  • Doesn't fetuses beyond 22 weeks have human rights i America?

    The mother can go fuck herself if she couldn't bother to get the abortion earlier!

    And the mothers life is at risk, why not a caesarian section??

    Give pregnant women more possibilities and support so they don't have to go to back alleys!

    It's not the matter of religion or who the body belong to!

    Fuck-tarded-homocide-supporters! (I'm all for abortion before 18 weeks of pregnancy)

  • I didn't have an abortion and I regret it!! why didn't someone talk me? No they don't want to hear stories about women that didn't have one and regret.

  • Pro-Lifers are nothing more than a bunch of Dictators who just love taking freedoms from other people.

  • @HowardSternn Oh indeed, pro-lifers want nothing more than to fill some void. Instead of helping people, they try to push them into their twisted way of belief, hell no one would have sex if they had things their way. To them I say, buy a vibrator, get off and shut up. HA!

  • @EternalxAutumn >Crushing baby skulls

    >Pro-lifers have a twisted way of belief

    Il just leave this here.

  • um.... it doesn't help you to make the right choice when you have no choice....

  • @thecatbehemoth You have a choice in their eyes,carry it to full term and put it up for adoption or give it to CPS.So that way adoptive parents have more to choose from,after all they are buying that

    fetus/child($10,000.00-$40,000.00 or more adoption fee).CPS gets 2.5 trillion dollars from state & federal funding,plus an extra $100,000.00 bonus from the government for each adoption that goes through. Is it really about the fetus or is it more along the lines of making money at our expense.

  • ANTI-CHOICE = SLAVERY

    PRO-CHOICE = FREEDOM

    FACT OF LIFE: EVERYBODY LOVES FREEDOM

    IT IS BEST TO HAVE FREEDOM OF CHOICE AND NOT NEED IT THEN TO NEED FREEDOM OF CHOICE AND NOT HAVE IT!

    FOR WOMENS FUTURE AND FOR FUTURE WOMEN KEEP AMERICA PRO-CHOICE!

  • @candiceevans1 says: dont want a baby dont let a guy stick hiw dick in you/

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~ well sweetie, why dont you make make yourslef the sex police and go door to door making sure everyone is having sex, or not having it, they way YOU wnat them to? That means "we" can do the same to you. deal?
  • @candiceevans1 says: , the moring after pill is fine with me
    ~~~~~~~~~~ Then take it, and leave other women to do what THEY CHOOSE!

  • @candiceevans1 says: the states should be deciding this issue and government shouldnt be involved

    ~~~~~~~ It will be state GOVERNMENT that IS involved in state sancction aboriton, idiot! AND, prolife knows it will be better off if R v W IS overturned because many states have already said, if it is.. they will have abortion anytome for anyone. Calif is one!
  • @candiceevans1 says: nothing in Constitutuion or bill of rights that mentiones abortion
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~ hahahaha, are you actually expecting them to list all the things the Constit, & bill o r's covers?? God, how do people let themselves be so damned ignorant! The Constitition is has ALWAYS been interpertated!!! There is NOTHING listed in it that covers any specific political issue. You moron!

  • So we still have the same old excuses being given for the 'necessity' for abotion. This is it in a nutshell: ugly women who can't 'keep a man' unless they let them have sex with them, are not sufficiently attractive for their boyfriend to be able to maintain an erection with a condom on, so he doesn't wear one. The women are desperate to keep 'their man' (loser, more like) and go on the pill (which provides no protection whatsoever against STDs). They then get pregnant 'by mistake'. Yeah right.

  • Women get pregnant "by accident" because they are trying to trap a man. OR, they are literally too stupid to remember to take the pill, once a day. Is that so difficult? Obviously it must be, if you haven't got the slightest regard for your own unborn child, which is a totally unnatural mindset to have. No other animal on earth has that sort of disregard for their own offspring.

  • @packoftwenty

    "No other animal on earth has that sort of disregard for their own offspring?"

    This is a joke, right?

    A lot of species will abandon , or even bite to death their offspring (after birth, I might add!) if they cannot feed or care for them, or dispose of certain weaker members of a litter to ensure the survival of the stronger ones. It's basically post-partum abortion of disabled or defective offspring (which is exactly like selective abortion...only you know, after birth).

