  • Holy fxk...this sh!t is the jam and that's THAT.

  • Man, how did I miss this concert. I've seen Jerry with just about everybody but Traffic.. Awesome! Sure do miss Jerry :(

  • Steve Winwood is a pretty bad ass guitar player himself..Rock n Roll Royalty no doubt about it!

  • The era never died just transformed, born in 89 the classics kill this dubstep bullshit everyone my age listens to, unfortunately never got to see Jerry, but technology has brought one good thing; him and his music lives eternally.

  • i was at this tour in columbus oh with g.d. and traffic it was awesome and im a little after this era just few years but i love it still the same jammed on janis jimmy, freedom rock, hair album etc....peace

  • yep I'm still here and rocking ;)

  • Great song and what a great voice!

  • Have yet to heard a bad version of this song...Winwood is an underrated guitarist; brilliant lead...though I adore all things Jerry, I must admit he looks lost and unwell...he wasn't to be around too much longer and that is a tragedy...leftover from too much "70s".

  • OHHhH yeah :-) I'm here! i too was one of thos children., Now a grandmother and still lovin the music

  • I'm here man! :) and we're still nice.

  • Oh jerry…Such a look of peace and enjoyment 1:48

  • I wish I was there!! Damnit!

  • @Tombstoneblues19 you are! :)

  • I am one of those children, grew up on old jazz and Jerry. We are still here, and so are you. Occupy Wall Street. The music never does stop, and we are still here. We've never left!!

  • man there is no words that i can use to explain the joy that i feel while listening to that song bro welcome to the canteen :)

  • Some of the best times ever to be had were; at, in, near, and around Dead Shows!

  • allsum

  • i was at this show....many good memories.....who would have thunk a year later the fat man would rock no more...R.I.P. Jerry thank you...

  • Mr Dear Fantasy???:DDD

  • Comment removed

  • I saw them play this song at RFK stadium around this same time. It was Traffic and then Jerry came out and the audience roared. Amazing!

  • @NoMoreDepression I was at RFK also, pretty cool.

  • the music will never stop. love

  • peace children awoke at the summer's end they said this is the time so let's pretend that magic & love spells fill the air * warlocks & wizards perform with great care enchanting each & every drop of teardrops that start & will not stop shed with the vision that we are saved by a kingdom that's coming shimmering today I know that it all seems none too soon 'cause i have been sung a whirled wide tune it sounds with trumpets & echoes to the moon with love all around it's gonna bloom!

  • I was at the 8-3-1994 show at Giant Stadium when they played this with Jerry

  • I was at the 8-3-1994 show at Giant Stadium when thay played this with Jerry

  • >.<

  • Steve Winwood, one of the great guatarist, largely overshadowed by his legendary voice and hammond. A complete musician that exceeds its very definition. A true legend.

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • what's not to like...

  • Incredible to get these guys together. AAAGGGHHH!

  • The dislikes come from the posers! Great performance!

  • I heard this a lot during tour 94. Love Traffic, but deep in my heart I loved the shows that Jerry and Brent let this one rip!!!

  • Just found this, not much of a youtuber. Dear Mr Fantasy on Welcome to the Canteen is my favorite song ever, along with just about any other version of it, have probably listened to it over 10K times (59yrs old). Dead favorite band by far, what a GEM!!! Gustavo you are ACES!!! Will probably have them play it at my funeral!!

  • saw them same weekend, Joe College DUKE, maybe 71. 72? any help here? and also I think THE WHO? what can I say, I knew the Owsley's boyz, cannot remember it all, Jaaaa

  • Where are the children of the 70's? Where have you gone? I just woke up. People were nicer, music was amazing and I want to go home, but the music never stopped.

  • @PandaplusMochi Youre so right. Much better times in 70's. Thank goodness for the music!

  • as great as jerry was at the guitar but stevie winwood sure can play too!

  • What was the date of this video? It's awesome! Miss you Jerry.

  • @crispy812 Im sorry but you have not been to 345,786 shows.. thats ridiculous to say..

  • wow incredible thank you for posting this gustavo!!!!!

  • Was talking to a brother of mine today about Dave Mason never knew he was a part of this or a part of Hendricks recording All along the watchtower. Hey, Thanks Dave! An Miss you Jerry, much LOVE

  • Jerry looks happy and healthy! Good Times

  • what a great tour, saw this at buckeye lake, ohio it rained for the entire traffic set, then when the dead played it stoped, and then the acid really kicked in (ha)

  • Was this Soldier Field Chicago?

  • Today on August 9 - we miss you more than ever Jerry --- Hope you are up there jammin with all the greats !!! peace.........

  • jerry looks real fucked up, i loved the grateful dead but i guess i wasn't the one who dedicated years of life following them. I know some who have and are very happy in life and of course those who are lost without. Long live good music!

