Oh yeah the drug cartels are going to go through all the trouble of smuggling weapons from the states when they could easily buy crates of AK47 Variants and China and other countries that sell in bulk and don't give a fuck about who they sell to. Also where do you think they're getting all those grenades and Rocket Launchers from, Remington?
FOX NEWS IDIOTS IT DOES NOT MATTER IF ITS 90 % OR 80 PERCENT U IDIOT THE POINT IS THAT THET ATF IS SELLING WEAPONS TO THE MAFIA CARTEL WHILE MEXICO TRIES TO END THEM ARE U FK IDIOT REPORTER WHY WOULD ATF DO THAT IF RECORDS SHOW THAT HUNDREDS OF GUNS HAVE BEEN SOLD TO CARTEL
Now tell me that the law abiding gun owners of the US should be punished, and have their rights trampled on, by the very people who are smuggling the guns!
I know many collectors who have lots of AK's and other firearms, There are people with lots of money, who have galleries in their house to display historical firearms. Just as not all Muslims are terrorists, not all gun owners are smugglers and drug runners! Focus on the problem people.
@fargley001 Yes they should, that is how laws are created in this country a stupid teenager rollover his pimp up truck in Texas and now all of us who want to lift our trucks we have to get especial permits and pay a bunch of taxes, well some idiots sold guns to mexico all of you trigger happy idiots should pay for there mistake
I am a mexican, and I believe We must create here in my country another "special operation"; It will be called "Rapido y Furioso" and its purpose will be to get ALL the cocaine tons We confiscated and send them to YOU " undercover ", just to see what happens, and how far this cocaine might go into the US. how would you like that ??????? We wouldnt be trying to kill thousands of americans from overdozing, We would be trying to catch the bad guys who buy our cocaine!!!!
If you look around youtube you'll see operation "Rapido y Fruioso" is in full effect... Your government is already permitting the smuggling - there's big business in that. I'm simply stating that if you take the revenue out of the equation, you'll kill the black market. The whole reason why drugs are a lucrative market is that our government(s) have driven the prices VERY high by limiting supply, and those who can conduct this illegal business. History supports my viewpoint.
@fargley001 you are COMPLETELY WRONG mister, this was an american undercover program, they NEVER informed mexican authorities about it, as a matter of facts, right now our senate are discussing how to AVOID that US does things like that in the future. WE are not your playground, YOU ARE NOT supposed to damage your neighbor. Right now I have NO respect for your programs, institutions or politicians, THEY simply don´t care for Mexico.
I am not wrong. This particular incident is 1 of many. You're foolish to think that your government is not party to the drug smuggling - MX is filthy with corruption. If I were a citizen of MX I would hold my politicians accountable for border security, and for catering to American interests.
.
And in case you have overlooked my previous message, I dont support the War on drugs, and intervention in Mexico. If I had my way, there would be a South Korean style DMZ on the border.
@fargley001 several corrupt mexican politicians are part of the drug problem, of course, but not the entire goverment. But you instead are so sinic and with so much lack of values that you even create gun traffic programs like fast and furious. You´re goverment is Evil, the most egocentric country in the world, you don´t care who dies here, you just do your "experimental" operations without caring for thousands of Mexicans dying from those 2,500 AK47.
@fargley001 ohh and if this that you said "I am not wrong. This particular incident is 1 of many" about your goverment smuggling guns into my country.... then PLEASE close the border, maybe that way We would be safer from our "friendly neighbor". We dont want your "Gun smuggling programs".
There's almost no point in my continuing this dialog with you. For what ever reason, being voluntary or involuntary, my message is not getting through to you.
I have no hostility towards MX, or you for that matter. You can blame your violence on whomever you wish to. The reality of the matter is that the US is not the root of all your troubles. MX has some blame here too. Regardless, this problem is a government issue. God bless, and good luck to you. Be safe.
@fergarais gringos will love that!!!! DRUGS is a big time business for the states....do you thing gringos want to get rid of drugs????? NO, drugs are a round business for them.....EVER HEARD OF CIA, FBI OR ATF?? well they are all the same crap.....
Sorry guys, but if you don't live in mexico you live at the expense of what the people in tv tells you (which is known not to be reliable). If u go to mexico, and live there you'll know that weapons DO come from the us. To deny this, is to deny reality... when u see the bloods in the streets, when u hear drug dealers talk about their deals... u know, sadly still the real conceptual world that we make is still corrupt... so stop lying to yourself.
With all due respect, you believe the info from Calderon is more reliable? There are facts, and there are lies. The US Secretary of State is consistently spreading lies - known lies - lies which have been proven by going to the very source. You are right if you are upset with the US - but its not because of our gun laws. Its because of our drug laws.
Without the "war on drugs" your gangs would have no money for guns.
@fargley001 The reality is that guns are making life unbearable in Mexico and the country whit the most relax gun policy is just north of Mexico and the story about ATF agents helping the cartels get armed, all that is been ignored on this report, and simple as this Mexico hasn't legalize drugs because the US is putting pressure on the mexican government whit there international drugs policies, other wise Mexico could be an other Amsterdam and all the american kids will be there all the time
Mexico should wise up to the fact that the US is creating the drug market. The Mexican government / police are puppets to the very powerful cartels. Ask your self how the cartels got so powerful...
As for children going over the border as though its Amsterdam, what are kids doing on spring break in Cancun? Who are the cartels selling their drugs to now?
The answer is to legalize the drugs, and not infringe upon the rights of law abiding US citizens.
@Bera1989 I've seen the weapons with my own eyes. No US import marks, 3rd axis pin hole from the factory, Columbian Galils, Current Issue Chinese AKs, Chinese RPG Rocket Launchers. Only the lowest street goon/wannabe would bother with US semi-auto crap. The cartels get their weapons from the international arms dealers at $.10 on the dollar compared to what they would pay for US commercial weapons. The only US guns I saw were marked RESTRICTED-MILITARY/GOVERNMENT LAW ENFORCEMENT/EXPORT USE ONLY

