@Jesse2b93 Red kites were hunted to dangerously low levels as many folk considered them a threat to their smaller animals, like ducks and chickens. In reality, despite their appearance, they're scavengers.

You'll see a lot of them are tagged due to an intensive re-introduction program that's been going on for a while. I've photographed the same few kites in numerous places in my county. They cover quite a bit of ground!

These are not eagles if they were they would be called that sure they are part of the Accipitridae but there are hawks, buzzards, eagles, harriers and some vultures in that family with the kites. Plus the tags are to keep track of the birds because i think they are protected species since they were extinct in England at one point. And i believe there are no wild Red kites in the US i may be wrong but i don't think so.
