video: you want to both watch and hear him play.

    Why do this?

  • Are you referring to Guitarra!: A Musical Journey through Spain? Those were TV episodes put together on 1 DVD to show the history of Spain and the guitar. So my guess is they want to show the scenic footage of Spain while also playing the music. The audio of him playing in a field or on a boat on the river would sound horrible. Plus the Guitarra series seemed to be aimed toward the general audience rather than the typical guitarist.

  • It is great.

A real contrast in rh technique too.

Bream just seems to play his rest strokes at a blistering pace with straight fingers. Williams almost claw-handed. I appreciate they are playing totally different parts...but still, Bream is amazingly consistent.

  • Well everybody uses thier own preferance of hand techniques, John Williams uses more often a Freestroke.

  • Realmente hermoso!!!!!

  • What a great duo of great guitarist's

  • Wonderful, gives me chills!

  • They are amazing!

    beautiful

  • You cannot know until you try :)

  • no, he's right :P ...two best classical guitarists on the planet

  • beautiful

  • Wow! great!

  • Stunning! Some of the best Spanish guitar playing since the great Andres Segovia!

    Bravo! Bravo!

  • is that actually julian Bream or is it Manuel De Falla

  • Bream

  • the greatest guitarists of the 20th century

  • Christopher Parkening. Student of Andres Segovia, considered by some to have taken the place of Segovia as the leading guitarist of the world. I am pleased with these as well though. :)

  • yes mr parkening is an accomplished guitarist

  • i finally found my music stile, this is what i'm trying to play but never known what it is

    CLASSIC

  • try "baroque" style music. :)

  • sounds recorded

  • Totally agree. It would be good to have a side by side comparison, live performance example of Parkening/Brandon's live performance vs Bream/Willams.

Haven't done enough searching yet to see if there is a live version of B/W

  • Search JULIAN BREAM AND JOHN WILLIAMS IN A LIVE BROADCAST, Its the same song

  • you can't get better then this... i love how even thought it's obviously recorded in a studio they are outside and everything matches up haha... great video

  • EXCELLENT!! THIS IS MUSIC! Also on violin this sounds amazing....

  • the gods of modern classical guitar, very cool!

  • Guys how bout this one .why not just practice your instrument instead of complain ...this is a result of mastery over your instrument ....you cant achieve decency by complaining ...it takes work .Take it from someone who is studying college level music and classical guitar I am busting my ass so much but its so worth it .

  • i played this on the violin...so awesome.

  • :))))

  • D: I can't watch them, it makes me feel horrible! How can anyone confidently pick up the guitar after they have played?

  • lol

  • i know exactly what you mean, but as john williams said, he hates nothing more than for people to see them and cringe away from playing

  • I can understand that. I'll continue to play crap, and have fun doing it. Even playing the amazingly simple bits that I do, it's very fun. Still, it hurts to know that I will probably never be that good. We can't all be them, I guess :)

  • he yah dude, i totally know what you're talkin about... i'm studying to be a classical guitarist for god sakes. I look at julian bream and I just think, "I'm supposed to get better than that!?" haha
