  • This video shows that evolutionists are nothing but morons.

  • @austere125rivers Nonsense. God created the Big Bang and let everything go its way.

  • Very nice this is the first time ive seen this

  • one of the most coolest, educational videos i've ever seen. Good Job My Friend. i currently own a venus flytrap, drosera capensis and a Sarracenia purpurea. these plants are just amazing. very good plant to Own

  • @TlalocChak Thanks a lot. Unfortunately I did not find any education publisher who wants to buy it...

  • Tolles Vid!

  • Great job on recording this amazing phenomenon!...if i can be so bold and make a suggestio, you might want to add some music to this ...the video wold be so captivating..thank you for sharing this

  • @Panameflower

Unfortunately Youtube does not allow to update videos.

  • @keepthefunk

    Too bad, I forgot it's name :)

  • @Lenzp

    what did you forget? :)

  • @keepthefunk

    ...what plant it is.

Ehhh... wait... perhaps the name is written somewhere...?

  • This video is sped up approximately 49850x

    1month/52sec * 3600sec/hour * 24hour/day * 30days/month = 49850

The video I'm working on is 691,200x

    8days/sec * 3600sec/hour * 24hour/day = 691,200

not that its a competition or anything

  • This video has been inspirational.

I myself am working on a season long VFT time lapse which will cover 9 months. I am taking 1 photo per day. I am 1 month in and the results look great so far.

    Stay tuned!

  • I had a venus fly trap. What an amazing plant. Great video.

  • awesome video!

  • which month was this filmed during?

  • @MrMusicstone

I don't remember exactly, but it was in the summer.

  • That looked really cool. I'm thinking of growing one of these soon... and cool camera work too.

  • Is it a picture a day?

  • Please read the description and calculate yourself.

  • I didn't come here to have a maths lesson. I suggest you stop being rude to everyone in the comments, I expected a response like that.

  • Of course you have to expect an answer like that if you ask questions which have been answered only a short time ago. Nobody should expect me to invest more time in a reply, as he has invested in the search for an answer, which is in your case only 10 or 12 comments below.

Such questions, which no one has asked before, will be gladly answered in detail.

  • This is great footage, i love time lapse it brings plants to a time scale humans can understand.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • very cool machine you made there... i'm impressed. did an amazing job.

  • Hi, I really like your timelapse technique, the results are excellent. I've responded with my take on the same subject (which was my first still life time lapse), I hope you like it.

  • lol ive never ever seen the life cycle of a venus flytrap. it was actually really cool :D

  • hi

you vft owners should join the flytrapcare . com community. we can answer all your questions

  • `wow i checked out your machine for moving the camera, genious !!! couldnt understand the german text tho

  • That is a truly wonderful piece of video work - 5 Star rating! As you may know, flytraps are VERY slow growing, taking typically up to 3 years to reach a decent total size.

  • this is amazing, Lenz. THIS is the video i've been looking for ; one that actually shows me frame by frame how it grows! I couldn't figure out how the heck those buds turned into the chomping beast until now. thx again

  • what the fuck...? how did you take that video? (don't answer "by getting a cam and recording it")

  • What prevented you from reading the description of my video???

  • i read that description, but i didn't freaking understand it at all... what machine? don't you need a camera for it only? but for a video cam to record such a long video, that's just nuts... which is why i asked how you did that...

  • I used a video camera, but I did not record the whole video, I used a video input board and stored 1 picture each 10 minutes.

  • lol best reply ever XD

  • that does'nt say much about software. and you homepage does'nt say anything at all if you dont speak english

  • It's not my fault if you don't know Babelfish.

  • 4 weeks? wow that was fast

  • Very nicely done. Love the transition of the angles.

  • wow thanks for the upload, the truth is that most people would think of uploading only the eating parts (as mentioned in the description). this is really original and fascinating :D

  • To be completely honest, I dont really know how a "plant" can move after being stimulated in tha way. Can someone explain please...

  • Youtube shows videos.

    Wikipedia gives knowledge.

    Please don't mix them up.

  • In case you're not very good at comprehension, he said "Go look it up in Wikipedia!"

  • This is amazing! I love the way you made the camera angle change!