  • @grateful1nate Jerry was dying from Diabetes at the time, may not have known it but his playing became more and more ethereal as he walked toward his assumption on August 9, 1995. I can only imagine the sessions, Jerry with Jimi and Stevie Ray, Elvis singing leads.

  • Jerry is loving it and so am I

  • Amazing!

  • @normy11yt That's terrible way to go about life! Without those other influences the Grateful Dead would not have been as great and without the Grateful Dead the other influences would not have been what they are, it's all one circle of sharing, so to speak. Glad to have a deadhead weight in though. Thanks!

  • Happy b-day Jerry. The world is a less colorful place without you.

  • Jerry looks so happy

  • Happy Birthday Jerry we all still love ya....

  • happy b day pappa

  • Shoot out at The Fantasy Factory and the Low Spark of High Heeled Boys must be two of the greatest Albums of all times and Dear Mr Fantasy isn't even on those!

  • GIBSONSORULES.

  • MAYB

  • OVERIT.

  • fuck ... i love you Jerry !!! i will dance to your tune in the promised land 4 sure

  • one of my fav .... ab fab darling ~ WWJD ? thanks for playing Mr Garcia

  • one of my fav .... ab fab darling

  • u just watched musical genius...mozart/beethoven genius...Beyond awesome!

  • Music is a universal language and these guys understood that FACT better than anyone. I really wish more people could accept and understand.

  • awesome! if I could sing like that...well I wouldn't be digging ditches thats for sure...!

  • wow wow wow im speechless :0 :)

  • What a beautiful song!

  • Jerry is GOD !!!!!!

  • Number 600!

  • This song makes the hotflashes better! Peace 2 All!

  • Epic Jam!

    ;^)

  • 6:57 WTF!?!?!

  • How can anyone dislike this?

  • @SignalPathAudio maybe a Bieber fan.

  • @SignalPathAudio really.

  • Sweet :-)

  • Love it I was there live, and look at Jerry so happy you rarely seen him smile like this in all the 90's tour. Thanks Goblinboy great vid!!!

  • 1 dislike, who is that?

  • @sunnydpunk just some dick who saw there was no dislikes and had to dislike it, but really loves this song

  • amazing!

  • LOVE the steel guitar!!

  • the year before he died. Looks so terrible. Poor jerry :(

  • As much as I love Stevie and all the bands he's played in, in seems he;s relinquishing the reigns to his elder.............miss Jerry very much, but appreciate Stevie's continued contributions...........he's basically a living God!

  • Good times.

  • JERRY WAS LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST !

  • It didn't seem like Jerry was very much into this jam. I didn't feel Jerry was melding with the band. He seemed burned out and distant from the action like his mind was somewhere else, or maybe Traffic wasn't his cup of tea. Otherwise, a very cool performance.

  • @bradstorrs

Could not agree more. On all fronts.

  • This was my baby girl's, Cassidy Rose, 1st & only show & what a show it was! She was born on 6-1193 during the previous years' Buckeye lake show - weird yet fitting!!

  • @rabbid68 Your baby was born at the show or just on that date?

  • @tubiebrother thank goodness not born @ the Buckeye show but on that date (~);} Thanks 4 askin' brother... hard 2 believe she's 18 now but she's still groovin.

  • @rabbid68 Sure. Glad she wasn't born at the show too. Would have been way too much. You both stay well.

  • Jerry looks like he's having a blast

  • I don't think those that are arguing amongst themselves are enjoying the music.

    I am tho!!

  • 483 - 1. dig it. some asshole clicked dislike just to feel like he trolled a little bit. thanks for this vid. incredible.

  • A little history lesson. Spanish invaded SW US and killed and enslaved Native Americans. Spanish bred with Indians and woo-la, Mexicans. Anglo-Europeans invaded the continent and killed and enslaved Native Americans and Mexicans.

  • que grande este gordo!! aguante las drogas! saludos desde Argentina

  • @cablepanos Don't waste your breath, you can't win with that kind. Logic doesn't apply for them. When confronted with the flaws in their argument, or their own hypocrisy it's straight to name calling and "the liberal media" a "Jewish conspiracy" or maybe "communist academics". Take your pick. Signed: A hardworking liberal who loves America, there's a lot of us out here, don't be so surprised.

  • This was one of the sweetest summer afternoons of my adult life...right up there with the first time I saw my little girl dancing @ the beach to one of my burns of an old show I recorded.

Belated thanks to Gustavo for making my afternoon

Oh, and starsgift is right... and we should never forget it

Cause without those sentiments, we might as all be working on wall street kicking grandma to the curb

  • great i wud bottl it n sel it if i cud.com

  • Hell ya this is epic beyond epic.

