  • It has been known for years that the "Separation of Church and State" came into effect because the founding fathers didn't not want conflict with the various Christian denominations in the colonies. They wanted to cap religious conflict and violence and the best way to do that was to avoid an "Established Religion" so they separated the Government from the Church. If everyone in the colonies were Catholics or Presbyterians for example, then I'm sure they would have keep religion in Government.

  • Why were all of the Tea party members overweight? Am I the only one that noticed that...?

  • @Devialx10 No, you are not the only one to notice that most all of them are overweight, it stuck out like a sore thumb to me:) Maybe to many biscuits at those tea parties lol

  • As someone who's spent their whole live in Nashville, TN, I can say that woman at the beginning truly represents the vast majority of bigoted, willfully ignorant, superstitous, racist residents of this fugly state.

  • There's an interesting rumor that Thomas Paine was responsible for the Declaration. Interesting indeed.......

  • I just go with the flow dont care for god or science what ever happened happened

  • What's with all these weird capitalization and punctuation errors in the comments?

  • I'm Canadian, not American, but I think we run a pretty close second as far as religious people go. This is mostly a christian country, too. And being an atheist here puts me into the minority. I've noticed one big difference, though, and this isn't meant as a criticism. We are not patriotic. We love our country, but don't have delusions of grandeur about it.

  • only in the us can ppl running for political office proudly showcase their ignorance and stupidity . in europe, our poiticians at least try to appear smart and educated. stupid is the new cool

  • LISTEN AMERICANS PLEASE GET RELIGION THE FUCK OUT OF GOVERMENT EDUCATION IT DOES SHIT N CRAP IM INDIAN IF INDIA WAS ESTABLISHED AS A HINDU NATION WE THE MINORITY CHRISTIANS WOULD BE FUCKED PLEASE LISTEN RELIGION AND GOVERMENT IS NOT A GOOD COMBINATION IT LEAST TO THE MOST EVIL CRAP IN HISTORY PLS LOOK AT NAZI GERMANY,AFGHANISTAN AND IRAN AND THE DARK AGES I KNOW WHAT TODAYS EVENGELICAL CHRISTIANS IN THE US ARE DOING THEY PUTTING RELIGIOUS CRAP IN SCIENCE AND TTEMPING TO CHANGE HISTORY .

  • I can tell by your language that you know what your talking about. I have to give you credit you know how to spin the facts.

  • America did not begin with the Constitution, it began with the Mayflower compact.. You spin the truth well.

  • @222jbg

You're right, it didn't begin with the Constitution, it began with the Declaration of Independence. Hahaha... That's what we call "a fail".

  • @DiscoveringReligion actually america began with the Native Americans and their gods: 1st : APOTAMKIN 2nd : RAVEN 3rd : COYOTE 4th : KWATEE 5th : MANABOZHO 6th : WENDEGO 7th : AHAYUTA-ACHI 8th : AAKULUUJJUSI 9th : SEDNA 10th : WAKAN-TANKA The mayflower was that sexy group of sinners who would have been burned to the stakes by the "true" Christians of the UK--ofA
  • @222jbg The Mayflower compact was first governing document of only the Plymouth Colony. Not any others. The document included them declaring they were "the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James,".

So declaring loyalty to the King has what to do with this country exactly? Oh yeah, jack shit.

You'd fail less hard if you didn't get your feeble knowledge of US History from Glen Beck and the other fukwits on AM radio.

  • @standingontruth1.... Suck it! Ray Comfort wannabe!

  • wow, that old lady is like everyone in america. ahhhahaa

  • Great video. But I have one small criticism. Our division of powers aren't that unique. Madison and Hamilton were copying the british system of government, as well as their common law. The U.S. executive branch mirrored the british monarchy, the senate mirrored the house of lords, the house of representatives reflected the house of commons, and then the judiciary. I think their unique contribution was to enhance the separation of powers and to separate church from state, within a federation.

  • I can't think of anyone in US history whose openly despised Xianity than Jefferson:

"The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites?"

One of the best summaries of Yahweh that I've heard

  • In this video you made TEA party activist to be religious dumbheads. Educated or not, religious or not, this group of people are tired of liberties diminishing, the out of control expansion of government, and the coming tax increases needed to fund this government. T.E.A. Taxed Enough Already. I find your videos informative but not always accurate.