  • @candiceevans1

    I think abortion is (should be) a universal human right: the right for women to be in control of their own body.

    As as you hear, late-term abortion specifically is done in cases where there is a significant medical risk to the woman or the fetus.

  • this woman unterviewed is sick,the potential life??????

    just admit its killing,and you condone killing

  • I must admit, that this is a sick debate. It is so sad to imagine a baby being aborted, but also sad thinking that someone's fullgrown baby having to die as well. You could consider taking away the mother's rights as "Post Birth Abortion", no?

    I think I just made a case.

  • Pro choice people want to have their supposed 'rights' and 'choice' and want any evidence contrary to their position swept right under the rug!!!

  • Kayelle: When we choose to stop the heart and cease the brain activity of an individual, we have chosen to kill them. You can rationalize all you want but when a mother's 'choice' is abortion, she has willfully decided to kill her baby, period.

  • She has willfully killed an embryo or a fetus..

  • Q: What would almost every pregnant woman say if, God forbid, a man knocked her to the ground and her unborn baby died? A: 'He killed my baby'!!! But many people such as yourself want to play the name game and deny the reality via rationalization and justification.

  • Because if a woman wanted a child, she's anthropomorphizing the fetus. She's started bonding with it and imagining it as a person. She would project human characteristics on it that do not yet exist, like people project human emotions on to say, cats or dogs.

    A woman who does not wan to be a mother, is not subjected to such bonding or anthropomorphizing of the fetus.

  • You are correct in that pro choice women will anthropomorphize based solely upon desire, not evidence. If they want the child, it's a baby! If they desire to kill it, it's not! At the time of abortion, you have a heartbeat, brain waves, a skeleton, mouth, ears, and nose, budding arms and legs and the child responds reflexively to stimulus. Hmmm, sounds like a human being to me! But if the woman doesn't want to be pregnant, it's not human?!? The height of rationalization and justification!!!

  • You've convinced me, truth. If a man hits a pregnant woman and she miscarries : It should not be a crime. Happy now? Fetuses are not babies, and I have no problem if they're NOT treated as such in all instances. At best one could be charged with inflicting emotional anguish to the woman carrying it/

  • Fetuses are not babies? Babies aren't toddlers, toddlers aren't teenagers, teenagers aren't adults.

    We go through stages.

  • The difference is,fetuses are not born, they physically need someone else's body to survive. Therefore it's at that person's discretion whether or not she allows the fetus to feed off and grown in her body. Simple. Once it's body is able of functioning on it's own, it's another matter.

  • So do infants and last time I check, most 4 year olds. They still aren't property.

  • And a woman is not property of the fetus. Your point?

  • No a women isn't a property of the fetus. Here's a solution-you seem to believe that there are cases where the mother hates the shit out ofer her child. All well and fine. wait 9 months and give the unwanted little bugger up to adoption. Better then being raised up in some cold death heartless home isn't it? Also better than being killed by your mother.

  • It's still in YOUR BODY, against your will for 9 months, doing whatever damage it does to your body, your financial status, your social status etc (for example, try finding a job when pregnant!). It's the most severe breach of your bodily integrity, right next to rape. It's entirely unacceptable!

  • It's a Allah given, biological process.

    What is so hard to understand about that?

  • There is no proof of Allah, God, Yahweh, Zeus or any of the like... not everyone follows religious teachings, not everyone cares what your particular holy book says about abortion. What's so hard to understand about that?

    Furthermore, human have been tweaking biology for centuries. If we can control the way we grow our crops, it makes sense we also control our fertility.

  • @Kayelle1980 "It" is still in your body? You're insane. "right next to rape"...

    So tell me, how come so many women are getting pregnant "by accident" every year? Are they sto stupid that they can't remember to take a pill once a day? Or is it that they are so pathetically desperate to 'get a man', that they will sleep with scumbags who won't wear condoms? Or CAN'T maintain an erection with a condom on, more like.

    "I got pregnant by accident" they say... sure...

  • @packoftwenty

    Several reasons actually. One being lack of education, especially in young girls, who surprisingly still believe in myth like "you can't get pregnant the first time". Also, no, I repeat NO form of contraception is a hundred percent safe. Condoms slip/break. IUD's can get dislodged. 1 in every 1000 women will get pregnant despite taking the pill CORRECTLY. Some medications lessen the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives... LOTS of reasons

  • @Kayelle1980 "Lack of education". Of course, that would be it! NOBODY believes the 'myth' that "you can't get pregnant the first time", so why are you using ANECDOTAL bullshit to try to back up your point?

