In answer to your question, some atheists have stated online that they get frustrated when religious people either stop talking to them or blocks them. So if they don't want to be heard, why speak?
One atheist lady said, "If they think I'm going to hell for not believing, & they walk away, that means they never cared about me anyway or that they don't really believe their own religion."
Statements like this indicate some atheists want people to empathize or listen.

One atheist has made the point that religious movements thrive on persecution. That's something to consider. Like now, you've only confirmed what Christ said about being hated because of our liaison w/Him. You've proved Him to be right, not wrong. If He was right about that, it leads me to conclude that He's right about everything, including the existence of a hell.