  • I LOVE the look of the womans face at 5:30 she has no idea whatsoever on what they are talking about or why she is even included.

  • @Obamaluke

Some debate this has turned out to be, you're doing all the work for me! But you still haven't elaborated on how ANY of this causes my video to be "upside down". Oh well, I guess I'll never know...

  • @Obamaluke

Really? That's your method of debate? LOL. Let's assume life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are those "self evident" rights you are speaking of. Did God extend these rights to the innumerable slaves he allowed to remain in bondage under the Israelites? (Exodus 21). What about the Midianites that God commanded the Jews loot, rape, and murder? (Numbers 31) Were they extended these rights? The only thing "self evident" is that the God of the Bible is a vile monster.

  • @Obamaluke

I'm open to criticism on my videos, all I ask is that you back it up. Since you fail to provide examples of divine, natural rights and how those rights conflict with the information in my video, I'll just assume you have no idea what you are talking about. God did not give us the rights we enjoy under a democratic society. God's laws are not democratic. The only right God ever gave us was the right to be mentally enslavement by Him -- to worship God or suffer in hell for eternity.

  • @Obamaluke

How does that quote serve clarified anything? You STILL have not answered my question. What are those rights? Give me some EXAMPLES of them and how they conflict with the information in my video.

I've looked on your channel and I know you are a troll, but I'm giving you a second chance. Either provide me with an intelligible response or stop wasting my time.

  • @Obamaluke

    Stop wasting my time, douche.

  • @Obamaluke

I was asking you to clarify your above comment. What specific rights are you referring to and exactly how do they conflict with the information in my video?

  • @Obamaluke

    What rights?

  • the movie the book of Eli is a good example of what will and should happen to this world . Religion was never about following god it was and still is a way to control the weak minded people of the world. think of how much we have accomplished as a species coming from the plains of Africa to walking in space. now think just for a minute how much more we could have done in the last 2000 years if religion had simple never existed....

  • i love the comments of the people against your videos man, i really do LOL

they don't care to look for facts, and neither to be in a position (education or experience) to argue against the evidence and logic you're suggesting, and actually they don't need any scientific or teological training, and still, they troll your videos in the name of the "TRUTH" and "HIS WORD", and dark aged stuff like that

    they're brilliant haha

  • Great!

  • The rich use these fools and slither in and out of their screaming crazed. Conservatives by name

  • Many of the founding fathers were deists, not Christian. Franklin was a member of the Hell Fire club in London.

Sadly, very, very few American Christians have any knowledge of or understanding of the revolution that created this beautiful but short lived experiment in democracy.

The politicized right wing Christian is interested only in power with no interest in democracy or America's founding principles. They shit on the founding fathers and the founding document.

  • The founding fathers may have been closet atheists.

  • I think we have a misunderstanding of America and its ROLE in Scriptures ... America in the scheme of things ... does not end up GOOD when all is said & done. America though not mentioned by name, is there by "Implication". Daniel Chapters 2 & 7-12; Revelation 18 & The MANY other heraldic device's that SCREAM AMERICA! But the deception Jesus warned about is not being heeded by God's people. False Teacher, and Prophets have been leading people away. God's true flock are warned: Come out of her

  • Well the guy from tea party knows islam well

  • It is amazing how ppl always describe US to be a "christian-like" nation, but that wasnt even remotely the true goal, the Four Foundin father were very true genius people to create a free nation and with a respectful government. It is also truly outstanding how they founding fathers adapted some political aspects from Greek and Roman goverment elements, im not sure which empire was.

  • IDK what the issue is with scholars ? There just men too? Why should I believe them? 30 years I've been reading the Bible & it hasn't steered me wrong? Jannes & Jambres were two men very much against Moses. In the same way, these scholars who are against what is TRUE ...they are men who have wrong thoughts in their minds, they do not believe, and are making money off of trashing God?

One day everyone will see that they are wrong, just as people saw that Jannes and Jambres were wrong wit Mo

  • @YoCuzwaasup

You have the definitive answer of what is "TRUE"? Bullshit. Scholars make it their business to know everything about these texts there is to know. Ehrman speaks Greek, Aramaic, French and German. He has held the earliest known manuscripts of the NT in his hands and read them in their original languages. But you have been reading translations in English for 30 years? Congratulations! LOLOL. Excuse me if I don't accept the word of an amateur over the scholarly work of experts. pfffff

  • Why thank you for the complement but ... your language is typical. What I said was TRUE for my life. TRUE IS WHAT WORKS. Breathing is true, Don't breath ... what happens?

