this song has haunted me in life in a spectacular way as I approached All Hallow's Eve. This beautiful movement transposed to nylon strings will always reminds me of the "fall" of years ago.
there's no way they were playing that. its a fake. it sounds like it was recorded inside. also thats a prop guitar its got too many strings. they thought i wouldnt notice.

Haha are you kidding me? This piece is EXTREAMLY much more difficult to play then some jhon butler crap. If you dont understand that then your probobly dont play this kind of music yourself :)
I would'nt be commenting on the piece if I didnt know how to play it. Of course i play the piece, its not that difficult like I said. Who the hell is John Butler?
Juddging from that you said as an answer to willbur (When he talked about john butler) "i think it is..hes playing nails against steel strings...thats veeery stressful... ", i would think you do know who John Butler is? And okey, you say this piece is easy, is it easyer than som john butler crap song you think? Maybe easy for you then. But i happend to think classical guitar music is the hardest to play(good) on guitar. its som much nuances, colours and timing you have to nail to get it good.
yeah i know, i realized who john butler was after, sorry i am forgetfull. Well I dont really play classical, I play flamenco guitar. And the technique for that is really hard. But maybe I say John Butler is harder because Ive never played his style.
Allright mate. I just have a really hard time to think that there is anything thats harder to play on guitar, then classical music is. Then of course there is easyer and harder pieces, but in the big picture. Its so complex, both techniqualy and all the smal nuances, colours and timing ans so on. Its so much going on. But even techniqualy i think the hardest classical pieces is probobly the hardest to play compared to any other style to. But, aah fuck it, its not even important really :)
hmmm, but you have to play counterpoint on Classical guitar...
Also epic pieces like Britten's Nocturnal, Brouwer's El Decameron Negro have a much more complex sructure to get your head around.
From the point of view of flourishes of notes, I would agree that Flamenco can sound more impressive, in the way rock guitar can sound impressive with use of scales etc.
Interesting debate, lucky we can have both in this life :)
And i was thinking, it's not like the category "Classical" has only one type of piece..they all range in difficulty just as Flamenco does the same. You cannot really compare the two when speaking of difficulty. But since I find flamenco more exiting, because it is generaly a tad more energetic than classical guitar.
mbcrra. Heat to disagree but Paco's version is not even close. The musicianship, tempo, colors of sound are way beyond what Paco normally does. Julian and John's version is just marvelous!

Are you referring to Guitarra!: A Musical Journey through Spain? Those were TV episodes put together on 1 DVD to show the history of Spain and the guitar. So my guess is they want to show the scenic footage of Spain while also playing the music. The audio of him playing in a field or on a boat on the river would sound horrible. Plus the Guitarra series seemed to be aimed toward the general audience rather than the typical guitarist.
Bream just seems to play his rest strokes at a blistering pace with straight fingers. Williams almost claw-handed. I appreciate they are playing totally different parts...but still, Bream is amazingly consistent.
Christopher Parkening. Student of Andres Segovia, considered by some to have taken the place of Segovia as the leading guitarist of the world. I am pleased with these as well though. :)
you can't get better then this... i love how even thought it's obviously recorded in a studio they are outside and everything matches up haha... great video
Guys how bout this one .why not just practice your instrument instead of complain ...this is a result of mastery over your instrument ....you cant achieve decency by complaining ...it takes work .Take it from someone who is studying college level music and classical guitar I am busting my ass so much but its so worth it .
I can understand that. I'll continue to play crap, and have fun doing it. Even playing the amazingly simple bits that I do, it's very fun. Still, it hurts to know that I will probably never be that good. We can't all be them, I guess :)
he yah dude, i totally know what you're talkin about... i'm studying to be a classical guitarist for god sakes. I look at julian bream and I just think, "I'm supposed to get better than that!?" haha

Totally agree. It would be good to have a side by side comparison, live performance example of Parkening/Brandon's live performance vs Bream/Willams.
Haven't done enough searching yet to see if there is a live version of B/W

Guys how bout this one .why not just practice your instrument instead of complain ...this is a result of mastery over your instrument ....you cant achieve decency by complaining ...it takes work .Take it from someone who is studying college level music and classical guitar I am busting my ass so much but its so worth it .

D: I can't watch them, it makes me feel horrible! How can anyone confidently pick up the guitar after they have played?

i know exactly what you mean, but as john williams said, he hates nothing more than for people to see them and cringe away from playing