    How do you know that 1 in 1,000 women get pregnant "despite taking the pill CORRECTLY"? This is all based on ANECDOTAL evidence, and these women who 'get pregnant by mistake' have every reason to LIE, as they'd look like the idiots they are otherwise...

  • @packoftwenty

    No, it's not anecdotal. Depending on the type of contraceptive, the effectiveness is about between 97 and 98 percent. Normally this is clearly stated on the box or the leaflet. I really suggest you start reading the warning on your medication. I'd post a link, but youtube will not let me.

    as for myths about conception: Have you talked to 14-year olds lately? Some of them don't even know what "ovulation" means, even though they're menstruating (and maybe having sex)

  • @packoftwenty

    (Continued). I personally know two women who got pregnant ON contraceptives and it wasn't to "oops" a man.

    Besides, what you say makes no sense.

    If a woman gets pregnant to guilt trip a man into marriage, or child support, she has every reason NOT to abort (because aborting would let the man off the hook in that sense)

    So these are two groups of women that are pretty much completely unrelated to each other.

  • @Kayelle1980 Nice try, you have no evidence. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence. Why weren't those women's boyfriends using condoms? Gee... I can't imagine...

    Women get pregnant 'by mistake' to trick a man into marriage/staying with them, then when he leaves them, THEN they want to kill their baby.

    Condoms do not slip, and do not break - this is all ANECDOTAL evidence, based on hearsay - i.e. douchebags who can't maintain erections with condoms on, LIE, and say 'the condom broke'...

  • Comment removed

  • @packoftwenty

    And you have absolutely no evidence that these women were trying to entrap men...while the fact that it was a simple accident is much more likely. You're just saying whatever comes up first, with the sole reason of of making women look bad.

    Condoms DO slip, the DO break - It happened to ME, I assure you it's not anecdotal. You are WILLFULLY spreading INCORRECT information. Go out, buty some condoms and read the accompanying leaflet..it clearly states NO contraception is 100% safe

  • @packoftwenty

    here are some stats for you, dear:

    Highly Effective Methods:

    The ParaGard IUD (Copper T 380A) , the Mirena IUD, Implanon, Depo Provera Injections, Tubal Ligation, and Vasectomy tend to be the most highly effective methods of birth control. * These all have typical user rates of 97 to 99 percent * This means that out of 100 people who use these methods for a year, 3 or less will become pregnant

  • @packoftwenty

    Methods with High Effectiveness Rates:

    Birth control pills (both combination and progestin-only) and other prescription options such as The Patch and The NuvaRing tend to have a high typical user success rates of around 92 percent. * This means that out of 100 women who use one of these methods for a year, 8 will become pregnant

    --> Oh, the failure rate is actually HIGHER than I stated for just the pill. My apologies

  • @packoftwenty

    Barrier methods, which include the male condom, female condom, diaphragm, spermicide, the cervical cap, and the sponge (for those who have not given birth) also yield fair typical user success rates between 71 to 85 percent. * Of every 100 people who use one of these barrier methods for a year, 15 to 29 will have an unintended pregnancy

    ***

    Now go educate yourself. And until that time, stop spreading unfounded lies. Your arguments are just pathetic.

  • @packoftwenty LOL Condoms don't break?. Where did you read that bullshit?. Condoms do indeed break, at the rate of 1 out of every 10.. . Read up noob sauce

  • @packoftwenty says: So tell me, how come so many women are getting pregnant "by accident" every year?