Driving drunk, and a police officer pulls you over. What happens?

Take "God's" word out of context (Or suggest) the "COPIES" were not copied correctly even as a Scholar (a.k.a. student) and in a 100 year what do you think will happen to Mr. Ehrman? He will meet the author/s & Deuteronomy 18:18-19 will be asked of him

  • @YoCuzwaasup

I understood 0% of that. Must try harder...

  • It is IMPOSSIBLE to reason “God” or “His Word” to students like you & Ehrman if you are: Going to Hell?

The Teaching of Jesus' Cross is: FOOLISHNESS to those that, Perish. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
So you UNDERSTAND: PERISH (from former Mayor, Rail Road builder & President, of the Flushing railroad, American Methodist biblical scholar & educator: Professor Strong & the effort of more than ONE HUNDRED OTHER COLLEAGUES a.k.a. SCHOLARS (Wikipedia, Dr. James Strong or Strong's Concordance) means ..

  • OK, if at your own admission, you “understand 0%” of common simple knowledge, I have to use elementary terms, & not “HARDER” cause, if my 6th grade reading level, was not simple enough I have to go lower in explaining what I meant.

1). Your derogatory answer (Bull ----) is typical of those that believe in philosophical naturalism. And, even if you did believe in the existence of a Higher Being, "Divinity" is always out of the question. If God can maintain this world, What is “ONE” BOOK?

  • 4 "Part" answer ...

  • @YoCuzwaasup

LOL. You said in your deleted comment:

"At your own admission, you, Understand 0% of common simple knowledge, I have to use elementary terms, & not “HARDER” cause, if my 6th grade reading level, was not simple enough I have to go lower in explaining what I meant. "

No, I said your response was so poorly thought out that it didnt make sense. So you have a 6th grade reading level huh? Then your claim about reading the Bible for 30 years really is an accomplishment! What a fail. LOL

  • @DiscoveringReligion dude you are harsh jajajaj lol..... hahahha i love your channel....keep comming back everytime..

  • if you believe in magical space daddies please keep it to yourself. you make yourself look stupid to educated people

  • Another superb addition to a superb series.

Thanks for some great (superb) work. : )

  • i really like your videos i was raised in a roman catholic house hold though i only belived cause my parents did i never really excepeted god in my life i was told more to fear him but now that im older i understand and your videos help me understand

    thank you very much

  • Christians don't have to follow the old laws. Christianity is a religion based on reason and moral and not rules! as morals, like Islam for instance that has a political system in it called sharia. By the way Modern Humanism was invented by a Christian. Our culture is based on Judaism/Christianity/Modern Humanism and old Greek philosophical norms and values. For example, Christians eat pork, while the old testament says that it's forbidden.

  • @Brulluhman

So Christians don't have to follow the Ten Commandment? Homosexuality is permitted under Christian law? Yeah, I didn't think so... Please watch the next episode (18) for a detailed examination of the claim that Christians are no longer required to follow Old Testament laws.

  • Wolves in sheep's clothing. Jesus warned

Don't think I came to destroy the law, or the prophets, I didn't come to destroy, but to satisfy. & until heaven & earth pass, not one dotting of the i or crossing of the t will pass from the law, till ALL is fulfilled. SO, who ever breaks one of the least commandments, & teaches men to do so, he will be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: BUT who ever will do & teach them to people, they will be called GREAT in the Administration of heaven.

  • @YoCuzwaasup What's the use of being set free from the law? Look there was this lady.. lalallalaal she cleaned the house. or .. there was this guy very rich and told .. all my life I've lived by the rules now what can I do more. Jesus told give all your money to the poor and follow the Lord. Means that the accent of Love aint the rules but Love itself. Man can make rules, within the reason, moment and short life he's given. It's God that gives reason to them.

  • Xtians left Europe to escapr oppression, only to become the oppressors in America The founders had to placate the amoral moral majority of their day by telling that group what it wanted to hear to get a job done, as how today's politicians have to do. The consequence's to Paine due to his brutal honesty in his age of reason writing hasn't been lost on politicians since, so we have been left with pandering politicians rather than leaders telling those who they lead what they need to understand.

