These bears didn't evolve in this area, they migrated there a long time ago and adapted to the new habitat. They are quite capable of adapting to this natural climate change. When it becomes impossible for the bears to use the ice flows as rest stops on the trip north after giving birth to their young in the warmer areas, they will most likely migrate entirely to the mainland where they can find different sources of food. Even if they DO go extinct, they're at the top of the food chain!
Let me start out by saying that CO2 caused global warming or any other idea of man-made climate change is BUNK!
I agree that the polar bears are not in the danger the al gores and greenpeaces of the world are claiming they are. Just ask the innuit who live up north, they'll tell you that the bears numbers are higher than ever.
However, their argument is based on baby polar bears downing because they don't have enough strength as the mothers are migrating earlier due to the early melt.
global warming is such bull, the sun expands and contrasts on a cycle of about 12 years, look where I live its snowing, in the middle of spring, it hasn't done that in over fifty years, not including last year. Even time magazine though that an ice age was on its way years ago. I don't deny that we need to change our ways but its not killing the planet, termites put out more carbon emissions than we do, we are actually the 5th largest producer of carbon, right after the ocean.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service estimates that the polar bear population is currently at 20,000 to 25,000 bears, up from as low as 5,000-10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. A 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations may now be near historic highs.
and now GW is killing thousands of arctic walruses ... because there just wasn't enough space on the GW ice to support the thousands of walruses ... so they died by the thousands ... but like the rushie neocons and the pope has said ... animal deaths mean nothing ... only human lives mean anything .. therefore nothing needs to be done about GW ... but the thousands were water boarded ... i mean actually drowned ... walruses aren't swimmers like seals
We are IN an "Ice Age" now. When/If global temps heat up to normal, the walruses (and all species, including Man) will just adapt or it will be "lights out" for them. Life is not always easy. (Understatement)
What an annoying video. This makes me want to kill all the polar bears in order to prevent a sequel.

You know what happens to polar bears when they stop paddling? THEY FLOAT. Find something else to bitch and moan about you fucking whiny morons.

Contrasts huh? How about before you try to sound intelligent you become intelligent.

Global warming is not bull. I use to think it was bull too until I did research on it. You should watch the inconvenient truth it tells most of it.

I like polar bears too. But they have experienced this before. And they managed to adapt. Thus they are still with us today! I am glad, too.
