@Gingerific123 Nothing... Just some extra cages I put them when I'm cleaning the larger cage. Actually I gave one cage away when I gave away the black one so I only have one smaller cage now.

@chocolatetaco321 He was ok then. : ) He died though because I could no longer find the brand of guinea pig food he liked and he got real skinny and weak. Apparently, the company went out of business and he didn't really like the newer brand of food I started buying.

@leonheart41 Guinea Pigs already have bad lungs. That would just make their breathing worse. They will have no holes to be nosy, they can not sniff the fresh air properly, it will make them breathe heavy which may cause death.

@erinnwardo I had the smaller cages before the large one was built. Previously had another male that I didn't want to mate with my females and kep them in separate cages.

I've heard males are friendlier than females, but after reading some of your comments i'm concerned that they might be messier?

I've had previous experience with violent females.

Also, if I kept a C&C cage in my room, would it smell?

I'm concerned as this is the only place I have to keep it.

@Jasmine118247 Yes, I've seen aggressive females at the pet store. (When they keep all the females together, one of them is bound to be the dominant female.) Your cage will only smell if you don't clean it once a week.

Are you feeding your guinea pigs Romaine lettuce? Ice burg lettuce is dangerous to guinea pigs, it can cause diarrhea and intestinal problems.

ive seen many cages with fabric floors. is the fabric floor suppose to act as bedding? (my guinea pig poops ALL the time, is there something wrong?)

@zqmbfg Usually, it's the males that do that. Males pee and poop all the time to mark their scent and let other piggies in the cage know that they are the boss. In my experience, girls don't do it that much, but maybe it's because I've only had one male and he's always dominant. Probably if you only have females, there'll be one that is bossy and will do the same thing. I never see my girl piggy poop or pee! She seems to like cleanliness.

I have a book with a list of guinea pig breeds, but I can't seem to put the right picture with mine, there are several long-haired breeds. Roxi was hand raised and born at my place. I bought spike at the pet store and a female named Ginger that I gave away after the babies were born and spike and Ginger had 3 youngins :) Ginger was furry but not as much as Roxi.

What do you use on the bottom of the cage? is it kitty litter or shavings or something else? im making my guineas a new indoor cage because of winter comming up its getting pretty harsh outside! I was wondering if i put kitty litter down it would be easier to clean etc. What would you reccomend? (:

@Lestrangerr It's a type of bedding that seems to be made out of a paper-like material... I don't know what it is though. It is sold at meijer and petsmart. It takes a 19.99 package to fill up the entire bottom portion. For the upper portion I just use a pet blanket on top of cardboard.

I recommend fleece though... I will be buying fleece instead of the bedding soon.

U shouldn't feed your guinea pigs so much letuce it causes dihareah and then possibly death. Be carefully but adorable!

@Parakeetkid Thanks! I took Spike to a guinea pig veterinarian and she said that Romaine lettuce (and Romaine lettuce only) is ok and they can have as much as they want. Their droppings have been ok since I've had them for going on 2 years now. No health problems so far.

@TheChunkymonkey98 Pause it at 15 seconds (0:15 / 4:16), and you'll see a two-part ramp. They have become very good at running up and down. Spike likes to just slide down the 2nd half to get down quicker)... It's so funny. I think I have video of him doing that and will post it soon.

@summer751 I empty all of the toys and things, then I get a dustpan and scoop up the bedding and place in a large garbage bag. Clean out the bottom with disinfectant, then re-add some new bedding. It's a lot of work. You shouldn't get this large of a cage if you don't want to deal with the work of keeping it clean.

I'm not an expert on breeds, sorry. I bought Spike and Roxi's mother at the pet store. And they had three babies (Roxi is one of them). The mother was very furry as well, but I'm not sure what breed she was.

Thanks! I got the hut from PetSmart. It doesn't look like that anymore! The guinea pigs like to chew the material at the top. So I will throw it away and buy something else one of these days to put up there in place of it.