  • It is a bit too late since Christianity have already crept into the Government and making decisions based on Dogmas of the religious zealots.

  • What if, The Bible was USED? What if God is being used? What if both sides are being played & being played AGAINST each other?

The Bible's most significant attribute is, telling an EVENT, before it happened a.k.a. Prophecy (prediction, forecasting, prognosis) Though this video is well put together, there is still a BIAS woven into it, a Bias against the Bible. It is true people do not follow LAW even Gods laws but do we throw out the BABY with the DIRTY WATER? Stop you duplicity & tell truth.

  • Both sides are being played: America (though not in name) is prophesied in the Bible. Several places in Daniel. 2:42-43 & 11:17; 11:23;11:27 Hint, code, symbolize "America".

You are half right, & God is always right. MANY human's, are evil, vicious & as Revelation stated: "It was the MERCHANTS: The GREAT MEN of the earth; that ALL PEOPLE were DECEIVED! HOW? Semantics & Video's like this, that sell "Half truths" about the truth, JESUS. You may "QUOTE" the Bible but do you know the heart of it?

  • @YoCuzwaasup

If you have ever bothered reading up on textual criticisms of the Bible you would have found countless scholars demonstrating sections of the Bible we written well after their alleged authors were believed to have lived. For example, many parts of the Bible were written in dialects or used phrases of speech that existed hundreds of years AFTER the time period they are reported to have been written. Its very easy to give prophecies after the events have already occurred.

  • Please do! Show me these Academic dishonesties because God being all about truth would not want Lies & deception in His Holy Word. Who are these (Cecil Rhodes) scholars that refute the truth of the "Wittiness"?

I would bother reading them. Did you know, though ... Isaiah 45, named "Cyrus the Great a hundred & fifty years before his birth" or Daniel 11 ... 2500 years before it's inception: told about the "League of Nations" later to be the "UNITED NATIONS"? Do these scholars quote these?

  • @YoCuzwaasup

I'd say the best for an introduction to textual criticism, as well as learning how the Bible was written and pass on, would be to start reading "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrman.

  • Mr. Ehrman like Helena Blavatsky have some similarities. Wanderers from the faith. It seems Pain and Suffering are what both struggled with. But rather than "SUBMIT" to an "All Powerful Being", that Intellectuals can't place in a box (or in a "Theses") they just attack.

Mr. Ehrman reminds me of an evolutionist desperately trying to promote a belief that doesn't have any premisses other than that of: May have,I think, could have, I belive etc...

    SEMANTICS!

    Quibbling over petty stuff.

  • @YoCuzwaasup

We have ourselves a creationist! Ehrman is a world-respected New Testament scholar, he is not "desperately" promoting anything. He has personally examined Christianity's oldest-known manuscripts and presented his findings. But it's nothing new, such distortions of the scripture are wildly known to Christian scholars. How the Bible was transcribed, translated, and distorted (both accidentally and intentionally) has nothing to do with semantics. What a weak argument.

  • Christians have National Prayer day, We should have National Punch Sarah Palin in the Face Day.

  • You are so full of crap. What a Huge Distortion of the truth!

  • @codylee2001

What a well-constructed logically sound argument in refutation to my 15 minute video of historical facts and quotations. Thanks for this comment, it will make a nice addition to my collection of trollers.

  • Have you ever read Wikipedia article on:The Protocols of the Elders of Zion?

I use a good amount of their material because I found them to be accurate & non-objectionable. That was till I looked up the above subject. This was one subject laced with: Bias, ad hominem attack, ridicule, & The "Term" conspiracy theory. This is the "ART" of Semantic's at its best. WHY?

Obviously when one needs to HIDE it's best, out in the OPEN.The Emperor's New Clothes, till a child exposes the purported plot.

  • @codylee2001 So what is the truth? or does a blanket statement based in nothing but opinion count as fact now?

  • @codylee2001

It scares some people how devout our founding fathers could be.

  • @ivlfounder It scares some people that there are a large group of Americans who ignore historical facts in order to maintain a false world view that gratifies them and gives them a sense of superiority. I E Christians who believe that all of the founding fathers were devout Christians.

  • @Plagueis1017

I'm not sure if they were all Christian but they all seemed to have been intently interested in religion.