  • I'm Very impressed this is an amazing video.

I'm very surprised we need more people like you on youtube.

  • very,VERY,nicly done i showed my mum this vidio and she was facinated (she is a scientist very hard to impress id no)...

  • Wonderfully done! It's amazing what processes these plants go through.

  • Indeed, very nicely done. Bravo!

  • Cool vid. I shipped 4 VFT from BC. I think time lapse is awesome. did that take a year for that to get that big. 2005/2006.

  • I don't know. I bougth a grown-up plant.

  • It Takes About 4 weeks

  • Wow! Nicely done

  • incredible!

  • What software could you use to make this ?

  • It was completely self-written in Rapid-Q.

  • Great video, I just bought a Venus. I was wondering how did you make this video, how long did it take?

  • What about simply reading the description???

  • try making one where it's flowering i'm curious about how that would look like :) (mine's currently flowering but im gonna cut it since it's to weak to do this)

  • Meinen vollen Respekt. Diese Aufnahmen könnnte man eigentlich für eine absolut hochwertige Doku verwenden. und die maschine die du dafür gebaut hast hätte nen award verdient. Also verdammt gute arbeit.

  • oh thats sooo cool *-* thanks for making this^^

  • I've never seen a time-lapse video of CPs before. Pretty sweet!

  • Amazing... how you got your machine to track and pan whilst still taking shots of the flytrap. Great stuff.

  • Great video!

  • how it develops its "jaws" is scary

  • But... but... i saw this on an educational site!

  • On which site, please?

  • I saw it on a google web site... im sorry but i dont remember which one. I havent visited google in a while...:( sorry!

  • They have this Vid on Wikipedia for the article Venus flytrap. lol you sure this is yours?

  • I put my video into Youtube and Wikipedia.

  • Love the way you follow that same trap all the way man. p.s. i got one today they rock :)

  • Amazing dude... the videos is impresive. How long it took you to get this done? Great great video, congrats.

  • How long... what? The video? 4 weeks. To build the machine? Several months.

  • your film -machine- is not just a machine with the optic encoders motors etc. this can be called a - ROBOT

  • Thanks - but no, it is not a robot because it could not act alone. Every day I had to watch it several times and adjust the speed and direction of the movements.

  • i don't know why, but this is terrifying to me! but the filming is done in an amazing way. nice job!

  • Wow that was truly amazing. The reason I love Youtube!

  • Really interesting... never really thought of how the "mouth part" catcher grows... but now I know!

  • Today I get very many comments. Is this video published somewhere else? Please let me know, thanks.

  • It's on the SPOTLIGHT man

  • Which Spotlight? Sorry, no idea...

  • on the main video page, they have rotating spotlight videos.. just click one the videos link right above the search bar and the first video on top is the spotlight video.

  • click on the video tab and its at the top!!

  • lol click on the videos tab and ull see

btw wat was the time frame for this video

  • 1 frame per 10 minutes.

  • The spotlight is a special youtube honor to a video.

  • Click on Videos on the colun where it says Home Video Etc, then you'll see your video. Good Job by the way.

  • when you click videos on the tool bar at the top it has this video at the top of the page.

  • Ah, now I see. Thanks for the information. Funny... this video is now 1 year on youtube and now finally they discover it :)

BTW, "Four years of fly trap growth compressed into four minutes" is absolute nonsense, see my description.

  • SPotlight just means youtube sort of featured it or promoted the video

  • If you go to Most Viewed, Most Discussed, etc. Your video is the spotlight video at the top. :)

  • On the front page of youtube

  • VERY Cool, must have been lots of work, I like the one trap catching something in the background at about 30 seconds, Great job!

  • Awesome camera mount

  • That was pretty good, but a bit too much close up, you should have pulled back a little.

  • This video was not intented to show the whole plant, but only the growth of one single trap. That's why it is like that.

  • You did an excellent job. He obviously doesn't understand what you were going for with the panning.

  • Amazing! The machine you made to film it is also incredible, its looks so complex!

  • wow, thats sweet! It's amazing how plants start out simple and small and then they grow into something really awesome! :D

  • wow, that was really great! I'd think people think I'm weird for saying this, but it's like a miracle... so awe-inspiring :)

  • LOL... at :29 you can see a trap close really fast in the background too. Nicely done, very informative.

