To echo previous comments, why, oh why would you edit out the bass solo? Why go through the effort of posting an incomplete version of Sunrise? Can you put together Sound Chaser minus the guitar cadenza? :) Just messin with ya. Still, it's YES, so thanks for posting.
Tremendous performance by one and all. Yes without Anderson and Wakeman cannot be called Yes. In some ways, I admire Squire's tenacity but they seem to have become a tribute band of themselves.
Yes is yes.....just like Frankenstien is alive. But are they close to what they were?....as a lover of Yes music and a lifelong musician....i say no. Its MORE than just no Anderson....THAT would be bad enough...the band is souless and tired. everything is slower and less inspired....yep, there old...i get it. BUT dont dog Jon for 'straining' when the rest (besides Howe) are expired and going through the motions. Heres to classic Yes memories! Cheers!
dreamer easy in the chair that really fits you....my favorite line...Steve Howe makes it look so effortless....sigh, wish they could put their differences behind them.....
These guys are one of my favorite bands of all time. I love this masterpiece, and I can never get bored of listening to it. I can't wait to see Yes again very soon! :)
@bigua1428 Quit while you're ahead. Yes is still Yes without Jon, just like it was in 1980. Would you rather hear Jon straining his voice like he is here? Even he has recently said he can't do long tours, which Yes is doing now.
@trilobite3339 if nerd rock is defined as intelligent, dynamic, complex and well composed music, accompanied with a group of the most skilled musicians ever seen on the face of the earth, then nerd rock is probably the best genre of music out there. Yes kicks ass
@trilobite3339 You, generally have good taste on music, but Yes, nerd rock? Sorry, you have a momentary lapse of madness or a temporal audition disorder.
@trilobite3339 I remember that the trilobites are a form of primitive life, but palaeontologists took for extinct 300 million years ago ... And now it appears here one of these invertebrates that should be in a museum listening to boy bands or Disney's singers. And "yelow card" for the cut of the vid...
This music is so awesome it almost makes me cry with joy... These guys are masters of experimental rock - and long may we enjoy MUSIC like this. No fads, no image, just pure musical talent. Agree with other post, that few even come close to these guys.
Yes, and they can still blow away bands half their age. Saw them in the early 70's and when they performed "Heart of the Sunrise", several audience members had to be carried out on stretchers. Ahhh. those were the days :)!
It's Funny... I feel like I didn't appreciate some of the bands I saw in concert like Yes, Floyd, Rush, etc .. when I was younger as much as I do now that I am older.
@PFTome you sir are very lucky, i would give anything to have seen Pink Floyd abd Yes in concert when they were in ther eprime, and im seeing Rush this April :)
wow. who was the primary composer for this stuff ? puts most other prog-rock bands to shame. I mean, Gentle Giant used to be my fav but the more I listen to Yes...
@UndisclosedUsername A solo is an improvised melody, played over a certain part of a song (A, B/Bridge etc.) or a group of chord changes. Rick doesn't play an improvised melody, merely a scale up and down - and for a few bars only, not on a cleary distinguishable part of the composition. Therefore, it's just a fill.
I don't get it--every clip from this show has many close ups of Steve Howe's flying hands. However--none of the supernal Chris Squire's!! Big Oversight.
Yes have travelled from their roots but I agree with all the critics, this line up delivers the most yes of all the yes`s and I don`t think there is a better band on the planet to play this type of music . We love Yes
he plays a special Rickenbacker bass that has good upper midrange, with added stereo pick-ups, and splits the bass EQ through a bass amp, and the higher EQ through a guitar amp. I always loved the sound, and wondered how he got it.
I have to say, I'm really diggin' how rick's playing a keyboard using a regular piano sound starting at 1:21. I like the original version of course but this is definitely a very nice change.
Two 'proper' bands I have seen and would stake my life on them producing a brilliant live performance are Yes and Genesis. They are not only performers but musicians..this is a superb video, thanks!