  • @ivlfounder Of course they were. Look at the effects religion has had and continues to have on government and the lives of the people. How many countless people were tortured and horribly punished based on religious superstition? The founding fathers were interested in religion because it was an example of the type of government to avoid to them. Of course some of the founding fathers were christian, many were deist, and some were atheist. It is clear the U.S. was not made as a christian nation

  • @Plagueis1017

    "some were atheist"

    What?

    Name one.

  • So true ... Jesus said ... MANY would come saying He was the Christ & deceive MANY ... But the sad part this deception is not only from the Outside BUT the Inside as well. Read Jude3, Daniel 11:17 & Revelation 18:23b. This is why Jesus, emphatically states: "Remember then how you has received & heard, & Hold fast (guard what you have TIGHTLY), & Change your mind & way of thinking. If then you will not watch, I will bum rush you like a thug, & YOU will not know the time I will jump on you."

  • @codylee2001 Wow, that's pretty compelling argument you put forward there!

Do you have your own research team & advisors or did you write this all by yourself?

  • Where in the Bible do they talk about freedom of speech & religion or separation of powers. That is what I ask all those bs theocons.

  • Thomas Jefferson was definitely an agnostic deist.

  • Very impressive videos you've made.

  • I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST WOMEN, BUT THIS SARA, IS JUST AS IGNORANT AS BUSH !!!

  • The scene of the sharia law stoning is so powerful and scary!

  • @taladutson still happens like that today

  • At 9:55 I was thinking the EXACT same thing. And it showed up on the screen. You're brilliant :)

  • This video said; "The founders designed the American government based on a system of subjective values, where laws pertaining to moral beliefs can be voted on"

Both, "subjective values" & "voted on" identify this as democratic. Hence, the narrator is saying that a "Democracy" is what was established

Then the narrator said; "in contrast, the Bible is rooted in a system of objective morality, where moral beliefs cannot be voted on or overturned in a court of law. God's laws are absolute"

  • Both, "objective morality" & "absolute laws" identify this as "the rule of law". Which is precisely what the founders established to govern the Republic which they founded

They didn't found a Democracy. They founded a Republic, governed by the rule of law (US Const.) Indeed, as with the Bible, the Constitution cannot be voted on or overturned by a court. However, due to the erosive effects of secularism upon the judicial system, the US Constitution has been compromised & overturned in courts

  • This video is pure hogwash. When the Christians first arrived in America, they established each of the colonies according to "Covenant Theology". This means they drafted a contract which would serve for the colony in the same role as the US Constitution would later. The colonists entered into a contract with God, in which if they fulfilled their obligation of faithfully serving God, then they believed that God would fulfill his by ensuring their general welfare. This was enacted as a response to

  • God's promises made to faithful believers within the Bible. Later, the events of the Declaration of Independence & the War of Independence & its outcome, were the resultant, manifested culmination of their predecessor's Covenant Theology

The Colonists were citizens of Britain. Thus, their military might was that of their country...Britain. However, upon declaring independence, that might would be taken from them, turned against them & it would immediately be crossing the Atlantic, to make war

  • @Chuichupachichi

........ what are you talking about? The colonist didn't really have a military the Empire's soldiers were over here. To be honest the colonies in America had it the best, taxed the least, left alone, had the world's strongest military protecting them,, Just sayin'. Most of the reasons why we rebelled was due to poor policy decision making courtesy of King George.

  • The Colonists knew that by all human reasoning, they could not win a war against Britain. However, they believed that since theirs was a noble, righteous cause, that God would see them to victory. Indeed, the Colonist's battle-cry during the war was; "rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God". When the British captured clergymen, they treated them like military officers, since they knew them to be the leaders of the fighting men. The fact that by all human reasoning, the Colonists couldn't win,

  • was reflected in Washington's losing battle record. Nevertheless, they were victorious, Lord Cornwallis was in disbelief & the Colonists credited the "Providence of God" for the victory... precisely as they had been expecting

Never mind the question of whether or not America was founded a Christian nation. That is simply a silly matter over which to wage a cultural war. The fact of the matter is that America was born from a step of faith

    "Covenant Theology" fulfilled

  • I finally get it. Christian conservatives are so used to interpreting the bible any way they want to reflect what they want it to say, they simply apply the same way of thinking to the constitution! Eureka! ... Come to think of it, I guess that was pretty obvious, but it just hit me now :)

  • Seriously im sick of videos like this that set up a straw man for Christianity to tear down and to burn- - very very poorly researched, seriously, Old Testament Christianity could possibly be Sharia Law if its tenants were the law today, but there is NO SUCH THING AS OLD TESTAMENT CHRISTIANITY. The Old Testament religion is in fact Judaism - the ten commandments = Judaism. Old Testament + New Testament = Christianity. New Testament/Christian politics = Democratic leaning towards socialism.

