  • Live at pompeii is the best live album. It's the only live version of echoes I really loved. However the live version of this on Ummagumma is the best version they ever did IMO.

  • this video trips me out sober.

  • I love this song!!!

  • created 40 years ago and is still better than what is out there now

  • sighs... a classic

  • Nick Mason, Kicking ass while wearing a butterfly t-shirt

  • holy shit how cool would have been to smoke a joint and watch them jam in pompeii

  • Truly beautiful song.

  • what an eargasm waters gives us

  • i'm fliyin' to the other side

  • Society,

    This is music...

    Atte: Pink Floyd

  • Pure magic!!! it's like feeling your soul bleeding into the universe whilst frantically trying to keep a hold of it, but you just have no other option but to let go and drift through the cosmos

  • Love that ending. "You ought to know, you're the director." Gets me every time.

  • mr.waters teach damn screamo assholes how to do it!!

  • this song is about a roadie who worked for pink floyd, he was carrying a guitar and roger shouted not to drop it. in a trip on LSD they reformed the story and made it look like an axe murder.

  • This is best version of this song. I wanted to buy this as an MP3 but the available version doesn't crunch like this one does and I don't think that the CD is available. So I consider myself lucky to have taped this before I stupidly sold my album ages ago.

  • I LOVE TO LISTEN TO WEED WHILE SMoking pink floyd ddddddddafhiafga

  • genius in every single second. my brain melts in with the music. my breath turns slower, my eyes wider, my eyes close, the stars laugh at my soul, and i just go with the flow

  • nothing compares

  • you don't listen to pink floyd you experience it

  • @podhead2112 So true. Especially with early Pink Floyd (Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Atom Heart Mother, Ummagumma, Meddle). The later Pink Floyd is so-so, but especially with the early Pink Floyd, you are so correct.

  • I'm never quite ready for that scream when it comes. Waters isn't my favorite person these days, but I have to admit, you have to be a true artist to sing like he does.

  • in 2012 this shit is still ahead of our time.

  • This thing is beyond music.

  • So mystic.... now we have so much bullshit.

Btw Apologize for what music done to my generation.

  • Todays music just dosen't have it, the 60's and the 70's were the best. Big Pink Floyd fan.

  • Down, down. Down, down. The star is screaming.

Beneath the lies. Lie, lie. Tschay, tschay, tschay.

Careful, careful, careful with that axe, Eugene.

    The stars are screaming loud.

    Tsch.

    Tsch.

    Tsch.

  • In the 80s they remixed this under the title "Careful with that fax, Eugene"

  • Hello Floydians,

Please, could someone write for me what Roger is saying?

    I'm Czech....

    Love to you all

  • @AtomHeartedMother he is just murmuring words :)

  • @AtomHeartedMother ... nothing ... just Be careful ... believe in God ... it's shame ... and Careful with that axe eugene

  • @AtomHeartedMother Hey, check out ''Pinkflotdability''s comment. I guess he forgot to click the ''reply'' button.

  • I will not be careful with "that axe"

    You gene.

  • Rolisisiisma!!!

  • Best. Video. Ever

  • Best song EVER

  • pink floyd dejo la vara alta

  • Careful with that Axe Eugene isn't a song...it's an experience.

  • @cyberwaffles Pink Floyd isn't a band, it's THE Experience.

  • @biopozzi

  • After a long day at work... nothing relaxes like a brew and a surreal PF song, with lava/Pompei. Awesome.

  • this was post-rock 20 years before post-rock

  • Best song title ever and a great tune!!

  • You're the absolute best GilmourTrueHD!

  • So freaky..........just love it!

  • This is much more than just a music.

  • @Pismenost exactly!

  • ♥♥♥

  • 6:03 FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!