    ~~~~~~~ What do you care?
  • Not to mention, adoptive children tend to look for their parents. So 15 years down the line, you have the "unwanted bugger" standing on your doorstep. Which is also entirely unacceptable.
  • Anthropomorphizing the fetus? REALLY?
    I suppose a little something that doesn't look so cute isn't human.
    The world does not work like that. We don't kill people based on appearence or how many limbs they have.
  • Brain activity? What brain activity? In the first trimester, when most abortions are carried out, there is no brain activity. That doesn't start until after about 20 weeks!
  • First of all, your data is flawed. Secondly, after all the information I posted to you, is this the only thing you can attempt to refute?
  • I find the lack of brain activity to be rather important in the matter. Because people with no brain activity are brain dead, i.e. medially dead.
  • Biologically, and embryo is a human. Your views are subjective not objective. We look to science for answers when it comes to the law.
  • And for the record, I'm not great fan of late-term abortions. The problem is, if you ban them, you also ban those for medical reasons, and we all know it's a foot in the door for people who wish to ban abortion entirely.
  • The unborn child is relying upon her mother to BE a mother and NOT a murderer!!!
  • It barely has a brain, it's not relying on anything. And a pregnant woman is NOT yet a mother.
  • not what is wrong with "informed concent"?? why not let women know exactly what they are doing and give them a chance to think over if this is really what she wants to do this? im not prolife but women should be given full information concerning what she is about to do and the regret she may have after making a decision she cannot change.
  • I agree that she should be given all information.
    But to be fair, the opposite is also true. A woman who becomes a mother, and regrets it, can ALSO not change her decision.
  • i'm so thankful for all the smart people in the world that help me understand why crushing a viable child's skull inside the womb is a sacred choice of woman and not the thoughtless barbarism of a selfish society.
  • Well, let me speak for the "smart people" and apologize for believing that a woman's rights are more important than a multicellular organism.
  • why do you use the term "multicellular organism". You should call it a baby, so that it doesn't skew the debate. We are discussing the womans right to murder a baby that is 90% born and will in no way hurt her to continue the birthing process.
  • What we are talking about doesn't even come close to resembling a baby.
  • Based upon what standard? At what stage in the development? So if something outwardly resembles something, that is your qualification? Not genetic makeup?Not development?
  • Genetic makeup is useless to me. So what if its nucleotides are arranged in a certain way? Now it's more valuable than a woman? And of course women regret abortions. The grass is always greener on the other side. In addition to that, the small minority of women who regret their abortions speak much louder than the mass majority of women who don't.
  • Hmm, I don't know how you get to 90 percent born?
    And it IS a multicellular organism. more specifically it's a zygote (conception) embryo (up to 2 month) and fetus (2nd & 3rd trimester). those are in fact the correct medical terms. They arte not yet in a stage of development to be called a baby. In fact it's people who call it a baby that are skewing the debate.
  • I am curious at what stage you would consider the zygote, embryo, or fetus a human? When is it appropriate to call this "thing" a baby. In the first trimester is it not a human baby? Does it's limited size and development make it something else? Does it have the potential to grow into a puppy or a kitten? No. It is human. Therefore it is a human baby.I could just as accuse you of skewing the facts by calling this baby something other than what it is to dilute the reality of what is occurring.
  • It's a baby when it's born, simple as that.
  • It is a human life at conception. Simple as that. And it is not disrespectful to compare the holocaust to abortion. All these lives that have died from both tragedies are resting in peace.
  • what about a day before?
    I'm sorry but your not making any sense.
    As an embryo you have 46 crhomosomes and your dna is seperate from either parent. Therefore you are a seperate entity. Parasites are still living even though they are parasites.
  • A fetus a day before delivery date is viable.
    a two month old embryo is not.
    what's so difficult about that?
  • A newborn is as viable as a fetus.
    Both won't survive unless you feed them.
    what's so difficult about that?
  • No, a fetus is not viable unless if has a feeds off the mother, or if it's over 5 months.
    A baby can feed, breathe, and generally survive as an independent life form.
    Yes, of course you need to feed a baby. But here's the thing: it's not physically dependant on the mother. Hell, it does not need the -mother- at all : it can be fed and cared for by any willing adult.
    Now, unless we get artificial womb or the ability to transplant embryo's and fetuses, the comparison doesn't add up.
  • Parasites are still defined as living. It's not up to you to change reality. We use science.
