  • i think u r the one with all the answers. can you show how to make my master loud like everyone else else. thnks in advance

  • @abdulsound Well......

I have such a long answer to this question, but I need to ask you a question first....

    Does loud = good?

Just curious. I've heard a lot of good music get destroyed because it had to become loud.

  • @SFLogicNinja ..loud is good without distortion. the reason is every time i play my song, i have to turn the volume all the way up to hear it. but when i play somebody else CD, i would put the volume in the middle to get the same volume. i hope that answers ur question.

  • nice one man, awesome tut

  • is the same for the voice? :O

  • I know im late but I JUST upgraded to a a Mac and going from Logic 5 to 9. (I will give you all a moment to stop laughin) Anyway, I'm really enjoying the informative post and wish you were in Tampa Bay. I'd be at your house everyday plugged in like Neo for this stuff. Thanks & take Care.

  • Great Video! Thank you!

  • Hi, just started to watch your vids, and they are amazing!! I also just heard a stutter thing on the vocals for this /watch?v=C5P2r9A4fLc song (1:44-1:47) and i cant figure it out! :( can you help me SFLogicNinja?

  • These 2 stutter tutorials changed my life I use this on everything! drums, percussion, vocals, school tests, girlfriends...

  • just wanted to say thanks for these videos. I'm taking a music tech/ midi sequencing course at my university, but we don't really touch on stuff like this.

  • Woah, This sounds exactly like parts of Linkin Park. Awesome.

  • cool

  • Long live DNB

  • Try the Effectrix plug-in...way easier and a lot faster to set up

  • another awesome tutorial

  • aphex twin effect?

  • Reminds me of the dblue glitch plugin but I think your way is better. It seems that you would have alot more control over what is happening with every thing. Again

thanks for the video you rule

  • can you make such a tutorial with vocals?

  • I was actually looking for a plugin to do stuff like this... but it´s definetly FUN to cut & paste! Thanks for the inspiration ;)

  • Stupid question: how do you open the general tool palette?

  • Just found your channel; thanks for your generous help! I am slappin' you a big E. Bay high 5 from El Cerrito. Cheers

  • THX and 5*.

  • 3 words................ bad man, inspiring.

  • You are ridiculous. Educational AND Inspiring!

  • If you don't sell dvds of this, then you should contact logic and tell them that you are the man to do this!

  • Technically, he should contact Apple, as Logic is just the software.

    To Mr. Ninja:

    You are a Logic god.

  • i jus found you 2day!!!!!!! Look everyone i Found a Genius,,,,,Pure Genius!!!!! love,,,peace,,,,,and cooking grease.......

  • The Earl of Logic strikes again!

Damn dude manual time stretching huh? That is so Fing sick. I use samplers but this looks like you can just control everything to a T. Your videos have shown me how truly powerful Logic is. Please keep making them.

Thanks Ninja, your videos are unparalleled.

    -Joe

  • Thank you!

  • Well done. Wish you were a pro tools user. Quick question, as you know a wave is both compression and rarefaction, well have you ever seen a wave with dc offset? I have never seen any and would really like to see and hear one. Also do you know how I would create one?

  • I made one a while ago... It was totally by accident. I'm not sure it's a great idea to never let your transducers come to their resting point... I am a fan of the antinode.

  • can you do this stutter for vocal audio too?id imagine you can since there isnt a difference between file types

  • Great, professional video. Thank you.

  • probably the most informative logic vid i've seen, thanks ninja

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmm

all very basic stuff i think!

  • great stuff!

  • quick question: do u always do this manually or do u use a program? can u suggest a good program?

  • this stuff always sounds better done manually with obsessive attention to detail.

I will say that while I use both Logic and Live, pretty much all of this can be done in Live faster...

  • really? i have live & ive never really used it. Maybe i should explore it alittle more...

  • splitting, reversing, time stretching are all easier in Live.

I do prefer the vintage time stretch sound of Logic's pitch/time when I'm going for an obvious effect however.

  • Live is a fantastic tool as well.

I just can't use it for everything. Great program, tho.

Your program should always be in sync with your creative and workflow philosophy, regardless of company.

  • I'm not sure why my comments aren't showing up as replies, so they are appearing somewhat out of context, but Logic is really great in a lot of ways but audio editing is a task I find excruciatingly difficult compared to Live or a dedicated editor like Audacity or Wave Editor or DSP Quattro.

Personally, I prefer to rewire Live to Logic and use Live for cutting up breaks and Logic for almost everything else.

  • Convinced me! Time to install...

  • Apfapfapf, you're not going to get much of this kind of editing done in Audacity. Don't get me wrong, I love the program for basic bare bones corrections of certain stuff, but for anything really involved, you're going to want Pro Tools or something like it.

  • I agree, both pro tools and logic are equally as powerful. I am a pro tools user. Pro tools 8 is bad ass.

  • i thank you for never letting me sleep, my girlfriend thanks you for her never seeying me. PLEASE KEEP POSTING... i love this stuff more than my health... apparently.

  • LOL

  • Dave, you mention that you are more meticulous. What exactly do you do differently when you're being meticulous?

  • Mostly being more choosey in the beats I choose to mangle, and being more precise when it comes to identifying transients that I want to exploit, that's all.

    *bows*

  • can you post a video of the matrix effect on your voice!!! PPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE

  • Hey SFDaveLogicEarlNinja (whew). Once again gr8 stuff! Just from watching this episode I've leared how to chop samples in2 equal parts (via Part 1). 2 birds with 1 stone! That's what the WORLD is missing (LOL) ! But in altruism, thanx fam.

  • Very nice, David! I really like your tips'n'tricks - especially those about creating electronic music. Sweet!

    Keep goin'! :)

    All the best

    Thomas, Denmark

  • great one Dave! Thanks very much

  • dude ....THAAAANKS SO MUCH!

  • G-g-g-g-g-g-great!!!

  • legend leg-g-g-gend legend fuck will smith d-d-david is a legend

  • domo arigato sensei

  • Awesome awesome awesome

i've been trying to figure out how to do aphex twin type editing for drum & bass and couldn't get my head around it

  • thank you thank you thank you. i heard Bt was actually writing a book on the stutter edit, along with the binary acoustics software release , but who can wait for that?

  • BT is one of the most meticulous, organized, and generous people around right now. He has been an open book about his techniques and my videos are inspired by his attitude of altruism. He's DEFINITELY earned his rightful place in electronic music history, and I'd love to hang with him someday. I think he raised the production bar all the way around in the industry. He's also helped out struggling artists, some of them friends of mine, by featuring them on his albums. In a nutshell, BT Rocks.

  • Totally. The altruism is definitely a truism. (haha) I am a massive massive fan and have been for many years. Met him a couple of times too. His production techniques and dedication to the art have indeed been an inspiration for me and many I'm sure, not to mention his massive inspiration and help on a personal level..

    B to the mother f**king T!

  • Nice work, sir.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks Masta Ninja!

  • LEGEND!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing the techniques very helpful