Yes, this was discovered a few weeks back. Its amazing that this story made mainstream media. I located the vid from CBS on their website, and will be posting the vid on my channel.
Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley is the guy who called an investigation into the ATF. Whats more, one of the guns that the ATF had sold to smugglers was used to kill a US border patrol officer.
@TheSalvadorluna Totally miss leading this story has one side of the issue only, Where is the fair and valance? just plain and simple if your neighbor sells candy at $2 and the store 2 miles away sell it for $5 who do you gonna buy from? That is the US/ Mexico issue cheap guns across the border for cartels easy to get and whit no control, fox news lies, no facts no nothing on this report and in top of that the ATF who was preventing the cross of this guns to Mexico was helping them cross.

We all hate the cartels. They send drugs to US and bring arms to Mexco. the cartels have tunnels and cross the border line Northern Mexico, with Drugs one way and arms the other way. Arms are coming from US, most of the arms that mexican army confiscte to the cartels normally are found near the US border (northern Mexico)
The fact is that the US gives many weapons to the Mexican military and law enforcement. Because of the corruption inside of the Mexican military/police, many of the US made weapons these drug gangs use, are rather bought or stolen from the Mexican military.
@Koumrian Did you live in the border like me, do you live the violence and chaos that my family lives, had you lost a friend or family member due to the drug war? It is easy for all those gun happy NRA republicans to open your mouth and had diarrhea of the mouth the fact is that no one in the world needs a 50 caliber at home or an ak47, those type of assault rifles should be restricted to arm forces or police not on the hands of regular Joe or even crazy Joe I Gonna kill Classmates or State Reps
@stitchedplate41 Mexican military does not use the AK-47. That weapon is sold in the GunShops all over the USA, I have checked their webpages, they even sell armor piercing ammo.
You do not want to see the truth, in your country is very easy to find a FN five-seven with armor piercing ammo, AK47 AR-15 and all kinds of war material, some of them manufactured in Bulgaria, Israel, Belgium and the USA - of course -, so don't give that bull shit about you being innocent in this shared war. Drug cartels hire US citizens with clean police records to buy them legally, heck even on the NET you coul buy some.
5.7X28mm is just a cartridge. There are armor piercing projectiles in a whole variety of cartridges - BFD.
Nobody is defending the criminals here.. We're simply saying that law should not govern at the lowest common denominator. Because some are criminals, the entire population should not be treated as criminals. The only BS here is what you are buying into...
There is a problem with the drug lords. If you want to correct that, take way their revenue, or start policing the border.
Im a mexican citizen and its true most arms come from US, is true!!,
Mexican army has found a lot of weapons in some ranchs in tamaulipas, Nuevo leon, Chihuahua state and dectect truckloads going south US border. Mexico and US politicians solve it!!!!!
violence in Mexico is getting worse. In some cases weapon dealers or cartels delete serial numers. Both governments must work fast
I agree that both governments need to do more, but the US government does not care about violence in MX - they just wish to use these fabricated data points to mislead...
Again, going back to what the video explains, the claims of "90%" and the pictures of fully auto sub guns, and grenades, clearly indicates that those arms did not come from civilians (those are illegal or prohibitively expensive for civilian ownership). The 90% quote is very misleading as to actual numbers of guns found
Until the US gets more serious about this problem, the mexican drug cartels are going to keep winning this war, their resources and networks, well established here in the US need to be identified and dismantled, their money and weapons are mainly shipped from the US. These cartels are imitating the terroristic methods of al-quaeda and this growing problem is a menace to the united states.
@samifonse FIRST: Identified and arrest US druglords (Or who do you think buys and distributes ALL the drugs?)
SECOND: try to erradicate corruption in you agents, ICE, Customs, etc. (Or how do you think TONS of drugs travel from the border to N.Y.C and Seattle, [tip: highways])
THIRD: Why do you gringos like so much Drugs? You ask, we supply. Does your goverment knows that? Of course, it is billion dollar business.
There is no need for derogatory name calling - it does nothing for the debate.
FIRST: I agree - drugs are the issue, they create revenue for the cartels. On the US side of the coin, we need to change that.
SECOND: The word Mexico is nearly synonymous with the word corruption. To your point though, we have lost control of our government and we need to change that NOW. Mexicans need to take control as well
THIRD: I agree that there is a revenue stream - change the law and it dies.
@fargley001 about GRINGO: [...] the term can also be used to simply identify a foreigner and does not carry a negative connotation according to the definition in the dictionary of the Spanish Royal Academy which defines the Spanish language.
oK, we agree in something then. BOTH countries are guilty.
Clearly reminds me of the prohibition of alcohol in the USA in the early 1920's, why can't we just be like the Netherlands?
"Clearly reminds me of the prohibition of alcohol in the USA in the early 1920's, why can't we just be like the Netherlands?"
Now you are talking, my friend. Take away the market and, just like the gangsters of the 20's, they have to go and find a legitimate means of making money.