  • Right, and I never said a fetus was not *alive*.
    I'm saying it is, however, neither sentient nor a human being or person yet. And it's "rights" do not precede the rights of the woman who's body it inhabits.
  • Well why don't you just decide people with down syndrome lack rights? Life's a lot easier innit? Unfortunately you do not have the right to "kill" the problem.
  • People with Down Syndrome that are born are viable., and no, shouldn't be put in front of a fireing squad, as your amount of dramatism would suggest.
    However, I think every potential parent should have the right to decide wether they want the burden of raising a mentally disabled child or not BEFORE they are viable.
    You might do it. I wouldn't. Deal with it.
  • I don't think I should have to deal with your existence in this world. It's kind of annoying. I think I should kil you right(sarcasm)?
    You might want to live. I don't. Deal with it.
  • Guess what? People like me do get killed. See also: attacks on abortion clinics. So your sarcasm in this case is only half-funny.
  • BURDEN! honestly
  • What else do you call something that requires you to to take care of it 24/7 and that sucks up a significant part of your pay check and all of your free time.. It's all fine and well if you want a child and are willing to sacrifice for it, but if you don't want it, then it's another matter entirely...
  • You calling a human baby something other than what it is is no different than Hitler not calling the Holocaust " the systematic, brutal murder of all people of Jewish heritage that we can capture", and instead calling it the "Final Solution", to sort of sterilize it. Calling something different doesn't change what it is, and you calling a baby something different doesn't change what it is.
  • Oh, please, don't you dare come with the Holocaust comparison. it just made me lose all respect for your arguments. No matter how much you might want it to be, abortion is not genocide. It's a woman's personal choice.Now if a dictator would be rounding up all pregnant black women, and stab them in the stomach, make this argument again. To even utter it is a complete sign of ignorance. To compare it is entirely disrespectful to the living, breathing, sentient people who died in the camps.
  • 1.I couldn't care less whether you respect .The moment that you defend the murder of a child,you lose all my respect.2.Read Margarette Sanger's writings.She is the founder of Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of abortions.She was a eugenicist, and her plan was to eradicate the black population by putting her Planned Parenthoods in black areas, and it's working! More abortions occur in inner-city ghettos than anywhere else. Again,you calling it a "woman's choice" doesn't change what it is.
  • larrywalkerntbi: You are absolutely correct in your correlation between the Holocaust and the terms used to falsely describe and 'dumb down' the reality of abortion. This is one of the main reasons why so many pro choice women immediately become pro life, upon hearing their baby's heartbeat and seeing it on ultrasound. They were guided by false terminology to believe in lies, just as many believed in Hitler's carefully crafted language regarding the Holocaust.
  • "It is only if human life is respected from conception to death that the ethics of peace is also possible and credible," concluded the Pope. "It is only then that non-violence can express itself in every direction; only then that we truly welcome creation, and only then that we can arrive at true justice." Pope Benedict XVI
  • hey dance i think the same way!
  • Ms Greenhouse blatantly lies, Abortion is not the number one surgical procedure in the US, appendectomy is. It isn't even in the top 20.
  • So let me get this straight, if you murder a very bad person, you go to jail but if you murder an innocent baby, it's all good. Oh, okay that makes sense now. For a second there I thought that might be a little unfair! Silly me...
  • CORRECT--it took me this long to consult with all the right busy body elitist egg heads, but you got it. also,
  • All jokes aside;men and women, religous people and non religous people need to come together and talk "not agrue" just talk about where we want to direct our society. yes abortions are not ideal; this i gather from both sides of the argument, but there is a strong sense of indeference toward and an unbelievable lack of support for pregnant women especially uderprivileged ones and children in general. seems like we are really dropping the ball when it comes to our children;in so many ways.
  • 2nd um theres an issue that alot of people are over looking. if abortion remains legal what is sure to follow and actually im shocked doesnt already exist will be some law defending a mans right to "abort" parental and financial responsibility for babies they never wanted. ATTENTION ALL BABY DADDIES YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS ARE BEING INFRINGED UPON!!!
  • ok, if baby daddies rights are being infringed, common sense says when man+woman+bed= baby. its a major DUH, wake up america. and the sumpreme court is not realy allowed to make laws on abortion because the constioun does not state anything about arbortion. it is states right to decide thir own arbortion laws. the suprme court is to rule on the constioun.