  • 5*****

  • I remember this show as not being very good and now that I see the video I feel validated. 94' was not a good year for the Dead or more specifically Jerry. Here he seems to be struggling on a song which should have been pretty rote for him. I saw 5 shows that summer all were pretty pathetic., Buckeye had moments or maybe it was just the experiance of watching a show in an absolute monsoon. I really feel bad for anyone who never saw the band prior to 91'.

  • @MrTritonite Get on stage and do better.

  • Fabulous Night through & through !! One I will not forget ~ Great post !

More Jerry woulda been nice Steve~

  • Fabulous Night through & through !! One I will not forget ~ Great post !

  • GREAT video. Jerry & the Traffic Jam !

  • Jerry suffered with Diabetes for many years!!

  • Jealous Player

  • With all the crap the music industry produces, it's heartening to see some legendary figures show how it's done.

Even towards the end Jerry was capable of a brilliance few others could even aspire to. If there's a rock'n'roll heaven you know they've got a he'll of a band!!!

  • Giants Stadium Summer Tour '94 -- I was there, maaaan!

  • RIP Jerry

  • Little Feat not a bad opening act either.

  • Jerry is going "oh, so that how that song goes:!!!!!

  • Love the Dead. Hate Jerry's Overdose Suicide, but his Music lives on.

  • @coconutcrab4martin I detest drugs and think Jerry's use of them is a tragedy, but I do not think he technically died of an overdose. He died in a rehab facility, where he wouldn't be right after an overdose (he'd be at a hospital). Whether or not he was ever trying to kill himself with his use of drugs, who knows. But, the fact that he was in the rehab indicates that he was seeking help and did not want to die at that point. RIP. He was a good man with a weakness. By the grace of God go us all.

  • @baguazhang77 "I would not condemn you, nor yet would I deny. I would ask the same of you but faith will not die". He was a Prophet with pain. May he be with God in peace.

  • @baguazhang77 ur absolutely correct ~ he even left the rehab hosp. to walk one of his daughters down the aisle & then returned to the rehab where he died of a heart attack.We all have our demons ~ some people's are just easier to pick apart than others. God bless Jerry, the Boys, and every deadhead everywhere (~):}

  • @coconutcrab4martin lol wut. He was in a rehab off drugs, and he had a heart attack

  • @MrFaggotfucker The story sounds better every year the rumor of how he died is spread around.

  • One of my favorite vocalists and one of me favorite guitarists. :) I saw them together at Buckeye Lake that year. Awesome!

  • I saw Traffic on this tour in Richmond, Va. They played 6 songs for 3 hours. Epic.

  • Must admit I aint heard of this duet before now...Think the captains bottle neck adds a nice personal touch to this legendary Anthem... Only wish they'd done more collabs in their day.. as with the dead and JA.... You'd never have to buy acid again... just tune in...

  • Anybody remember the Buckeye Lake show with Traffic and The Dead? The rain, the wind, the awesomeness?

  • @myresourcenet ~~~~``YAH MAN , I TOOK A GOOD FRIEND FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO HIS FIRST SHOW .. AND . PUSHED HIS BIG VIRGIN ASS ALL THE WAY TO LIKE 10TH. ROW..ROLLED A PHAT BASSTERD THEN CAME THE MONSOON..LOL ..(~);}.... TRAFFIC DOWNSIZED. AND TARPED WHAT THEY COULD. AND STILL BROUGHT IT ....i was just looking over my stubbs i've been to 345,786.. shows...so there.. lol good weather is nice but ,the mother of nature bring togatherness, and charecter... peace me friend ..,,.(~):}

  • @crispy812 Lots of shows. I get the impression that you like the Dead, Peace X

  • @crispy812 345,786 shows??? So that almost one a day for 1000years you are truly amazing!!

  • Steve Winwood has such a fantastic story of a music career....

  • to everyone esp what11110000, now call me crazy but wasn't the whole Dead scene about everyone coming together for the music, not to bash others, but to truly enjoy what was similar and to accept the differences? I always thought so, but if one chooses to bad mouth and not try to see the other side then I guess so be it. Peace to you and may you find some acceptance within yourself...

  • @TheStarsgift I thought the same thing as I read his post. I must admit I don't normally read what people post down below for the simple reason I'm usually disappointed by the ignorance of what I see. Negative words only provoke more negative.......Peace to all!

  • @TheStarsgift

    Some People will never understand!

You are either on the bus or not!

    Peace

    (~);^)

  • @TheStarsgift As someone who has been a deadhead for going on 25 years, I have to admit there was always a flipside that I fortunately was not a party to. That is to say, there were always deadheads who thought that nothing but the grateful dead counted as "good"

  • I don't know where these guys landed on RS's list of ax men, and don't care. When listed the 500 greatest songs of "rockn'roll" there wasn't a single one by the Dead!

They were THE most influential American band ever, weren't they.