  • That was awesome video work.

  • The link in your video doesnt work.

  • Yes, it does. But it is in German language, probably not useful for you...?

  • i just got a small venus fly trap plant. i learned you dont put them in fertilizer and they need alot of sun but does anyone else have any useful tips for me i could use.. id appreciate it.

  • boil water and trap the vapors to make distilled water its ideal for it, also put the pot in a container with a few pebbles in it and water so that the pot is slightly over the water which helps humidity

  • plant them in a 50-50 mixture of peat moss and pearlite, and remember don't throw them out if they look like they die in winter, they r just hibernating :)

  • how long of a time period is this?

  • I think I wrote it in the description, didn't I?

  • This video is absolutely spectacular, one of the best videos I've seen, of any category, in my life...

    Props.

  • Four weeks.

  • Very interesting and great video. Good that you have put it in wikipedia too. I must say that this is much more interesting than watching Diones catching bugs.

  • acid or sometiype of thing that melts them

  • wow it looks awesome almost like a never-ending growth of traps xD

i got 40 seeds but i need the dirt to plant them in

orchid soil which u can find at home depot xD

    ot walmart whichever u refer

  • are those teeth sharp?

  • They are no teeth and they are not sharp. They are only a kind of prison bars to prevent the trapped fly from escaping.

  • what exactly kills the prey?

any acids or just squashed to death?

  • I am sure you find all those answers in Wikipedia.

  • i've been trying too grow one for years but they have never ever sprouted for me!!!! damn! i just want to know when the first sighn of green was?

  • I did not grow them, I bought grown-up plants in a pot. And I must admit that they die rather fast, just time enough to make this video. I am no expert about growing any plants.

  • was that speeded up

  • that so wicked!!dude nice job thats cool

  • compliments for your video !

    LOL !

  • been growing them for years but, never seen them grow ! amazing ! thanks.

  • almost beautiful in a way

  • very nice quality.

  • waaah! that was so cool. xD

  • Crisp video

  • thats beautiful. just bought myself a number of carnivorous plant seeds.

  • They probably won't grow. Got them from Dunecraft? Correct? I'm a carnivorous plant enthusiast. I should make a video about it.

  • awesome footage! damn nice!

  • Man that is the shit, youtube needs more of these videos.

  • man i just love these kinds of videos

  • did u fast foward, ? cuz i saw no light change

  • wow i love these plants. they are so interesting

  • amazing footage!

  • thats awesome o.o

  • Awesome!

  • yep that could be wicked if it kill one of it's own traps lol ^^ that much happens sometimes in the nature

  • ...No it doesn't.

  • What does not what?

  • Someone said that Nepenthes eat their own pitchers in the wild, so I said no they don't because they don't, that's absurd.

  • So I would suggest that you add your comment right there.

  • Oops, I meant this guy said that Venus Flytraps eat their own traps. Click page two and don't be ignorant, recent comments, whether replies to old comments or not show up on the front page too. You'll see I was responding to ThunderWindz...

  • Amazing... I went to page 2 and found your comment again. Then I went back to the recent page and your comment had disappeared. Now it's only on page 2. Sorry, I didn't know this behavior of the Youtube software.

  • It's okay :).

  • Wow that's a very cool video, and very cool that the time lapse camera moved. It looked a lot smoother than most time lapse i've seen./

  • I saw that on Wikipedia.

  • einfach toll!

  • It is a time-lapse video, the original time length was about four weeks. I built a machine which takes one picture every 10 minutes and than moves the camera a little bit. You can see it on w w w (dot) lenz-online (dot) de/aboutme/history/venus0.htm

  • was that in real-time or over periods of time? The only reason I'm asking this is cuz the camera was moving. otherwise i wouldve assumed it was over periods of time

  • wow - very nice work with the camera moving...

  • Amazing!Very cool video

  • love it! something so common is really miraculous.

  • And this was in German ... hmm.

  • hmm... what?

  • It got 4 honors all of them state as a subcategory in Germany. I was being ironic there i did like the video.