As for guns - they are the scapegoat. BS numbers are being used by those who wish to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. This is a deliberate attempt to exploit the situation...
that stupid if there is 29,000 weapons recovered from crime scenes in 2007 and 2008, 11,000 were sent to trace (ETrade), 6,000 of those could be traced which mean the other 5,000 had the serial number were filed off (scratched off). So only 6,000 were submitted and 5,000 of those were from the U.S. so that mean out of the weapons that could be trace 84% came from the U.S..
According to ATF and FBI, only 10% of the guns recovered by the United States can be traced back here. All of the guns brought into the United States are REQUIRED to have serial numbers on them. Well the ATF and FBI say the other 90% of guns recovered here have no serial numbers, meaning they didn't come from the United States. They are weapons bought by the cartel from other places or Mexican military bringing their weapons home. I would have told Calderon, get in your limo and go home.
I've also seen on another "news" video that the FN Five-seveN that was "designed to pierce body armor" (with no mention that it's only possible against most vests with an ARMOR-PIERCING round, which is already illegal in the US), and that it "...essentially fires a rifle bullet"(!).
Apparently, they never heard of the Tula Tokarev TT-33 with similar characteristics... or that they're smuggled to criminals all over the world from *Eastern Bloc* countries; can't blame the US for THAT!
I have to agree it's a liberal led spin to try and seize all guns from the general populace.
Let's say for a moment that the 90% figure is close to accurate. Okay, so who was it that was running the guns? Mexican drug cartel stooges that were buying them from legitimate U.S. businesses? Hmmm, I see a flaw there. It's still the criminals that's the problem. Don't try to penalize legitimate businesses because of the actions of criminals. FFS people need to wake up and see what's happening.
That opens another topic, but I do agree with you. Your logic does point out their true objective - which has nothing to do with the criminals. The objective by presenting these "cooked" numbers is to disarm the good guys.
Meanwhile, the very politicians and movie stars wish to disarm the average American (cause average Americans must be inferior beings) These elitists living in gated communities enjoy the security of armed personal guards.
Guns will fall into the hands of CRIMINALS no MATTER WHAT. Especially in Mexico, where police and all the other corrupt Goons have free reign over the people.
This shit will not stop, and going after American's guns will only make shit much, much worse.
On a lighter note, I find it hilarious that the reporter is holding an AK in the video.
People generally fear the unknown. May folks today dont understand "life" and have become accustomed to a "shielded" perspective of the world. People dont want to know where their food comes from, they would rather see them selves as animal lovers than consumers. People also want someone else to defend them - its what folks know. So when you see gun violence, the people who dont understand will tend to look for a symbol that represents their fear and attack that instead of the root cause.
The administration, government and others want to take away gun rights. I cant go duck hunting cause amunition has gone through the roof. Take this from a 13 year old, thanks all of you who want to screw with the real world, thanks.
The good news is that the ammo crisis is subsiding a bit. August was a good month for me in that I could find every caliber in stock, with only .22 federals increasing in price by 2 bucks...
In a few years you'll be able to vote - remember these times and express to your friends the importance of being an active and responsible voter.
Your generation is information savy and should know when you're being lied to by the media. Always vote, every election. This mess will be here for a while
I'm sure there are trace guns from all over but those numbers are relatively miniscule - as the piece states.
Can you cite your source please?
In addition, check the BATFE statistics. You'll see how the statistics are misconstrued.
BTW - I'm not an advocate of FOX, but they are spot on with this one. Your other sources need to update their data or how they are representing the data to the public.
Even if all the guns came from TX, why would that be a US problem? 2 words - "drug war"
@RestrainedNoMore Yes again who the "F" needs a caliber 50 at home or an Ak 47 anyway those guns along whit the m16's an ar 15's should be for exclusive use of the arm forces and police not in the hands of regular people, as long as the US has no control of there guns and the people that enforce and prevent this guns to cross to Mexico are doing the opposite like those ATF agents and this idiots on fox news just reporting one side of the story the violence will be escalating, GUN CONTROL PLEASE
it is not the liberals who are trying to take our rights away it are those who want us dead look into the obama deception this video will clear things up. God bless and protect us all, Glory to God!
The facts are what inform responsible voters. Responsible voters can make a difference in the political state of America.
There is a lot of ground to reclaim, and this past election was not reassuring to me, but I'm hoping this poor economy will bring people to their senses.
Will the fact that we know know the actual facts make any factual difference to our legislators and other heads of agencies that don't seem to care about the facts?
The Mexican drug cartels would rather have the US be chasing guns than drugs.
key point: having limited law enforcement units chasing guns the more drugs they can smuggle across the border.