  • I wonder where Captain Trips and Steve Winwood are on Rolling Stone's list of greatest guitar players. Bet they didn't get that one any more right than they did Dave Davies of the Kinks.

  • @martykate RS's list of guitar players is a fucking joke. Jerry is at number 13 with Kurt Cobain ahead of him. Kurt Cobain better than Jerry? Really? I really think they added up how many times someone was on their cover and ranked them that way. That really is the only methodology I can think of.

  • @cablepanos RS is the biggest piece of shit rag ever

  • @rtt470 I think it is safe to say that the Grateful Dead are also "Liberal scum". BTW, I'm also a liberal scum.

  • @cablepanos I don't listen to Dead for political inspiration. Maybe you should see someone about that liberal scum thing. It's ruining the country. Or I should say, RUINED.

  • @rtt470 Nor do I, on listening to GD. Ruining whose country? According to your channel page, you are in Tajikistan. If you mean America, I disagree. The Neo-cons are the problem in my opinion. The country started circling the toilet bowl while Bush was in office. If you think Obama is a liberal, we have no basis for a rational conversation.

  • @cablepanos Yes. Barry is ruining the country, by doing NOTHING! Worst piece of crap since Carter. I don't vote along party lines and I certainly did not buy whatever crap B.O. was selling. I won't even call him a President. We may have been circling the bowl, but now we have a piece of crap (Barry) clogging it. Liberal, socialist, "progressive", whatever. They all smell the same. And I never really wanted a conversation anyway, Especially with a libocrat.

  • @rtt470 You sound like a brain-washed tool.

  • @cablepanos ah. Name calling, How liberal

  • @rtt470 LOL Let's take a count; "Liberal scum" x2, "Barry", "piece of crap" x2, "Libocrat" That's 6:1.

I said that for a reason; You said "Barry" has done nothing in one sentence, and the called him progressive in another. Well, which is it? Or can't you regurgitate a talking point for that one.

  • @cablepanos "progressive"<<<<<--------see the quotations? Do you understand what they mean? Good to see you have nothing better to do than analyze what I write. Now go contribute nothing to society, like the rest of your kind. maybe abort a living fetus or help a wetback over the boarder. Please, move along. I made a comment directed at Rolling Stone, not you.

  • @rtt470 Okay, I'm sorry. I thought when you replied to me with @cablepanos you were directing it at me. My mistake.

  • this IS the BEST of both worlds!

  • Man they really rocked this out!

  • jerry took the back seat on the lead didn't like that

  • chilllssssssss

  • Ohhhh Myyyy Gooodddddd I want to go baaaack!!!

  • Thank you for this post, I'm pretty sure I was at his show. Can't remember '91 or '92??

  • @aeroshine 1994

  • Garcia--loads of talent--nice guy--what was wrong with him that he felt the need to commit suicide in slow motion? Sad.

  • Jez looks awful. But no matter how many drugs he took, he was still a great friendly guy and a great guitarist. We need him back!!!!!!

  • @Django5198 Just smoke a 'spliff'(dedicated to HIM!),then eat the Ben & Jerry's 'Cherry G.!!!!!!![whilst listening -of course - to Am.Beauty,Work.'s Dead,or Aoxomoxoa...or even SKULLFUCK(the title was banned ...as I guess ya know!!!!!?)...HE WILL - THUS - APPEAR :at least on your tongue!!!!!! Mango splash

  • @Django5198 No we don't. Do not you know he(they) are always with us. In your heart. They all play on.

  • Love Jerry's guitar sound on this tune!

  • this is sad to see in so many ways....great performance still but could have been so much better say any year up through 91 when Jer was a little more on his "A" game(IMHO)... Jerry obviously chased the dragon a little too long before coming out on stage and has the whacko smacko gonzo gaze going...pretty much par for the course from '92....kids, let this be a lesson, lay off the SMACK!

  • Felt like listening to this song and came across this awesome version with Jerry. Thanks for sharing!

  • I'm pretty sure this was the third day of vegas 94 cause jerry is wearing a purple shirt.....like the "so many roads" from the third night when traffic opened

  • I loved Jerry, we shared diabetes, steve is great, but Jerry will be in my heart for ever

  • That was super! Thanks for sharing it with us. Goosebumps for sure!

  • goosebumps, gracias.

  • i only watched this because jerry was in it. probably wouldnt have checked twice.... Rest In Paradise brother!

  • seriously i could never thank you enough for the post

  • 1994? Giants stadium? Hell yeah I was there. Nearly $hit too when Winwood walked out on stage. Saw Traffic a couple years later at Garden State Arts Center and almost $hit again....Never thought Winwood and Mason would ever do a re-union.

  • GREAT VIdeo - 2 Virtuosos

  • Fantastic stuff, am a big fan of Jerry Garcia and just love Traffic so this is very special

  • I was there!
