This is just great - wholly inspiring and totally appropriate that it is being sung by fishermen - I can just imagine Jesus and Fisherman's Friends singing this today and did you notice - some of it was filmed in a church. I love it.

I think this doesn't grab me as much as their other songs because I prefer the unaccompanied, acapella (sp?).

The guys aren't as relaxed as they are when the sessions are less formal - and it's their relaxed, ten friends together, style that is part of the whole appeal.

When I heard it on Radio 2 last night, I decided to find the song again. @DrHarringtonUK That's because it comes out of the same traditions. John Tams drew heavily on his encyclopaedic knowledge of the folk tradition when he wrote/rewrote them for Sharpe. To be a "folk" song, there has to be a good singable tune, a story people can identify with, and a bloody good chorus. FF are brilliant at this. They are up there with John Tams and the late Cyril Tawney - the greats of the folk tradition.
