Much respect to Jody Stecher who resurrected this tune in the early 70's. Jody reworked, rewrote parts and arranged it. The Garcia/Grisman version is Jody's arrangement. From the Garcia/Grisman version, the Songcatcher version was based. From there it went "viral" as they say and is now a standard. Check out Crooked Still's version.
This version is pure delight! (I just saw some comments. I hadn't even looked at the photos. I was listening.) I like Pete Seeger's outlook on music, but I have noticed that it doesn't seem to be working here. He feels that music brings people closer...and music can even make the peoples of the world closer. Hmmmm....I always believed him. Now I wonder. Thanks for this great, great version of this traditional song.
Really you can't talk sense into the rabid dog mentality of the extreeme right. EVERYTHING including just a cool song with some cute pictures is fodder for their sneering. This is no dreadful song as I am greatful I am not dead so I was able too witness these wonderful and awesome random pictures that made it so beautiful too all my sences! I hope I spelled that word for feeling and not money as it would sound strange talking about some thing I don't have! Take care, but pull out some more waits! That would make you even more awesome then you already are, but it would have too be with random pics!;)