  • @joshmcfly

Yes, the ideology of the New Testament and Christ reflect socialistic values but clearly that doesn't reflect the political leanings of the mass majority of Christians in the United States. It is basically a necessity for a politician to be a Christian if he or she is to be a Republican candidate for any public office. Also, you even mention yourself, Christians do believe in the Old Testament, despite the inconsistencies between the New and Old. It's a pick and choose religion.

  • @joshmcfly

well you should watch the whole series. I don't see how facts can shake up your belief. This guy has went out of his way to say that right wing christians are very much at odds with many many other christians within the country. To be honest I believe right wing evangelicals to be the ones following the false prophets that Jesus has warned about. Because trust me they are not about helping the poor, and needy. They do everything to disempower them then have them come to church. wtf

  • FREEDOM!!!

  • hëhe_äÑYOÑË_wÁÑñâ_chÀt_wíth_me_ï_fÈél_só_lÒñèlY_toDÄY∟

  • Fantastic video but it has one flaw. Even though you did define Deism well you failed to point out that the God of Deism is not the Christian god, which is the god of abraham. Therefore The founders didnt believe in the "God" of the political right, but in the God of Nature. And besides the laws of evolution no more disprove the God of Nature no more than the laws of Newton. Deism-Atheism

  • "...it would be another 83 years until Charles Darwin would publish On the Origin of Species therefore what indication did these men have to believe in anything other than the dominant views of their era."

The roots of naturalistic thinking in biology can be dated to at least the 6th century BCE, with the Greek philosopher Anaximander.

  • @Mr1h8rats

Yes, but the Greek philosophers were only guessing, their ideas werent based on fact. Darwin was the first to present evolution as a cohesive theory, backed by factual evidence -- thus he is credited with its discovery. People of the 18th Century were infused with religious belief, devoid of any factual knowledge of evolution. So why would we expect them to have believed in anything other than the pervasive views of their era? Indeed, Darwin was mocked when he presented his findings.

  • Thank you.For telling it how is was.I hope others will be open.

  • Thank you.

  • wow, Jefferson's bible would have been pretty bloody thin

  • @OBAMAINFANTICIDE

And that's coming from someone with the handle "ObamainFanticid". LOLOLOLOL. Ahhhh the irony is palpable on that one.

  • @OBAMAINFANTICIDE your user name prevents from me taking anything you say serious because you are a tad touched.

  • @OBAMAINFANTICIDE Even the biggest tyrants and kings all said their government was based on God's will or law. So those European kings and emperors back then were wrong too?

  • @OBAMAINFANTICIDE You are laughable... Why does the constitution seperate the state from religion? because the founders were escaping religious persecution and control and they saw the negative effects that can arrise. Also, in your close-minded assessment, all religions other than christianity can be excluded as acceptable in this context. This was definately NOT what the founders wanted.

  • ha, if funny how this vid talks about equality and bigotry and then says a mother has the right to choose to kill their child. Please don't talk about equality when you don't recognize the equality and rights of the unborn. more people have been killed by abortion than all the Crusades combined.

  • @CreedChrist Life is killed every day, it's part of life. When you eat meat, you agree with the unnecessary ending of life. Abortion is de freedom of a mother to end a living part of herself. It is not yet a person, nor should it be seen that way. Think about this: when a woman is raped, should she be forced by the government to let the resulting life grow inside of her? Should she be seen as a murderer if she wants to end it? Abortion isn't allowed on any day during the pregnancy either.

  • @dutchbb1979 please. The food chain is a natural cycle within God's natural law. The animals were created for humans. Abortion is not "freedom". It is taking away the freedom and rights of the unborn child. Even if the mother is raped it is not the childs fault. It is the direct killing of an innocent person who cannot defend itself. You can't punish the unborn for what adults do. If a woman does not want a child she should stop whoring around.