  • 1st im against abortions because its the killing of unborn babies !!!! i must say i dont look down on any woman that have had an abortion because all have sin. i and the rest of mankind are in no position to judge.
  • Inside the womb the baby is just as much alive as the the day he or she is born. The pregnant woman should not be given the authority to kill her baby. During pregnancy there are 2 separate lives each unique and having a soul. The vulnerability of the baby's life should be protected not be subject to a "choice" that by nature a woman was not given. As human beings we have the instinct of survival, hopefully mothers will instinctively protect the lives that cannot yet protect themselves.
  • HEY! Having abortionist stab a women's live baby's neck, sever cortex, & suck brains out, NEVER HURTS A WOMAN BY GOLLY! NO woman is ever "hurt" by THAT!!! A ragged Yale Prof. is DEEPLY TROUBLED HERE 4 women's ability 2 exercise MURDER CONTROL & freedom in their own life...IS SHE KIDDING? Adoption gives her AND baby FREEDOM! 64% of all post abortive claim COERCION & r DRENCHED IN REMORSE! DEAD women dig a DEAD Choice. See the bitterness, emptiness, & Womb War HATE in their eyes? BEASTS..
  • Abortion is an issue only because our society has abandoned Gods Word. God would rather nip this problem in the bud before any abortion could take place. Deuteronomy 22:13-21 says if a man marries a girl and finds her not to be a virgin, then she is to be stoned to death. Notice the girl is to be killed without a concern of whether she might be pregnant. God doesnt want that selfish man stuck raising a baby which wasnt his! The bible god's answer is to kill both the girl and the baby
  • a little to far, and that is old testament stuff, its "outdated" i am a christian, and i HATE abortion, but you went to far.....
  • Yeah but to Jews this stuff isn't outdated.
    Jesus claimed to be the very god who commanded people to kill non-virgin women. Why didn't Jesus realize what a pile of dung the OT was when he gave it to Moses the first time. Gee, I know... because that really wasn't the writings of a god, but rather the rantings of lunatics in a bronze-age primitive society.
  • the Jews need not follow the OT anymore, it has not been in effect since Jesus came.
    killing a baby because you dont want, or cant take care of it is wrong, it is murder. if you dont think so, check your morals, they prolly are, as the joker put it, "a sad joke"!!!
    wow, rantings of lunatics in the bronze age prohpicied Jesus coming, and they were right! maybe we should listen to them more often, like "thou shalt not commit murder"...good stuff.....good stuff. over 50 mil. babies have died.....
  • When people believe in bible's god, killing kids and fetuses becomes moral: Moses was angry with the oficers of the army who returned from battle. "Have you allowed all the women to live? They were the ones who followed Balaam's advice and turned the Israelites away from the LORD in what happened at Peor, so that a plague struck the LORD's people. Now kill all the boys and kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.[Num 31:14-18]
  • @exodus21v20 If this is irony, hilarious! If not, still too funny.
  • @yumchen
    The LORD has already decreed that killing innocent babies ever AFTER they're born is ok:
    •This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' [1 Samuel 15:2-4]
  • Why don't you just do what is necessary to avoid the problems of being pregnant in the first place? It's called personal responsibility. And if you do become pregnant, there are better options, than killing your child.
  • Mothers should have the choice to abort their child until they are 18 yrs old!!
  • why do they say womans rights when its a boy 50 percent of the time. no scientist will tell u when life becomes real unless they say conception. thats where ur life started. stop hating men like me cause i dont have a womb. i got common sense. ur fightin 4 me to commit murder with my tax money. where is the childs right.  we where all there. u. who came up with abortion and why do people make it a womans issue. it could be if women only had girls
  • actually women are more likely to abort if it is female..something about the male species i guess.
  • I also think that the gruesome pictures of aborted fetuses is incredibly tactless. Did these protesters not think that the decision to abort by a mother is not hard? By believing they were doing right, they have publicly displayed their lack of compassion for the potential participants of abortion.
  • Oh, so hard for her.
    Bull.
    It is the baby who dies.
    The mother kills.
    Compassion belongs to the baby, as does protection.
  • Well, OmniNorth, once you decide to take the life of your child, maybe you'll learn some compassion. I personally believe that it is the responsibility of the parent to care for her child, but i prefer to leave my personal opinions out of a situation when lives are at stake. It's easy for you to say an abortion is easy because you, like me, will never experience it. But you can at least pretend to care for the mother.
  • You wrote: "once you decide to take the life of your child, maybe you'll learn some compassion".
    Do you realize how clinically insane that is?
    Taking the life of a child is the antithesis of compassion: it is sociopathic.
    And I have all the compassion in the world for the baby in danger of being murdered by abortion, and none for the baby's killer.
