  • It's good, but I like the Willy Wonka version better. It's less repetitive.

Now if Sammy sang that version...

  • Teddy is the Candy Man. But don't tell anyone I told you so. That might cause a ruckus of sorts.

  • LEGEND.

  • The volume's only low if you're deaf. Yeah...take that...

  • I get so tired of the negative comments. I'm sure if the poster could have made the volume louder he/she would have. These clips are vintage and I'm just glad to be able to see them again. You gripe-y people need to find a copy and repost it yourselves if you have a problem. As for me, I say thanks to DetroitLives313

  • @annie37618 You are very welcome Annie and Happy Thanksgiving !

  • Wow! He has an amazing voice, and just loving the jacket! ! 1970's rules!!!! :)

  • CHOOMMP!!! mmm real... CHOOMMP!.real..mmm..good.

  • 25 years later, Alf Clausen adapted the song for a Simpsons episode, making it 'The Garbage Man', sung by Dan Castellaneta playing Homer Simpson.

  • This must've been from a "Flip Wilson" show.

  • My god I love this dude. Just listening to songs like this fills me with happiness.

  • Sammy looks like he can't wait for the song to finish. Soon as the last note hits, bam, it's "Thank you very much".

  • Sammy looks like a middle class pimp!

  • @ComicMaster2008 Those are the double knit clothes from the 70s! LOL

  • @ComicMaster2008 SAMMY WAS THE SHIZNIT !!!!!!

    THANK YOU !!!

  • my parents had the pleasure of seeing the rat pack way back in the day in vegas. my mom to this day still says sammy davis jr by far was the most talented and most entertaning out of the whole bunch. i have to agree.

  • I'm 13 I first heard this song at about 6:30 on the Christmas eve morning just gone, it woke me up to a snowy but sunny day I've liked this song since

  • I thank you, man, from the bottom of my candy coated heart. Stay groovy.

  • @TheSkaterboi69 ...-.-

y would u even bring that up...-.-

  • @TheSkaterboi69 no you ignorant fuck, why would they fucking be spraying him with a hose, take a history class and learn something the civil rights movement was over by then

  • Tommy Davdison should play him in a movie

  • Yeah, Michael Jacksons most influence in dancing! =)

  • i remember watching this with my gran and grandad happy days gone by........

  • wow my first sammy davis jr song and vid...he seems very professional...im definetly going to get into him more

  • theeeeee man

  • I love his Caddyshack jacket.

  • sammy was cool

  • i like more the malcolm in the middle version

  • @JiraiyaTsunade2873 No, that would not be possible. Why do you ask?

  • the true genius here is at the hands of anthony newley and leslie bricusse. amazing!

  • I like the old movie version and this one

  • WOW, nobody's thrown out the typical 'it's secretly about drugs' comment yet? Shocking. It's like people can't accept that just sang a song about a guy who happened to sell candy. It's about Willy Wonka, who did seem to sell candy. You can't really make a song out of 'the visionary international confectioner and entrepreneur can.'

  • @BFE1127 Well it was about drugs you have to remember it was the 70s so sammy davis would have been doing a load of drugs. The man was great though never went on stage drugged up or drunk or unprofessional.

  • Man I miss Sammy Davis Jr. he was a great entertainer.

  • samm y

  • love this song!

  • he was awesome!

  • @DetroitLives313 anytime :)

  • This world needs more people like Sammy Davis Jr!

  • @kitsundesu yessssssss we do :D

  • Sammy Davis Jr's manager was an asshole for not letting him appear in the film and do this song.. It would have been monumental

  • THE KFC MAN CAN! YOU NOT DOING IT RIGHT!

  • Love this guy! You're so missed Sammy.

  • i could listen 2 this all day :D

  • i love this song

  • I prefered the version from the movie. But I think they should've given Sammy the part of the candy store clerk.

  • @MondoBeno I agree, but according to the documentary I saw on the making of the movie, the director didn't want any 'known' faces in the movie because he felt it would "date" the movie too much.

  • @madtruth8 and do impress and play instruments and act :D

  • such a gud song :D

  • I didn't like the song...but Sammy was cool.

  • @cronosbray because sammy could sing dance act do impressions play instruments interview people he could do everything :D

  • one of the best entertainers ever

  • nobody could ever beat the way that this man sings this. nobody should even try, and hopefully no rapper will ever ruin this amazing song

  • people just dont realize sammy's talents and this was a different time, alot of people from this era re dead or like me were very young but conscious of things around them. Happy Song from a changing era, we didnt have microwave ovens, digital anything, remote controls, most cars didnt evenhave seat belts and were all metal inside.LOL!

  • That's got to be one of the happiest songs ever written!

  • @quirpco haven't you ever head Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"?

or for that matter, anything by Louis Armstrong!

  • Comment removed

  • @quirpco This song was rumoured to be about a guy who would sell Davis drugs. They called him the Candy Man.

  • @berezin99 It would be funny if that's true...being that they used the song in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory!

  • @berezin99 PLEASE COULD WE KEEP SOME RESPECT FOR THE MEN THAT MADE THE MUSIC IND. FULL OFF JOY HOPE & SOUL :; TRY AND FIND THREE MEN THAT CAN SET A BENCH MARK LIKE SAMMY FRANK & DEAN DID & STILL UNDER STAND WHAT THEY ARE SINGING ABOUT ,,,, LITTLE ALONE 30 + YEARS LATTER

  • @garry3137 true words man. these cats where amazing. the best we ever had and ever will have. i hope one day they will be cloned, i know that their musik will live for ever. same as them, heros live long, but legends live forever.