  • @CreedChrist

"If a woman does not want a child she should stop whoring around." Is that what you would tell your mother or sister if they got raped? That's some cold shit man, fucking cold.

  • Comment removed

  • @DiscoveringReligion no. But killing the child doesn't solve anything, and it isn't the child's fault. Secondly Abortion in rape cases happens in less than 2% of all abortion cases. The other 98% are killing their children for such shallow selfish reasons. I remember hearing one woman got an abortion so she could be able "to go to the baseball game the same day".

  • @CreedChrist You immediately go from protesting that rape cases are rare to an anecdotal story with no evidence that this type of story happens any meaningful percent of the time.

"I heard one time" doesn't count in arguments. You need real statistics.

Anyway, the fact that only a small percentage of women getting abortions were raped does not mean that we shouldn't recognize their pain. DR's point was that you say women shouldn't "whore around" when most of them aren't.

  • @colossus999 the percent is around 2-4%, depending on which page you read. It is very small. And either way, it is NOT THE CHILDS FAULT, and thus the child has his own right to live.

  • @CreedChrist I'm sorry, I was unspecific in my language. I meant that you assume that all of the ones that aren't by rape are shallow and selfish. How about older women who thought they were infertile at their age and have a higher risk for the child being deformed? how about Young girls who used birth control and thus had no reason to expect pregnancy?

  • @colossus999 Hey, how bout we just kill everyone because they might have a chance of being deformed or causing problems. *facepalm*

if young girls wanna whore around with birth control, which is also immoral, then getting pregnant is their own fault for whoring around and having a bastard child. If you don't wanna get pregnant don't have sex. Its a christian trait called chastity. Young western women should try it sometime.

  • @CreedChrist Oh, so you just expect to to accept that premarital sex is immoral when you have made literally no arguments to demonstrate this?

You misrepresent my argument, though I'll accept what you've said, again, for the sake of argument. Let's say the fetus is a person. If it is a person, it is a person that has no real perception of the world around it. It cannot feel pain. It cannot be disappointed or hurt by not being alive. Who, exactly, are we harming by killing the fetus?

  • @CreedChrist Besides this, you continually refer to it as a child, which is understandable given the culture you likely grew up in. For the sake of argument I'll use the word child. Can you show that the child has any interest in continuing to live? At the state of pregnancy most abortions take place by, the child has had no experience of the world. It has not experienced pain. What harm are we causing it by preventing it from developing further?

  • @CreedChrist Is sperm an 'unborn child'? Is an ovum? How can you talk about a child when we're only dealing with some random cells that can not be considered life? A rape is something that shouldn't have happened, we have the opportunity to set it right. I find it funny that you are so obsessed with life (like this planet needs more humans, right...), but you have no respect for the freedom of that life. You want to force women to do something, what gives you that right? And don't tell me god.

  • @dutchbb1979 oh please, not the "buncha cells" argument. Sorry. After conception it is its own DISTINCT being with a full set of human chromosomes. Like I said, killing a child only makes it worse. It is not the childs fault.

  • @CreedChrist But it's not a person, it's the first step in the *possible* formation of life / a being. The problem with christians is that they see rape as something that should have happened, because it's all part of god's great plan. And therefore it must have a soul... Sorry but it's really up to the mother if she want's to continue with having offspring. You'd be right if she would end the life after a certain period of time, because it would be against the law, but in this case it isn't.

  • atheist and libertarian, nothing is better than protecting the rights of the people who deserve to live a free life without abuse of power.

  • Why is it that at 1:01 on the world map of countries governed by Sharia Law includes Guyana and Suriname?

  • Any other atheist libertarians out there? Come on, I know we're watching this!

  • I don't really have any opinion on this subject since I am Jewish and not Christian or an atheist but I was wondering how the Blue Laws factor in to all of this? To quote Wikipedia:

" These Sunday laws enacted at the state and local levels would sometimes carry penalties for doing non-religious activities on Sunday as part of an effort to enforce religious observance and church attendance...Some of these laws still exist today."

  • @WaysOfMan At the state and local level, the bill of rights wasn't enforced until around the turn of the twentieth century. There was plenty of religious persecution happening in the states. The bill of rights just protected people from the federal government.

  • Restaurationism (4:33) probably should be Restorationism...

