i think i am going to buy this amp new !! can someone please explain to me the effects loop ? what do you do if you have the channel pedal and stomp boxes ?
@slowhand633 don't know what your really asking?? The f/x loop is serial and is silent, works great. The channel switching foot pedal you buy and plugs in the back of the amp not the loop. Your delay's and mod's go in the loop if you want and keep your overdrive's in front of the amp eg.. before the input
nice playing. can i ask you does this amp go from really quiet to crazy loud because i am a bedroom player and only play the occasional gig, but i really like the sound of these, but if its too loud i could have trouble with flat mates. what do you think? cheers
@buzzmund Channel one sounds best at higher levels because it doesn't have a master volume. You can get really good tones out of channel 2 at any level.
@buzzmund I've owned this amp for a couple of months and the volume does jump a bit on the clean channel. I bought a really inexpensive volume box off of ebay for under $20 that I place in the effects loop to help push the power tubes while keeping the overall volume reasonable. It also brings out some brightness on the clean channel that you wouldn't be able to get a low volumes. Excellent amplifier otherwise, great bang for the buck.
Ha ha ha Yeah right...Robbert Johnson and all the other real bluesplayers played on Peavy....Lmao...... If you want to play delta blues buy a good (simple) aucoustic guitar
Not all blues is acoustic. And there ARE a lot of great blues players use Peavey amps. T-Model Ford, R.L. Burnside, and I think Junior Kimbrough used a Peavey amp as well.
Ok, so I'm really serious about buying this amplifier. But I need to know some things first. I'm a beginner in like gigging with my band and stuff and I want a good, powerful amplifier, but I don't want a big double stack because I wouldn't have the room for it where we practice, and I don't have $3,000 to spend on an amp. Would this be able to take the basic bass, drums, guitar, and mics?
@dixiemetalhead00 I play in a rock/indie band and I never turn it above 5 (it goes to 12) I think it should easily keep up with even a loud metal drummer, although the tubes might begin to overdrive at those levels.
I got this amp and it's awsome! forget about what some people say, that you need to swap out the speaker and tubes etc, these parts is what makes the character of this amp, also the overdrive and tremolo and reverb is the best I ever heard, there is no need to swap out anything. I am perfectly happy with my delta blues as it is, and I would never sell it! also don't worry about the tubes vibrating as they did on early versions, that has all been taken care of. buy it before they are gone
Hey! I have a 210 version of this amp and I'd like to know if there is a foot switch out there that controls not only channel switching, verb and trem but also the boost on the dirty channel....the standard peavey footswitch only controls channel and trem...hoping to get a response from someone who could have some info on this matter..thx
@yabadabadanyb The problem with this is that you would have to modify the amplifier to get it to be able to do this. The cable only has whats called a Tip Ring Sleeve connection. So you would need a Tip Ring Ring Ring Sleeve, or a MIDI connection to do this. Sorry :-(
Love this amp. Bought mine used for 380, but had to replace the tubes straight away. The PDB 115 is a more versatile amp then the blues jr. in my opinion. Also, 30 watts is plenty for most gigs. I haven't miked mine yet, although it would do great with a mike thrown in front of it. I've been told that this amp might burn through tubes quicker then most as it runs hotter, thus the amazing tone. Either way I'm in love with the tone and multitude of sounds I can get out of it. Great amp.
The 15 is definitely going to add a beefier tone to the Tele. The 10"s are good if you prefer more 'focus' to the sound, but the 15 still has a lot of mid range to it.
@giggidybdoto7 Check out MbM20100's youtube video, Tele Baja with Peavey Delta Blues 115 - Hey Joe cover. One of the best tones I've heard of a tele - puts the Peavey DB 115 at the top of my list for my tele.
peavey makes great amps. I had a classic thirty and regret selling. I'll probably get either a 30 or a delta blues at some point. 15 inch speakers are great for strats.
@unabonger777 Seriously my friend. Robert Johnson, BB King, Bo Diddley, Elmore James, Howlin’ Wolf, Son House, John Lee Hooker, Honeyboy Edwards, Muddy Waters, Matt Murphy, Ike Turner, Hubert Sumlin, Albert King and on and on and on. Mississippi is the undisputed birthplace of the blues.

