Drove from Sioux Falls SD to see these guys in Minneapolis when is was 18 and got lost downtown. By the time we got there, the band was done and there was a top 40 dance party going on. WTF! still pissed 15 years later!
Forever in the annals of the band that could do no wrong. We should all feel blessed. Grateful I was there, as it unfolded. Magic shit, almost the equiv. of next gen Zep. (fuck John 'sgonna kill me!) whatever, I call it the way I see it. -Be the ball. 517
These guys should have gotten the success that Smashing Pumpkins got. Walt Mink is better than Smashing Pumpkins, unfortunately, they fell into label abyss.
@zinovy08 ... considering that the Pumpkins were at just about at every show Walt Mink played in Chicago... they took a lot from them. your comment shows a lot of respect for a band that earned it. dig.
I like Red Edmund's cover of Walt Mink's Miss Happiness. The singers are VERY similar. And, oddly enough the vocal sound quality on both artists versions are kind of crappy. But I think Red Edmund's guitarist is really good and his falsetto is brilliant (on their album). Walt Mink is a rare gem though. So great.
This was from when John was still smoking pot. The slinkiness and interwovenness of the riffing, ahh, he ditched that later when what would sound like espresso became his drug of choice. Also their first drummer had far deeper and spacier groove than the later ones. This is of course pure speculation.
Nice video, very SC with the shots the film style and all that. A product of a once happy pairing (SC and Spike Jonze). Very 90's too. Good find, thanks for putting it up. Shame about the quality though, but what can you do. Least we get to see it.
I love Sofia.

anyone know what Leslie Hayman has became ? She's so cute, and on Google we can't find anything about here, except the virgin suicides...

Any news about Leslie? There is absolutely no online info about her ...

If Walk Mink ever wants to get back together for another reunion and needs a drummer... I'm soooo there.

Yeah! I hung out with them backstage once and they gave me and my band beer from their cooloer. They were Smashing Pumpkins main influence.
