Superbowl only affected her singles airplay. As far as album sales go, they've been declining since The Velvet Rope. So, even if the incident never happened, her sales would more or less still be declining, although, Discipline probably would've sold more than it did.

I disagree....yea after the superbowl happened..she was completely black listed! Without people playing her music people forgot about her and started to see her as what the media made her out to be....forgetting her true talent.

Secondly...her past three albums are very good and Damita Jo and 20 Y.O both sold very well.....both going platinum...the only thing is people put Janet on this high pedastool and she only didnt sell what JANET would sell...but for an artist they sold very well

The Velvet Rope did not mark the beginning of a trend for Janet. Had it not been for the Superbowl, Her sales may have survived. All For You sold seven million world-wide, which is excellent. But right after the superbowl, sales steeped. I believe there is a clear correlation.

It's a shame how much crap they gave Janet over that Super Bowl incident. Damita Jo was a good album and could have went 2 or 3x platinum if radio stations had just played her music at the time. (Note that if anything Justin Timberlake has become more popular since the incident.)