  • OH btw, metal fags should hear what actual scream is :)

  • @Rizagobelez Their screaming is pointless. xD

  • @Pismenost when u don't get the point it is-

  • This band, these guys, these awesome songs which brings us eargasms.... I love these guys, they are mylife, everything i do, i do with their songs... I kneel down before these masters <3

  • meddle is way up there when it comes to brilliance

  • fucking brilliant

  • Please,a thumbs up if you like the original more than the directors cut

  • @BACasey81 LOL!!! You're probably right

  • 16 personas estan idiotas por escuchar tanto pop

  • best screams ever!!!!!

after them Maynard's ticks and leeches....

  • @mdhormaz agreed!!

  • would Eugene ever listen?

  • intensely sweet..

  • and the dislikes were because of what???

  • @BACasey81 The dislikes are because 16 people named Eugene have had accidents involving axes.

  • if the word epic should be described with a song, that would be it

  • absolutely stunning moments for humanity...

  • The best performance in the history of music...

  • @thedearpsychonaut yes who you think posted this?

  • this kinda sounds like the gunsling by black veil brides

  • a new year entered with floyd = good year

  • I feel like we've only gone backwards since this

  • @ringowasbest Maybe but Radiohead aren't bad.

  • @Superjodi1969 Radiohead and many more brother, you just have to know where to look for it

  • amazing,so cool.

  • you guys see in the right hand lower corner it says "gilmour true HD" ?

  • Nick Mason, the best drummer ever. Until Pink Floyd became ultra popular

  • I love how Nick taps the cymbals throughout the entire song.-3

  • I used to have never heard this song, then I took a link to the search bar.

  • to the people that disliked this you were obviously not careful with your axe

  • How is Roger able to scream like that? It's so awesome I want to do it!

  • Pink floyd till I died :D

  • Waters expanded my vision of grunts.

One of the best guttural voices i've heard.

  • la catastrofe di Pompei

  • 'you ought to know, you're the director'

    Oh! Jolly good i say!

  • This song scares the s--t out of me...

    But is so freaking awesome!

  • indescriptible

  • @khunter50 Um, I think he was the stone-like fellow in the beginning with his arse towards the camera. Elusive one, that.

  • @Alternatenorth that or he's a robot that went haywire in 1981... Hint hint wink wink nudge nudge nod nod

  • 6:11 is that really how Dave talks?

  • @MrStark3y Synthesizers and the mixture of his original voice ;)

  • un regalo de los dioses¡¡¡

  • Today's mainstream music needs to contain something about sex just to sell, whether it be the music video or the lyrics. It all just makes me cringe so much. However, there is still some good music out there :D

    /watch?v=-MA0m1K2jW4

  • @djangolian123 Materialism, sex, popularity. That is all the brainwashed masses care about anymore. The elite have the poor in their pockets.

  • @annoythefish You are so right buddy.

  • CWTAE is so meant to be played at night

  • 14 dislikes?away back tae the abba website ya numpties.

  • omg Gilmours laugh at 06:08 ! :D

  • Do you think Adrian Mayben ask permission to BBC Radio One for inserting an excerpt of the John Peel Sunday Concert in his film ????????? Let's check !

  • I synced this music with 'The Raven' read by James Earl Jones.

    Yes, I know I'm crazy.

  • Iv'e grown up listening to nothing but 60's and 70's music since i was about 5, I'm now 13 and I still can't listen to a lot of modern music without cringing. The only way to describe Pink Floyd is musical art and when you listen to it you just get blown away

  • Bands like Pink Floyd, Doors, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and many more didn't write music for the purpose of selling (at least to some extent) but for their own enjoyment and people still bought it at large because it invoked emotions in them.

Today alot of music is a brand. Its made to sell parfumes and clothes. I don't blame people buying that but its a shame a lot of today's good music is so overlooked and there are some awesome bands playing for trip expenses and free beer :)

  • @dirtfrank kinda still like back in the day....

  • Why wasn't I alive back then ?

Rock N Roll is dead DOA..

  • @CecilRhodesIlluminat rock n roll isnt dead you just have to look a little harder. Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Sheep Dogs, Black Lips, Blue Angel Lounge, Blitzen Trapper just to list a few

  • 13 people were not careful with their axe and ended up cutting themselves..

