Hey I'm in a very similar situation to this at the moment. I have been offered a replacement MacBook Pro today due to several faults including the backlight on the keyboard and issues with the headphone jack etc. I was wondering, did you get to keep the old Mac you were having issues with?
@DeenaJackman Unfortunately, no. I'm sure what they'll end up doing with your old one is replacing all the parts necessary and reselling it as "refurbished" on their website. They've gotta make their money back somehow! lol
I don't understand how having a broken computer then having to wait over a month for a repair/replacement is good customer service. I know it's upgraded but this is standard practice for all tech companies as it's often cheaper for them to replace than to repair or source old stock. Dell have done the same for me and still wouldn't call good customer service ie getting my broken product fixed.
I wish they would do that for me... I have the white macbook from about 3 years ago. I had to go in 3 times to get stuff fixed. The HD crashed, twice for cracks on the bezel and around the keyboard from over heating. and now the screen keeps going black unless it is either all the way open or almost closed. Any suggestions?
Hmmm, well , all new Macbook Pros have the unibody construction , be it matte or glossy display.
It is OS 10.
Can't believe you actually think theres ANY downsides to this situation. You got a free Macbook Pro. If you like matte you could have sold this one and bought the matte.
Eh? I don't understand. You said you work in dim light a lot, hence you needed the backlight to be fixed quite promptly.
But you originally had the matte display... Why? Matte is horrible for dim light! Glossy is amazing in dim/low light areas, which is what you are working in.
So if anything, you should be glad they gave you the glossy and NOT the matte display!
Lol. When I'm in the dark and I'm watching a video or anything else that has a habit of displaying not-so-bright areas on the screen, sometimes I can see my reflection. It's obviously not a constant issue, but still a *little* annoying. I've never had a reflection issue on the matte screen.
And this is why I love Apple! They have amazing customer service! I have a Macbook Air and the hinge broke and they replaced the hole screen and everything for FREE when I walked right in! Would have cost $800+!

@berrycoolvideos Yes very much so! The glossy display is a bit annoying when I'm outside in the sun, but otherwise it's fantastic! :)

Ah, I see!
But aren't you happy with all of the wondrous colours that are amplified thanks to the glossy screen? :)

My MacBook Pro has a glossy display. I think you'll like it once you get used to it. I love it!