  • Are you trying not to understand? Because if you are, you're doing an excellent job of it. When I speak of abortion, i don't speak of those who enter an abortion clinic because a birth is inconvenient to them. I speak of those who realize that the decision they're about to make is quite possibly the most difficult they will ever make.
  • There is no rationale for murdering a baby.
    Who gives a damn about the murderer?
  • I believe that mothers should have the right to an abortion. But I actually believe that mothers SHOULD simply have the child and utilize one of the many options out there that don't involve homicide. But I won't say I don't care for the mothers who have made their ultimate decision. I really think that you're being as incompassionate as you say you are compassionate.
  • Under my framework, the baby lives.
    Under yours, the baby dies.
    Therefore mine is better.
  • if a two people do it, they need to take care of it.... laziness kills our babies.....
    abortion should only be allowed for cases of rape....... even so, killing a baby is still horrible.
  • The abortionist is the killer,often women are forced into abortion.
  • Circumstances govern everything. There is no way that I, as a male, will ever be able to say whether abortion is right or wrong. I will never give birth. The circumstances involved in an abortion situation are unique to every individual who considers this practice, meaning that no one has the right to say to a woman considering abortion that they are right or wrong. Not even another woman.
  • what is choice you cant make a good choice on partial facts you are killing a baby thats infancticide
  • Its a womans choise of wether or not she gives birth...u hav to remember that its not a baby its a fetus
  • Fetus is just a word used to decribe a stage of life....just like adolesent(sorry suck at spelling). but just because you try to dehumanize a baby by using a scientific word doesnt make it less a baby.
  • very true
  • Although it is dumb for pro-lifers to use the word, "fetus", which has a dehumanizing effect. Should use "baby" or "pre-born baby" instead.
  • I suggest the Bush administration provide extra support for victims of rape, especially those who have been impregnated from the ordeal. They may ban abortions, but at least they should provide medically-assisted premature births and sponsor them for adoption.
  • Agreed
  • an unborn baby is a life with potential, not a potential life!
  • Let's say a girl decides not to have a baby. She doesn't have a baby for the remainder of her life. Assuming any births she could have takes 9 months and are not twins/triplets/etc., starts being sexually active at 15 and stops at 60, the average age when most women's reproductive organs are rendered unable, that's exactly 60 lives with potential that she didn't deliver to this Earth...
  • well your science is a little off...a new human life starts at conception...not at egg or sperm.  therefor she would have had no potential at bring in life...only the potential at bringing in a life with potential.
  • exactly. The egg and sperm are not lives with potential, the zygote is because that is the first human cell that becomes the trillions of cells that make up a human baby
  • Why don't you develop a method of developing these unwanted zygotes in vitro...This, I think, is the only way of solving the issue without causing negative impact on the woman, or the "life with potential", as you say. I am convinced that this issue cannot be resolved with philosophy alone! Everything I have read on these posts was brought up in my first-year med ethics course...Any solution to the abortion debate will have to be mutually beneficial to mother and the unborn.
  • well then, that's simple, the mother carries the baby to term and then she can give it up for adoption. There is a waiting list of hundreds if not thousands of couples looking to adopt a baby.  She doesn't evne have to see her baby. This is beneficial both ways because the baby lives and the mother doesn't risk life, PID, increased risk of miscarriage (200%), breast cancer (doubled) and ectopic pregnancy (160%)
  • The pregnancy itself is not benign. It causes permanent damage to the body and in the case of rape...extreme psychological damage. If your wife were raped, you would want her to give birth? [I am only arguing that abortion be an option for rape/incest or risk of maternal mortality.] And for the record, pregnancy does add risk to the mother...Wasn't sure where you were going with the last sentence there...PID? Those are some strange statistics...
  • pregnancy does cause permanent damage but not as bad as abortion. I'm never gonig to have a wife, I'm a woman and therefore I'm gonig to have a husband and if I got raped I'd carry the child to term because adding more trauma on top of the trauma of rape is not gonig make it go away, it'll make it worse because then you know that you are punishing the baby for what the father did.
  • Well under the current system of law, you do have the right to choose to carry the baby to term...I admire you for your positive decision. However there are women out there that would disagree with you STRONGLY. I feel it is their choice. Some women may not wish to reproduce at all, and it certainly should not be forced on them. I agree that abortion as a means of birth control is wrong but in the cases of rape/incest or maternal mortality risk I think the "choice" should remain.
