  • Dante's "If I thought that that I was replying to someone who would ever return to the world, this flame would cease to flicker. But since no one ever returns from these depths alive, if what I've heard is true, I will answer you without fear of infamy."

  • I have listened to this poem a lot lately. I've never heard anything like this before. Thanks for making this video. I am sure to play it over and over again.

  • my favorite poem of all time, too!

    u did a good job.

  • I enjoyed listening to you and I think you're rather cute -^_^-

  • grazie! bravo! proprio perchè è così veloce mi sembra più bella....

  • Fuck what everyone else says.

I've been looking everywhere for someone who wouldn't spend 100 minutes lingering pointlessly on each and every word.

  • I have the same shirt =).

  • Too fast my dear

  • Slow down, in this way words are lost in a "muttering retreat".

  • AH! there are not WORDS to express how much i love you in this moment.

this happens to be the most amazing poem i have ever read and it was lovely to hear that i'm not the only one so enthusiastic.

    excellent job. :)

  • absolutely my favourite part of this poem is "I should have been a pair of ragged claws/ Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."

We're reading this poem in my english class right now, and we have to write an essay about the literary devises. I understand things better when they're read aloud, so I decided to try youtube to see if anyone posted a reading of the poem. Thank muchly for taking the time to make this!

  • That's my favorite line too!

  • T.S. Eliot is the greatest poet I've ever read

And The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is amazing. The greatest insight to the human condition I have read so far. I loved analyzing that poem in English. I can't wait to do Hollow Men next year.

  • you know what would be really impressive?

reading it without the paper. :]

It's my favorite poem too. So far.

  • Great poem! Nice job reading it, and thanks for the post.

  • That is my favorite poem too! Yay, when I was about 11 my mother first showed it to me. Man, those were the days. I like this reading btw, thank you.

  • Excellent poem from one of the greatest literary figures of his time or any other time.

The reading felt rushed. Slow down a bit; savour the beauty T.S. Eliot's words.

  • You should be arrested for this version. You are terrible and should go count some beans. You ruined it. Your apologetic opening and "Let's get going" intro. will make Eliot and any dead poet roll in his/her grave for decades. Nice job.

  • Stop criticising how he recites the poem will you? Each to their own I say, thats what modernism is all about, not adhering to typical convention, a break from tradition...I admire this guy for sharing with us his love for this awesome poem, I have read it countless times myself and I know that there are many ways in which the poem can be read, there is no right or wrong way.

  • Not only that, but that face makes up for every problem with the reading.

  • Well, I liked how he read it. It actually got to me.

  • My only criticism of this is that he should have slowed down a bit; but this is the most common problem of public speaking.

  • Prufrock and Hollow Men are my favorite eliot poems so far. The only other one of his works I've read (or rather tried to read) is The Waste Land...which I just don't get. -_-;

  • I liked it for the most part except it was too fast at some points. For example, I think there should have been longer pauses before the refrain about the women talking of Michelangelo.

I also think you should have paused more with "I grow old...I grow old..."

    Still, nice job!

  • "Do I Dare disturb the universe" Love it. You should really slow down though. It would sound much better. Nice tone. Being an English major, I never become tired of this one.

  • you made that poem mean so much more to me than it ever did. i always need someone to read poems out loud for me to really GET them. thank you! :D

  • Trust the poem, my friend!

    (ie: Slow down.)

  • before i didnt really like this poem, but i think that hearing it said out loud gave me a new appreciation for it... you did a great job! ; )

  • This is my favorite poem. You have good articulation.

  • Disillusioned, modern man and his problems. THERE WILL BE TIME, THERE WILL BE TIME. How do I dare disturbing the universe? Great poem!

  • awesome, thanks dude.

  • i love this poem.

  • 'I should have been a pair of ragged claws, scuttling along the floors of silent seas.' Great poem, one of Eliot's funniest, and a superb quality vid, well done!

  • Thanks FOD I really like this one too, talking of michelangeloo!

  • What kind of camera do you use?, the picture quality is phenomenal.

  • I use a canon S3IS digital camera. It just happens to have a video function, and I'm too cheap to buy a webcam! It loses a lot of picture quality when going up on youtube though.

  • My partner just bought a $2500 Canon Eos 10mp camera and it doesn't have video or zoom so i have to do everything on my little Sony.

  • I guess the other question should be, "what video format and compression settings (codec) did you use before uploading to YouTube?"

  • Excellent!

  • Great poem. I like how the author managed to rhyme "indecisions". That takes real skill.

  • nice

  • Nice reading, cute guy!