  • I have a sick Floyd collection on vinyl including Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, original pressing. I also have Lady GaGa on vinyl. Not comparing them but I think there is a lot of good music in every genre. Eugene gave me goosebumps!

  • @rastapony lucky

  • this is the sort of music kids today should want to create, not commercial crap you hear on the radio everyday now.

    the planet is doomed.

  • @TheMproductions As a 14 year old I agree this is some of the greatest stuff of all time... The only thing with kids today is if the song doesn't get to the chorus in thirty seconds or less they lose interest

  • How does Waters produce such inhuman noises? There can only be one explanation...he was sent by aliens to blow our minds.

  • Waters' Lyrics: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

    OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    REHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • not hd.

  • @giteeng

    720p is HD,dear.

  • @TallicaTyOh The original video is from a DVD, this was just upscaled to 720p, dear.

  • @giteeng

    Well yeah,I figured,dear.

    :D

  • drogaaaaaasssshhhhhhhh

  • "...you ought to know you're the director" thanks for leaving that snippet in, it cracks me up every time

  • 13 people weren't careful with their axes

  • I don't understand how evolution produced both this and modern pop music.

  • @Gusj hopefully, it won't make the same mistake again.

  • @Gusj You just answered yourself evolution. one of my favorite quotes. "We are the facilitators of our own creative evolution."- Bill Hicks. it is what you make it.

  • @Gusj, the same way it produced Europeans and negroes I guess lol

  • @Gusj i dont understand how Classic music and classics of 20th century evolved in to the shit we have today. its like Charizard evolving in to jigglypuff

  • @89Pigsofdarkness try listening to music that isn't on the Top 40's list. My friends band plays music heaps similar to Zeppelin and Pink Floyd the problem is that 4 companies basically decide what music is hot and what's not with their immense marketing and simplified beats they reach a larger audience. Support new bands that are real. It's a systematic takeover driven by profit and control. Peace to the ones who do it for love and not money.

  • @89Pigsofdarkness today its about making money.

  • @89Pigsofdarkness while I despise people saying today's music is shit, I have to give you full credit for a funny as hell comment XD

  • @Pyramidstation actually i dont hate todays music i actually enjoy it sometimes: when i go clubbin etc. but it has lost certain aspect. it has become only about fun fun fun, emo feelings, fun, some more teenager feelings. music has lost the spiritual aspect and i like that much more than the rest. thats why i called it ''shit''. i was in my oldies mood when i wrote this maybe i exaggerated a bit... i still think today's music cant come near the oldies.

  • @89Pigsofdarkness sure got that rite :) todays music is shit . this kinda music needs skill . i dont think todays artists have any skill at all .

  • @Gusj There is no calm without the storm.

  • A 13 personas les gusta Justin Bieber

  • Reddit?

  • Roger Waters' screaming sends a shiver down my spine.

  • true unadulterated psychedelicy

  • Happy Halloween!!!

  • One of my favorite early Pink Floyd songs. So heavy and bizarre. I've played this on my radio show here at college before.

  • @Raul25E gtfo

  • @Raul25E 0/10

  • @Raul25E You're the stupidest person watching this video. Lady Gaga can't even do the scream. She would drop and cry for her "gaga".

  • @Raul25E are you lady cacca?

  • God, this is AMAZING.

  • my favorite from pompeii! total travel!

  • I was just a kid when this Pompei gig was released, blew my brain. Pure art all the way.

  • Metronomic1 = you're an idiot. go to listen Justin Bieber.

  • I agree with BighammersBlog and ChrisSousa9. My very first experience with Floyd was when I was a very young teenager and finding an 8track of Ummagumma someone was throwing away (then finding an 8track player to hear it on) I had never heard anything like it at the time and would just play it over and over. Obscurred By Clouds, Meddle, Live at Pompeii, my favorite Floyd stuff, up to DSOM.

  • This is beyond anything that any person could ever imagine...intriguing yet eerie...

  • 13 people weren't careful with that axe...

  • ART ROCK! ART ROCK! ART ROCK!