I'd like to just mount it on top my bass amp , but the sound is too horrific.
Any amp in your face sounds bad, especially that kind of tone. You should never point the amp at your own face or other's as well. The right kind of note/freq can damage ears.
just brought one home. I have had fender hot rods and Crate V31. The Peavey has the best sound for my strat. Nice and warm but clear. Th fender hot rods were too muddy on the bottom end for my taste
I opened for Robert cray with my band and at the end of our sound check his keyboard player and bass player cme up on stage and wanted to know what I was using for an amp. It was just my stock Delta blues 2x10. I love the amp I would like to get a 1x15 also I tried one at practice and loved it.
It's simply a matter of taste, but most people seem to favor the 15". The amp does a real good job of producing quality mid-range, which is usually the curse of the 15" speaker.
This amp is solid. It gets louder than you'll ever need, has a really thick tone great for strats and if you wanna kick it up a notch plug in a les paul and a carl martin plexi drive. Best of all it's made in the USA and not by some none guitar playing commi's
These amps are killer for blues, country and 70's rock. I've had mine since about
'97. It replaced my 20 year Music Man fixation. The reverb sucks, though. You can't get a deep Fender-like wash without spring noise (on a stage). If you have multi-effects reverb or echo, use the effects loop and put the distotion stuff in the front end. ...and it's LOUD!
I think there is a switch one for it. or at least there was one for mine. I lost it or either I'm thinking of crate head I used to have. I don't remeber I'm sorry and it's not a stupid question It's a very valid question I use a fab tone myself
I understood your problem as feedback coming out of nowhere when you take too much reverb? That could be if y our guitar has a bad pickup, or not necessarily bad but not that feeback-resistan (that's anyway what I'm gonna call it right now). That would for an example be a nylonstringed half-acoustic with a pickup in. or a really old jazzbox with the mic inside the body.
is the red/black padding device under the power tubes - visible at 1:40 - 2:05 - a peavey afterthought designed to stop the infamous "tube rattle" that comes close to ruining this otherwise great amp ?
We call it an engineering fix. JJ EL84's are really great tubes, but are sometimes susceptible to some tube rattle. By using the tape, it really alleviates that problem. We're also using it on the Classic 30's.
you stack two strips of heat resistant foam tape together and jam them between the power tubes and the protective cage...it holds the tubes steady and vastly reduces rattle...
The guitar in the video is a Peavey Custom Shop Omniac JD with a AAA flame maple cap on it. The cap makes it a slight bit brighter, but the stock Omniac is an amazing sounding guitar with a fantastic neck and unusual pickup switching system. You should definitely buy one! mds
awesome sound & playing.

is there a known fix for this flaw, because it annoys the crap out of me

Your best bet on something like that is to check out the Peavey forums. That may be a tube issue. I've never experienced that particular issue.

I understood your problem as feedback coming out of nowhere when you take too much reverb? That could be if y our guitar has a bad pickup, or not necessarily bad but not that feeback-resistan (that's anyway what I'm gonna call it right now). That would for an example be a nylonstringed half-acoustic with a pickup in. or a really old jazzbox with the mic inside the body.

is the red/black padding device under the power tubes - visible at 1:40 - 2:05 - a peavey afterthought designed to stop the infamous "tube rattle" that comes close to ruining this otherwise great amp ?
miserygoround 3 years ago
We call it an engineering fix. JJ EL84's are really great tubes, but are sometimes susceptible to some tube rattle. By using the tape, it really alleviates that problem. We're also using it on the Classic 30's.

can explain to me excatctly what you did?
i don't get it tape?
I'm dying to get rid of all the tube rattle
prompen3 3 years ago
you stack two strips of heat resistant foam tape together and jam them between the power tubes and the protective cage...it holds the tubes steady and vastly reduces rattle...

Ok thank you very much, now too another question where can i get such foam/tape hardware store?
prompen3 3 years ago
You should be able to get high temp tape at most hardware stores.

i've played this, if you just need blues it's great but if you want rock to I'd look at the peavey classic 30 or 50.

The guitar in the video is a Peavey Custom Shop Omniac JD with a AAA flame maple cap on it. The cap makes it a slight bit brighter, but the stock Omniac is an amazing sounding guitar with a fantastic neck and unusual pickup switching system. You should definitely buy one! mds
