this was the chopper on airwolf that was always the prey of the wolf, but I'm sure in a real dogfight there would be a lot of downed bell 222's. These are just to manuverable and fast. But I am surprized that they said it is very durable. Wonder how it would do againest an apache....

I flew this ship and mission in Vietnam in '69 and '70 for the 3/4 Cav along the Cambodian border. Flew one back with 63 entrance holes on one side of the ship. Wrong place to slow down and look....we were all (3) hit and the ship was trashed but it made it about 3 miles to a fire support base where we made a crash landing between the O group and the rest of the company of ARVN infantry doing morning formation on the landing strip. I believe we startled them.

It is nicknamed the Little Bird, but I guess that's the present day name, the loach was the 60's and Cayuse was when it first flew, but I fly these in FSX and they really are fun to fly and manuverable

Cayuse is the type's official nickname (Vietnam to today.) The unofficial nickname for these scouts in Vietnam was Loach. The Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), flies a modern and somewhat modified incarnation. The unofficial nick name for those is little bird.

The OH-6 Cayuse is nicknamed "Loach" or sometimes "egg, killer egg". OH=observation helicopter

The MH-6 and AH-6 are called Little Bird. They were originally based on the OH-6. They are special forces and attack versions respectively.

The Cobra is a helicopter for a 100% different role. The OH6 was designed to be small and very maneuverable. The Cobra always has been an larger attack helicopter.  Both kick ass in there particular roles and neither of them could do the others job as well.