  • yes, I do not condone abortion for convenience. Rape and incest is understandable but I don't believe that one traumatic event (rape/incest) should be combined with more trauma (abortion)
  • I see your point there. I disagree, however, with the idea that the abortion would somehow be viewed by all women as "tragic". Many women feel extreme disgust toward the idea of carrying the child of a man who raped them. I am sympathetic to this and, therefore advocate "choice" for them.
  • yea, and so does the rest of my family. I said I understand, if a woman who was raped told me she was going to get an abortion I'd obviously try and stop her but I would be more understanding than if she said that she just made a mistake and slept with her boyfriend and that was why she was going to get an abortion
  • My Fault, I must have misread you...So, are you an advocate of choice in the case of rape/incest, but you would include counseling the women first? I am pretty sure that is done currently...abortion doctors certainly screen their patients. Additionally, I think we both agree that abortion as a means of "birth control" only, is certainly questionable...
  • that's no problem. I myself do not believe abortion should be ok in any case except the life of the mother is at risk. As I said, I understand in that case but I do not support it.
    Yea, abortion for birth control should be illegal
  • Oh, and btw, late term abortion provider Dr. Martin Haskell is quoted saying that 80% of all the partial birth abortions he performs are elective, or on healthy women with healthy babies who didn't want to be pregnant anymore.
  • I think Dr. Carhart, abortion provider, who testified in the PBA trials, sums it up:
    "We're not asking for the right to suck the brains out of every child that walks down the street, we need to continue to offer safe abortions to women who need them to be done."
    -addressing the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, Omaha World-Herald, 1/2001
  • Watch fierce abortion debate under video "Dir en grey-Mazohyst of Decadance".
  • that's influenceing people, aka failing democracy. Should we also put Smiley Faces infront of one canditate/referendom and Frowny Faces infront of others?
  • The freedom to Make Decisions is the only true freedom we have, never let them take that away from you. -Lt. J. Raczack
  • Yah. My kid is just getting so hard to afford. And raising him is so stressful. I need to do something about it. I know... I'll kill him. Hey it's my decision, right?
  • nope! killing other fully developed humans is wrong.
  • And what is your definition of "fully developed"?
  • when the being can physicly live independantly, as the states define it.
  • Wow...you want to pretty much kill anyone dont you...who can physically live independently today anyway....we all depend on each other...if you remove us from this circle of dependency we will die as surely as a baby.
  • So tell me, when girls in Atlanta, Seattle, and Boston have abortions, how does that change the circle of depencency? Abortion doesn't take someone out of this world, it stops them from comming in.
  • I was just stating that just because you need someone doesnt make you less human, in a matter of fact i think it makes you more human...and if me you and everyone who posted on this video died it wouldnt change the circle of dependency either.
  • no, there's a difference between "has been" and "never was"
  • if you mean when the baby can live on his or her own outside the mom that means anytime after 19 weeks. The youngest premature baby to be born and live was at 19 weeks gestation. Most babies who are born at 20 weeks will survive thanks to medical science
  • yeah.... aka: abortions before 5 months are perfectly moral
  • wow...you prochoice people keep narrowing the definition more and more just to keep the right to kill why not just be a nazi and add "fully developed Arian humans"
  • why? that wouldn't change anything.
  • anybody who can have an abortion and then live with themselves afterwards is DISGUSTING.
  • Roe v Wade was a case of "rights out of thin air"......the court contorted itself to come up with its "reasoning" to support its desired outcome.....
  • An increase in social services would be needed to care for the innocent kids (they only ones you profess to care about), who end up in foster care because some idiot mothers (not in quotes because I don't think women should try to keep children they can't care for and expose them to drugs, alcohol, neglect and violence in the process) would try to parent them rather than give them up for adoption (it's a weird trend but common).
  • And that's why all this energy being put into murdering babies should be put into making the adoption process more appealing, and more efficient. So maybe, jsut maybe somebody out there can use Nurture to help these poor little idiot children get past the inborn idocy their parents gave them with Nature. It's a slim hope, but if anybody in our misbegotten species deserves a leap of faith it's the little 'uns. Long as they stay far the hell away from me. I can't stand kids.
  • you could prevent people from undergoing any surgery because of the potential complications. :P