@osmodivs

So only 6,000 were submitted and 5,000 of those were from the U.S. so that mean out of the weapons that could be trace 84% came from the U.S..
alex11830 1 year ago

BlacktailDefense 1 year ago
I have to agree it's a liberal led spin to try and seize all guns from the general populace.
Let's say for a moment that the 90% figure is close to accurate. Okay, so who was it that was running the guns? Mexican drug cartel stooges that were buying them from legitimate U.S. businesses? Hmmm, I see a flaw there. It's still the criminals that's the problem. Don't try to penalize legitimate businesses because of the actions of criminals. FFS people need to wake up and see what's happening.
gbhobson 2 years ago
That opens another topic, but I do agree with you. Your logic does point out their true objective - which has nothing to do with the criminals. The objective by presenting these "cooked" numbers is to disarm the good guys.
Meanwhile, the very politicians and movie stars wish to disarm the average American (cause average Americans must be inferior beings) These elitists living in gated communities enjoy the security of armed personal guards.

Fuck! How can people be so FUCKING STUPID?

RestrainedNoMore 2 years ago 7
@RestrainedNoMore Yes again who the "F" needs a caliber 50 at home or an Ak 47 anyway those guns along whit the m16's an ar 15's should be for exclusive use of the arm forces and police not in the hands of regular people, as long as the US has no control of there guns and the people that enforce and prevent this guns to cross to Mexico are doing the opposite like those ATF agents and this idiots on fox news just reporting one side of the story the violence will be escalating, GUN CONTROL PLEASE