  • sarah palin always cracks me up...i (as a non us) would have laughed my balls off if she had become VC

  • Nationalist, libertarian, constitutionalist, atheist. Any questions?

  • I love your serie, very well done and gives a better explantion then most commercial made ones.

  • I don't know any Christians who say that the founders were devoutly religious, however, they were a product of a civilization that possessed certain Christian assumptions. Many of the founders were Christians, namely Calvinists however, which is a very rigid form of Christianity. This debate is so retarded, this country is founded on enlightenment principles as well as Christian values and Christian metaphysical assumptions.

  • @v01741r31 Thomas jefferson was certainly not a calvinist.

You say you are a Calvinist. I am not. I am of a sect by myself, as far as I know.

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Ezra Stiles Ely, June 25, 1819

He was a Unitarian deist. He believed in a supreme creator and believed that creator to be the god of christianity. However, he rejected the divinity of christ and would mock/criticize the church for propagating such beliefs.

  • @ThatGuyWhoSucksBoobz

Yes I know. He was certainly against organized religion, of which, I don't really necessarily blame him. He also rejected many doctrines and miracles.

  • @TJae1 TJ CAN'T LET IT BE HE'S A DUMB ASS

  • fuck yeah new left media!

  • Ugh, the Declaration of Independence did not create the foundation of America. It was freaking declaration of independence! Declaring to be free! America's government and values were created well after the fact.

  • Why the hell did you include Russia in the Islamic countries map? >_>

  • Our kuntree wuz fowndid on teh wurd ov God newbz!

  • THANK YOU for being so fucking intelligent and explaining everything in a way that makes TOTAL sense. I still don't understand how soooooooooooo many people still believe in all this religious bullshit!!!

Understanding WHY religions exist in the first place can be so simple if people would just get educated!

We have to stop this "christian nation" from forming.

  • it's a religious country that became more secular ~ w/ the school system anyway ~

  • Nice series. Obviously, allot of work went into it. Have you considered joining the Zeitgeist movement? We could use a person with your knowledge.

  • @pe700

Thank you =) To be honest, I havent looked into the zeitgeist movement as much as I would like, although I find it very interesting. Its a little difficult for me to comprehend how a non-monetary based world society would function though. Without money there really isnt much incentive to engage in manual types of labor nor would there be a driving force behind the competitive marketplace to improve upon consumer goods. Im sure these questions are answered somewhere though.

  • @DiscoveringReligion You are correct these have been answered. Since YouTube will not allow me to put in hyper-links, so check the Venus Project website. The Zeitgeist videos are linked there, too. Blogtalk radio with Peter-Joseph especially lectures 2, 3 and 4.

    Take Care!

  • @DiscoveringReligion have you heard of these nutjobs that believe in this thing called "the myth of separation"? some authors have argued that separation of the church and state was not something the founding fathers wanted. however, I wanna know ur opinion on the matter.

  • @DiscoveringReligion The proposed monetary system would be the person's ability and the resources they make. It sounds nice, conceptually, but the world is too tied in with capitalism while the Venus Project is socialist in comparison.

  • @DiscoveringReligion : You're right, a lot of zeitgeist I consider mumbojumbo, although I've checked their videofacts on religion and it proves my point, all religions come from egypt and before, so you don't have to prove that all "holy" books are wrong, because they are. Removed all mumbojumbo from the zeitgeist movie and started a 30 min movie with : This is the sun and showed it to a lot different people and they all said sh*t, and I replied holy sh*t. :-) Keep up the good work!!!

  • what's the name of the song of the oppening?

  • this country will became communist or religion base this country is changing in front of ur eyes i love this country but i will turn a shit hole and it is turning

  • My "prof" told me that when he graduated med school the alumni that gave the speech to the graduating class pronounced to them that they were now part of an elite cast above that of "normal people." Clearly you believe this type of elitist none sense. Please watch Reason.tv and catch a clue. I sat through this dretch, It was painful. Sit through a few hours of REASON. PLEASE.

  • @DiscoveringReligion Well maybe I should do more research and actually make a video, but w/o doing more than a modicum of research at the moment, right at this moment in time I would say it is evident that the most radically outspoken people with political power to enforce others to follow their religious values, are invariably economic illiterates who bash/ignore the Constitution, ie Bush./Pelosi
